In this Field Test Shooting Review, I test the Umarex Smith & Wesson 629 Competitor CO2 Airsoft Revolver in the Replica Airguns Indoor Sea Can Shooting Range to find out what the real world velocity is in fps. I also shoot some .20 gram and .40 gram Airsoft BB’s at a paper target setup 30 feet down range to see what kind of accuracy I can achieve with a 6 round grouping. Starting with my Chronograph Velocity Test, I loaded up a brand new 12 gram CO2 Cartridge and loaded 6 .20 gram Airsoft BB’s into the cylinder. My average 6 shot velocity of 514 fps was even a bit higher than what Umarex claims which is 500 fps. The fastest Airsoft BB was clocked at 531 fps with the slowest BB hitting a respectable 490 fps. That’s moving pretty fast for sure, probably a bit quick for close quarters indoor Airsoft games? Temperature was right around room temperature.

I was going to only test out the .20 gram Airsoft BB’s for my accuracy part of the Field Test, but the high velocity was not working all that well with the lighter .20 gram Airsoft BB’s. I only got around an 8 inch grouping as the lighter .20 gram Airsoft BB’s really wanted to curl though the air. I felt the Umarex Smith & Wesson 629 Competitor CO2 Airsoft Revolver could do a lot better using a heaver Airsoft BB’s so I redid my Accuracy Test, but this time using .40 gram Airsoft BB’s, and this for sure gave me much better results. 3 of the 6 Airsoft rounds made a single hole just above the bulls-eye fairly well centered with 2 shots increasing the grouping slightly to around 2 inches and 1 shot that came out a bit which I will classify as a flyer but if you include it, the grouping was more or less around 5 inches, still a lot better than the .20 gram Airsoft BB’s.

All in all the Umarex Smith & Wesson 629 Competitor CO2 Airsoft Revolver is one of the nicest shell loading Airsoft Revolvers I have reviewed, and I do hope that one day it is available in a Steel BB version. I do recommend for sure using heavier Airsoft BB for better accuracy, and again if you are a smaller person or young adult, this Revolver may be a bit chunky at around 3 pounds. The single action trigger is very usable for precise shot placement, but I would say it is not overly light. Of course you can shoot double action if you want to unload the 6 rounds quickly when action shooting. I do like that Umarex has gone with larger shells and a beefier cylinder which is a lot closer to what your would expect from a 44 magnum in terms of shell casing size. If you want the ultimate Shell Loading Airsoft Revolver than this one is for sure on the top of the list!

Trigger Pull: The Umarex Smith & Wesson 629 Competitor CO2 Airsoft Revolver shoots in either single action or double action. If you pull the hammer back, you can shoot in single action which will give you a super short trigger pull with virtually no takeup and a very light and predictable release, perfect for when you are wanting the best possible accuracy out of this Airsoft Revolver. You can also simply just pull the trigger in double action which means your trigger finger is doing all the work of pulling back the hammer and releasing it which is a much longer trigger pull that is between medium and heavy pull, but still fine for quicker action shooting.

Accuracy: So far I have not shot the Umarex Smith & Wesson 629 Competitor CO2 Airsoft Revolver but I have shot a lot of similar shell loading 6 shooter revolvers. Yes the cylinder and the actual shells are a bit larger but this should not really affect accuracy or power. Umarex does claim a max velocity of 500 fps which does seem high, so it will be interesting to see if the Umarex Smith & Wesson 629 Competitor CO2 Airsoft Revolver will actually hit these numbers. In my past Field Test Shooting Video Reviews I am generally able to get at least a 2 inch 6 shot groupings from 30 feet away from my paper target so hopefully that is the case with the S&W 629 Competitor.

Build Quality: If you’re looking for a very solid and hefty Airsoft revolver, than I don’t think there is anything more beefy than the Umarex Smith & Wesson 629 Competitor CO2 Airsoft Revolver. It is a whopping 3.3 pounds and is almost all metal so smaller handed shooters may find this one a bit too much to hold comfortably. Fit and finish is very good and I do really like the satin stainless steel look to it even though Umarex calls it a chrome finish.

Realism: I like the shell loading revolvers for the added realism you get manually loading the cylinder with 6 preloaded shells. In almost all of the shell loading 6 shooter revolvers, the cylinder and shells are actually smaller than what you would find in a real steel 6 shooter revolver, especially the Single Action Army Revolvers as they would normally shoot a .45 caliber shell rather than a .38 caliber shells. So it is nice that Umarex didn’t just go with already to go parts and they gave the Umarex Smith & Wesson 629 Competitor CO2 Airsoft Revolver newly designed larger shells and a larger cylinder, maybe the shells are not actually .44 caliber in size but the larger cylinder and larger shells does give it more realism. Of course almost all the parts function just like they would in a real steel revolver.

• Rather large and heavy so not great for younger or smaller handed shooters.

Comments:

I think my main takeaway for the Umarex Smith & Wesson 629 Competitor CO2 Airsoft Revolver is that Umarex has a new larger shell and cylinder design, which is closer to the actual shell and cylinder size of a .44 magnum, so maybe we will see this design coming out in future shell loading revolvers. Other noticeable features are for sure the size and weight of this beast. If you add a red dot or optical sight to it, then this Airsoft revolver could weigh in at nearly 4 pounds! If you want the ultimate shell loading revolver than this is probably going to be the choice to go with, unless you want it in 4.5mm steel BB or Pellet versions as at least for right now, it is only available in an Airsoft version, maybe that will change down the road…

In this Mystery Box Unboxing Video I take a look at three Airsoft products, two pistols from Umarex and two AEG Airsoft Rifles from Specna Arms. As this is essentially an Unboxing Preview Video, I don’t go into a lot of detail for each item as this is my first real exposure to these items for the most part. Starting with the Umarex products, I did get the chance to checkout the Umarex Smith & Wesson 629 CO2 Airsoft Revolver at this years SHOT Show, and it is a very solid shell loading 44 Magnum styled Revolver with full Smith and Wesson licensing. From what I remember this item may only come in the Airsoft version at the time of this review and it does have a claimed velocity of 500 which may be a bit hot for Airsoft games but it would be a lot of fun shooting at pop cans and the likes.

The second Umarex products is a pretty basic mostly clear plastic Spring Powered Beretta 92 FS Airsoft Pistol. It is fairly light weight with it’s mostly all plastic construction and the velocity is also on the lower side at only around 250 fps. Since it is distributed by Umarex it carries the Beretta licensing which is nice and all, but on a clear plastic gun I am not sure if is really a major feature.

The first Airsoft Rifle out of the Mystery Box was the Specna Arms SA-FX11 FLEX AEG Airsoft Rifle which is your standard AR configuration, mine was the shorter barrel version but it does come in a longer barrel version as well. The top and bottom receiver and most of the outer components are going to be Nylon Fiber Reinforced Plastic. It does include features like Rotational Hop Up Chamber, SA ETU™ Optical Electronic System Optimizes for improved trigger response and Quick Spring Change System to name a few.

Something I don’t see too often are Pink Assault Rifles! So it was nice to get the pink version of the Specna Arms SA-FX02 FLEX AEG Airsoft Rifle. It does come in a Black and Tan version along with an all Black configuration. It’s really a great looking AEG Airsoft Rifle in any color you decide to go with, and I like the compact feel it has with lots of options for mounting accessories on the top bottom and side rails. You can get going right away using the included pop-up front and rear sights or throw a red dot or optical sight on it.

It’s been a while since I made a Field Test Shooting Video, probably well before I went to SHOT Show. I have been working on my SHOT Show 2025 Videos but those Interview Videos are all done and now it’s time to get caught up on some Field Test Shooting Video I have been wanting to make. So today I was able to make my Field Test Review Video for the Umarex DSX 45 Spring BB Pistol and for some this is a pretty entry level BB Pistol many might overlook but if you are simply looking for a 1911 based BB Pistol that is super inexpensive to buy, and cheap to shoot, and you don’t need quick semi auto shooting. Then the Umarex DSX 45 Spring BB Pistol Field Test Review could be an option for you. In this video I test out both the velocity and accuracy and I guess to some degree the usability so lets get started with the Velocity or fps portion of the testing. I loaded up the Umarex DSX 45 Spring BB Pistol with a half full hopper of 4.5 mm Steel BB’s, so around 100 BB’s which is way more than I needed and I shot 5 rounds through my Chronograph hitting the following fps: 191, 193, 188, 195, 197 which averaged 193 fps. Umarex claims a velocity of up to 240 fps which I think is a bit high as temperature is not even a factor with a spring piston Airgun, so warmer conditions will not really make much of a difference here.

I then placed a brand new paper target on my backstop 30 feet down range and proceeded to shoot 10 rounds into it using a semi rested shooting position. Hands rested on a sand bag up front and sitting on a stool in the back. This generally gives me pretty good stability while performing these tests, but there is always some human factor to take into consideration. I was not all that impressed with the grouping I got, the Umarex DSX 45 Spring BB Pistol likes to fling BB’s around a bit. You an see them curl so maybe some miscellaneous spin is being added in the barrel but it is not a consistent spin so the BB’s kind of spray all over the target that ended up giving me around a 8 inch grouping. Usually I can get around a 2 inch grouping with a BB Pistol that is generally what I would consider to be good accuracy.

I wish the Umarex DSX 45 Spring BB Pistol Field had hit closer to the 240 claimed fps and was also a bit more accurate as it would then be more usable at the 30 foot range I tested it at. I would suggest if you buy or own this BB Pistol, that you shoot it at targets closer in at 10-20 feet as the poor velocity and accuracy would be a lot less noticeable at these ranges and for that purpose it would be just fine. If you want a super low cost BB Pistol option that is also a decent looking 1911 Replica, and that you don’t need to go out and buy any CO2 to use it. This will be my final Interview Video for SHOT Show 2025. I did get to talk with someone from Crosman but the Daisy rep was not around totally with so I did my best to talk about a couple of the Daisy products that I felt were interesting. If you are not aware, Crosman and Daisy have now joined forces together along with Gamo, Benjamin and SPLATRBALL so all of these product were on display at the Crosman Daisy Booth. I focussed on the Crosman M1 Full Auto Carbine and their updated all black ST1 Full Auto BB Rifle. We then took a look at some of the Game Face Airsoft Products and then I performed my own Interview/Review for Daisy talking about the Woodland Trail Model 1911 and Model 25 Lever and Pump Action BB Rifles.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Mark from Umarex again at SHOT Show 2025 and Mark went over some of the new products from Umarex coming out this year. Make started of by showing me two new MOS (Modular Optic System) Gen 5 Glocks in a Glock 17 and Glock 19 versions. Both come with Umarex based red dot sights but you can change them up for something different if you choose to down the road. We then took a look at the new Umarex AER16 AR AEG Rifle in 4.5mm Steel BB rather than 6mm Airsoft similar to the Barra e400 that came out last year. In a nutshell it is a battery/spring operated 4.5mm Steel BB Full Auto AR Replica. Mark then showed us some A&L AK based AEG Airsoft Rifles they are now distributing that feature Full steel body construction with high-quality real laminated wood handguard and skeletal folding stocks. These are one to one in terms of size and weight adn very detailed. We then finished up the interview taking a look at the Legends Saddle Lever Action Shell Loading Rifle and the Umarex Smith & Wesson Competitor Shell Loading revolver.

I spoke with Jacob from Barra and he went over a lot of new products adn updated products Barra is introducing this year. We discussed some new PCP Air Rifles with Canada import options, Jacob went over some new updates to their 1866 Muti-pump BB and Pellet Lever Action Rifle, and he went over Barra’s Gen 2 400e AEG BB rifle which include a higher capacity magazine, an increased velocity and unproved internal tolerances for smoother BB flow. Lastly Barra is introducing high grade 4.5mm BB’s that a re procession ground to be more uniform for improved accuracy and better BB feeding. Great for full auto guns.

It was nice to run into ASG (Action Sports Games) right away and talk with Bob for ASG. Bob always has a great understanding of the ASG product line and each year I Interview him and find out all the news and updated product in the ASG lineup. This year Bob’s goes over the new ASG CZ P-10 C CO2 Blowback BB Pistol, the Action Army C1 Pro Bolt Action CO2 Airsoft Rifle, ASG’s new Frag Impact Sound Grenades, along with some new additions to the Shadow 2 Series of Airsoft Pistols. Was a great start to this years SHOT Show 2025!

I’m back from SHOT Show 2025 Las Vegas and finished transferring and uploading all the video from all the cameras we shot it all on. We had a great time, we met a lot of great folks at the booths and it’s now time to put it all together and make some videos for everyone so I can share the experience!

Trigger Pull: The Alias GEM Multi Ammo Mini CO2 Airgun is a true single action only pistol that requires the pulling back of the hammer for each shot. This does give it a very nice trigger action that is short to medium in length with an easy release. The makeup is about medium for a single action trigger with a bit of an unpredictable release as there is no point in time that you feel it breaking on you. This can be good or bad depending on how you like your triggers as it is hard to tel when ti will actually release but the smoothness makes it a good trigger overall in my opinion

Accuracy: I have not shot the Alias GEM Multi Ammo Mini CO2 Airgun at all so far as it requires 8 gram CO2 and so I am waiting on the 12 gram adaptor for it before I can even give it a quick try. I will be making a full Field test Review for it swapping between a bunch of barrel options to see how each barrel adn ammo type performs in terms of power adn accuracy so stay posted for that video down the road a bit.

Build Quality: Build quality for the Alias GEM Multi Ammo Mini CO2 Airgun is very good with an almost all metal build other than the front and back sights, the trigger, the safety adn the barrel release. I kind of wish these parts were also metal as the rest of the Airgun is so pristine! The weight of this pistol feels very dense as it is so small yet has a good weight. The fir and finishes is all very good with the chrome finish on most parts and even the inclusion of what I believe are real gem stones on each side of the grips. The mechanical parts are also smooth and precise.

Realism: As far as I know the Alias GEM Multi Ammo Mini CO2 Airgun is not a replica of any production real steel gun that I am aware of. It looks to me like some sort of futuristic compact laser pistol? In terms of gun shape and what we are use to in terms of what a gun is it checks most of the boxes but it is it’s own design for sure.

Comments:

I have to say that the Alias GEM Multi Ammo Mini CO2 Airgun is not going to be for everyone as the price point is up there a bit for such a simple single action gun. That said it is super unique and the quality adn design is top notch. It may in fact be the smallest CO2 Airgun on the market adn you can literally put it in your front pocket easily. That combined with all the barrel and ammo options makes it super flexible if you plan on shooting a variety of different ammo types. Like I said in the video you may even be able to get away with buying it as a gift for your wife or girlfriend since it technically can be defined as being jewelry with the imbedded Gem stones in the grips. That may be a bit of a stretch unless she is also an Airgun fan.

Trigger Pull: The single action only trigger pull on the Umarex DSX 45 Spring BB Pistol is actually pretty decent. I would say it has a short to medium length with only a little bit of light take up and then an easy release that has no additional friction. You will have to cock the slide back for each shot which also cocks the hammer back allowing for a true single action trigger. The trigger its self is not like a traditional 1911 trigger in terms of looks but it does work well.

Accuracy: I have briefly shot the Umarex DSX 45 Spring BB Pistol so I could make some initial comments about its performance as it is a very new product to me. I will be making a full Field Test Shooting Video down the road but for now I can say it performed a lot better than I was expecting. The claimed 240 fps seems believable to me as shots at 20 feet hit the target with very little delay and even at 30 feet the delay was acceptable. In terms of accuracy, out of the box, for the most part hit the target at both 20 adn 30 feet very close to where I was aiming which is what you are hopping for.

Build Quality: Build quality for the Umarex DSX 45 Spring BB Pistol is also better than I would expect from a $29 Canadian almost all plastic BB Pistol. Everything felt nice and tight and fit and finish was good in general. There is even some metal where they could have gone with cheaper plastic, for example it has a metal trigger and slide catch release that is actually the safety. Of course the barrel and some other internal parts are going to be metal along with screws and such.

Realism: The Umarex DSX 45 Spring BB Pistol is a fairly believable replica of a more modern 1911 45 caliber semi auto pistol. Other than it being mostly plastic and much lower in weight, at around 1.25 pounds, the Umarex DSX 45 Spring BB Pistol does look the part with a working slide (for cocking the spring), a full size drop out magazines, a recessed barrel and a lot of detail in the finishing of it. I find it to be a little bit wider than a real 1911 would be in the grips and even the main frame and slide by just a bit.

Pros:

• Super low coast to buy and shoot, no CO2 required, just need 4.5mm Steel BB’s and away you go.

• Shoots pretty good, BB’s got to the target a lot faster than I was expecting them to and they shot where I was aiming in general.

• Decent looking Replica of a modern 1911 Semi Auto Pistol.

• Has a picatinny rail for adding accessories if you want to.

• Single Action Trigger is pretty decent, a bit of take up but medium light weight to it.

• Has a close to full size magazine that looks the part.

• Magazine has a 200 round hopper capacity with 13 rounds being loaded into the feeder at a time.

• Safety is worked into the slide catch release which adds to the realism in terms of looks.

• Recessed barrel for added realism.

• Actual working hammer you can de-cock if you want to for a bit of added safety.

Cons:

• Almost all plastic other than some internal metal parts like the barrel and spring and some other stuff I am sure.

• Takes a bit of effort to cock it which is required for each shot.

• Sights are not adjustable and are all black with no white dots.

• A bit beefy for smaller handed shooters.

Comments:

The Umarex DSX 45 Spring BB Pistol is a super inexpensive BB Pistol but don’t let that stop you from considering it to add to your collection. It has a lot going for it in my opinion. First off the price is super low to buy and to shoot, you only need a bunch of BB’s and you can shoot all day for a couple of bucks. It looks pretty believable as a 1911 Replica. The build quality and detail is a lot better than you should get for only $30 dollars here in Canada and when I quickly tried it out, it actually shot pretty hard for a spring BB Pistol and it seemed to hit the target right where I aimed even at 30 feet away. It even has a full size magazine that holds 200 rounds with a quick load 13 round spring feeding system to keep the fun going. Kind of a no brainer if you’re looking for a cheap and fun time.

In this Field Test Shooting Video Review of the KWC SP2022 NBB CO2 BB Pistol I set out the Velocity in FPS using a Chronograph along with the accuracy shooting 10 rounds at a paper target setup 30 feet away. Umarex claims just under 400 fps so the goal will be to see how close we can get to that power rating. I have already made a Table Top Review Video for the KWC SP2022 NBB CO2 BB Pistol where I go into details about specification and also show more close up video of this NBB CO2 BB Pistol. Make sure to watch that video if that is the information you are looking for as this video only goes into performance characteristics.

For my Velocity Test of the KWC SP2022 NBB CO2 BB Pistol, I shot 5 rounds through my Chronograph using a brand new CO2 in a typical room temperature environment, not too cold or too warm. I was able to get an average velocity of 355 fps with my slowest recored shot hitting 344 fps and my fastest recored shot hitting 362 fps. I did notice that the fps seemed to increase a bit with each shot which is not typical of CO2 Airguns. This may mean the CO2 was not fully pierced but I did crank it down pretty tight. Perhaps there is more potential power out of this CO2 pistol by using a slightly different brand CO2 than I was using, as sometimes a CO2 can just not fight properly, so by switching CO2 brands with a slightly different nozzle shape, you can get a better fit?

Moving on to my accuracy test, I setup a brand new paper target 30 feet away form my shooting position which uses a sand bag up front to rest the gun on and me sitting on a stool in the back to help stabilize each shot. There is also some human factor when performing accuracy shooting totes with any gun but I do my best to get the most out of each Airgun. The KWC SP2022 NBB CO2 BB Pistol shot very well centered on the target left to right and just a bit on the high side but not by much. The 10 shot grouping did spread out a bit to around 4 inches or so but it was an even spread. I would have liked to have seen just bit tighter grouping, even a 3 inch grouping means you are going to hit a pop can at 30 feet pretty consistently.

All in all the KWC SP2022 NBB CO2 BB Pistol is a fun plinker with enough power and accuracy at the end of the day to enjoy blasting targets in your back yard effectively. The double action trigger is pretty good, like most double action trigger it is a little longer but it is smooth and the trigger weigth is light to medium with a predictive breaking point at the end. I am a Sig Sauer fan so I do like the look and feel of this pistol an even though it is mostly plastic, the all metal magazine adds enough weight to make it feel more substantial in your hand than what you would expect form a mostly plastic Airgun. if you want a fun inexpensive plinker that is going to be efficient on CO2 and cost very little to shoot then the KWC SP2022 NBB CO2 BB Pistol would be a good choice.

There a re a few Red Ryder type BB Rifles out there now, of course the original Red Ryder that dates back several decades. Since then Crosman came out with their version of the Marlin Cowboy BB Rifle, then there was an Air Venturi John Wayne licensed version of the Red Ryder. Recently Barra came out with their slightly different take on the Red Ryder with the Barra 1866 dual Ammo Air Rifle, which though it looks a lot like the Red Ryder, it is not spring operated but rather pump operated and can shoot both Steel BB’s and Pellets. That brings us to the most recent version of Red Ryder type BB Rifles, Umarex Marlin Lever Action Spring BB Rifle which is the focus of this Field Test Shooting Video Review. You can watch my Table Top Video Review for details and specifications along with more close up video of it here.

To start things off with my Field Test Shooting Video of the Umarex Marlin Lever Action Spring BB Rifle, I shoot 5 rounds through my Chronograph to see what the real world velocity is in fps. Umarex claims around 300 fps. I was able to average right around 274 fps so not far off of the claim. My lowest performing shot was 270 fps with the fastest shot hitting 278 fps, so all very close in velocity which is typical of a spring piston Airgun, this will help with consistent accuracy especially in terms of elevation.

When it comes to the accuracy, the Umarex Marlin Lever Action Spring BB Rifle did as well or perhaps even better than my other testing using previous Red Ryder type Air Rifles. If I through out one flyer I got, my 10 shot grouping was able to get around a 2 inch grouping that was overall well centered on the target, maybe juts a hair to the right. Even with the flyer the grouping spread out to a 3 inch grouping. I am pretty sure I could do better as this was the first time shooting this rifle. Keep in mind as I have to work the lever action for each shot that requires me to hold the rifle straight up and down in order for proper BB loading, this means I need to fully reset my hands on the sand bag and re-aim for each shot which will effect accuracy consistency a bit. Still a good result.

All in all I do really like the Umarex Marlin Lever Action Spring BB Rifle, mainly as it has a longer shoulder pull more suitable for adults. I feel adults get left out a bit in terms of target marketing with the standard Red Ryder which is a very compact BB Rifle with a short shoulder pull more suited for kids and youth shooters. This makes the Umarex Marlin Lever Action Spring BB Rifle more comfortable to shoot as an adult but will still work for youth and kids as is is not too large in size or heavy or even very hard to work the lever action. Now the whole family can really take part in the fun experience of shooting a Red Ryder type BB Rifle!

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the KWC SP2022 NBB CO2 BB Pistol is the same as pretty much all of the DOA trigger low cost BB Pistols, where the trigger has to do most of the work rather than the blowback operation. Much of which is pulling back the fairly strong internal hammer spring. That said the Double Action Only trigger pull is lighter than most DOA triggers with an medium or average length of trigger pull. I would say the trigger is suitable as an action shooter for quick repetitive shots.

Accuracy: At this point I have reviewed a similar older version of this KWC SP2022 NBB CO2 BB Pistol. I did make a Field test video where I Tested it out along with 2 other pistols so I will add link to that video here but I do plan on making a dedicated Field Test Video for this newer version of the KWC SP2022 NBB CO2 BB Pistol down the road a bit. For now all I can tell you is it shot around 350 fps with about a 3 inch grouping shooting 10 rounds at a paper target setup 30 feet away. We will see how I do in test number two!

Build Quality: The KWC SP2022 NBB CO2 BB Pistol is mostly all metal with the exception of the full size all metal magazine, internal barrel, trigger and some other internal metal parts. The slide and frame are however plastic so when you take the all metal magazine out of the gun it does feel rather light weight and cheap, when you pop the magazine back in, it all of a sudden feels so much heftier in the hand with a decent overall weight of a bit over a pound and a half. I like that the KWC SP2022 NBB CO2 BB Pistol is not made like a lot of other low cost BB Pistols where they simply mould two halves of the gun and slap them together with screws on one side. The KWC SP2022 NBB CO2 BB Pistol is built more like a traditional pistol with a separate frame and slide along with the magazine. The slide does not function in any way however.

Realism: The KWC SP2022 NBB CO2 BB Pistol as it is made more like a real gun in terms of separate parts, does look more realistic as there are no telltale screws on one side. It also has a recessed barrel and the full size drop out metal magazine helps out with realism. You also have a working safety and magazine release but the hammer is just there for show, as it doesn’t even function when you pull the trigger back. You can only work the hammer with your thumb, and even then it does not function for any actual use shooting the pistol. Even though it is mostly plastic, the 1.67 pound weight does give the impression of more metal than is actually in the Airgun.

Comments:

I for the most part prefer blowback Airguns as I like the single action triggers you get with them, and that little bit of recoil that make shooting them that much more fun. The KWC SP2022 NBB CO2 BB Pistol is a good option if you not as interested in blowback action or perhaps want something a little bit less expensive with a bit higher velocity and more shots per CO2. You also tend to get more reliability with a non blowback Airgun as there are a lot less working parts to fail on you. I am not worried about the plastic as it is well made but a metal slide would be nice and there are version of these KWC 2022 pistols that do have metal slides, but they tend to come and go and are not always available. The only difference between the two would be the additional weight and better balance of the metal slide. the KWC SP2022 NBB CO2 BB Pistol is a nice looking Airgun and should perform well in my upcoming Field Test Shooting Video.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on Umarex Marlin Cowboy Lever Action BB Rifle is just about right for a rifle like this at 5 pounds with a medium to short pull length. I would say it is perfect for just about all shooter including novice shooters as it is not overly light, so as not to go off by accident and not too heavy so as to affect your accuracy. The Umarex Marlin Cowboy Lever Action BB Rifle trigger is considered a single action only trigger as it is only active after each cycle of the lever action which also is required to chamber a BB round.

Accuracy: My dedicated field test shooting video will be coming up over the next couple of weeks. So for now I have no idea what to expect in terms of velocity and accuracy from the Umarex Marlin Cowboy Lever Action BB Rifle, other than the claimed 300 fps which is what you can expect from the similar Red Ryder BB Rifle. Accuracy in general for a BB Rifle like this can be hit or miss. From past shooting experiences testing out the Red Ryder and first version of the Crosman Marlin Cowboy BB Rifle, they both shot decent from about 30 feet away, but I would have to say the Red Ryder did perform more consistently getting a tighter grouping than the Crosman Marlin Cowboy. Hopefully this Umarex newer version performs up to par.

Build Quality: The Umarex Marlin Cowboy Lever Action BB Rifle has overall good build quality with a metal barrel, receiver, rear sight and lever. The stock is plastic along with the front sight and the trigger but it does look and feel well made with all the mechanical parts feeling solid and tight. It does feel much heavier in the hand than the claimed 2.59 pounds. I would have preferred a metal trigger, not sure why Umarex went with a plastic trigger?

Realism: The Umarex Marlin Cowboy Lever Action BB Rifle is essentially styled after the Old West Lever Action Cowboy Rifle, and it has everything one would expect other than loading shells which is available in other CO2 poweredLever Action Air Rifles if you don’t mind paying a premium for one of them. The lever does not work the cycling of the bolt but rather it pre-cooks the internal spring that provides the air pressure and power. The lever does load a single 4.5mm Steel BB with each crank of the action. I do like that the Umarex Marlin Cowboy Lever Action BB Rifle has a full shoulder pull stock more suitable for larger shooters which does all add to the realism rather than having a super short rear stock.

Pros:

• Fit and finish looks good for an inexpensive Airguns, seems very well made.

• In terms of realism it does look like a classic old west lever action rifle for the most part.

• Holds 650 BB’s in the hopper for quicker follow up shooting and virtually unlimited ammo.

• Official Marlin licensing and branding via Umarex.

• Rear peep sight is metal and is also adjustable for elevation.

• Trigger pull is pretty decent, not too light but is medium-short and about 5 pounds.

• Metal lever feels a lot better than as plastic one and will be more durable.

• Shoulder pull length is much longer than a standard kids type Red Ryder BB Rifle.

• Plastic stock has nice texturing that helps with grip and looks.

Comments:

The Umarex Marlin Cowboy Lever Action BB Rifle in my opinion is really built for adult shooters that want to join in on the fun with perhaps their kids or other youth shooters shooting something like a Red Ryder. The longer shoulder pull feels a lot more natural for larger shooters and I do feel like the Umarex Marlin Cowboy Lever Action BB Rifle just feels a bit more like a full size Lever Action Rifle. Performance wise, I dolt think we are going to see anything much different than what we are already getting from a standard Red Ryder or first generation Marlin Cowboy BB Rifle. That’s really OK since this type of rifle is made for good old fun, blasting pop cans and plastic army men with a friend. And with some time shooting one you can get pretty accurate with one of these BB rifles too.

This was a really fun Unboxing Video for me as I received something I feel a lot of Canadians might be really interested in protecting yourself in Canada is not a right especially if you use lethal force. So having a less lethal option is a really good idea.

Let’s get into what I found in this most recent Mystery Box in order of appearance…

The first item I unboxed was the KWC SP2022 CO2 NBB 4.5mm Steel BB Pistol. A pretty basic 4.5mm CO2 BB Pistol mostly made out of plastic but with a full size 21 round drop out metal magazine that does help a lot to add some much needed weight to this Airgun. It uses standard 12 gram CO2 with a claimed velocity of 450 fps.

Probably the most exciting item I pulled out of this months Mystery Box was the Gen2 Umarex P2P HDP 50 Rubber Ball purpose built Less-lethal solution for personal and family protection. Most of the similar Rubber ball Less-lethal Airguns I have tested generally do not pack enough punch to really be much of a deterrent in my opinion but the Gen2 Umarex P2P HDP 50 has a claimed 495 fps and when I tested it out after making this video it defiantly has some power. I would not want to be at the receiving end of this product especially in close proximity. The Gen2 Umarex P2P HDP 50 uses a traditional 12 gram CO2 and holds 6 rounds of rubber ball or powder ball, it does come with 10 of each to get you started.

Next I took a look at three KJWORKS Airsoft Pistols all of which came with CO2 Magazines, extension barrels and thread on tips. The KJWORKS KP-19, the KJWORKS M9A1 TBC, and the KJWORKS KP-13 TBC. As expected with KJWORKS Airsoft Guns, they looked really good and will be a joy to review and test out.

Last out of the Mystery Box was a new product from Umarex, a full sized Marlin Cowboy Lever Action BB Rifle in the style of the classic Red Ryder BB Gun but as mentioned in a larger size more suitable for an adult. Hey why do the kids get to have all the fun? The Umarex Marlin BB Rifle holds 650 rounds in its BB hopper and has a claimed fps pf 300. It also has an adjustable for elevation peep sight in the back with a metal lever and a Classic Faux Wood Finish.

In this Mystery Boxing Video I get to take a look at 4 new Airgun Products and give you my first impressions along with a few specifications about each of them but not in a lot of details as I have not had an opportunity to research any of them as this my first time seeing them.

First out of the Mystery box is a new Umarex T4E .43 Caliber CO2 Blowback Paintball Pistol with Walther licensing called the Umarex T4E PDP. I have reviewed similar styled T4E .43 caliber CO2 Blowback Pistols in the past and this one should perform and function similarly.

The next Airgun I pulled out out of the box was the EMG SAI 2011 DS 4.3 CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol, a really nice 1911 styled Airsoft Pistol with a stainless finish and gold barrel with a CO2 Magazine. This one looks and feels really nice.

Staying with the pistols that came in this Mystery Box, I got my first look at the Umarex Markpoint .177 Caliber Break Barrel Pellet Pistol that has a bit of a utilitarian look and feel to it. This one is the longer barrel version and has a claimed fps of 395 using alloy pellets so we will see what it can get with more traditional lead pellets when I make my Field Test Video for it down the road a bit.

The last item out of the Mystery Box was another Umarex product, a fun CO2 BB Rifle with H&K licensing called the HK416. This semi auto and 6 round Burst internal Blowback CO2 BB Rifle is a lot like the Steel Storm and Steel Strike from Umarex but a little bit larger I would say and with H&K Licensing so more of a true Replica Airgun.

I will be making full Table Top and Field Test Videos for all of these items shortly so keep an eye out for those videos but for now you can at least get an idea what these Airgun Products will offer.

Airguns are not toys and as so require proper storage, transportation and handling so as not to cause an accident that could be minor or even deadly.

No matter if you are handling an Airgun or a “Real Gun”, they should both be handled in the same manner even if the consequences from an accident with an Airgun may be less serious. Life long injuries like the loss of an eye are nothing to be taken lightly.

For the most part, what I talk about in this Airgun Safety 101 video can also be applied to a “Real Gun” although most countries will have stricter laws and guidelines in the storage, transportation and handling of “Real Guns” over an Airgun.

Storing Your Airgun:

In Canada an unregulated Airgun does not have any real specific safe storage guidelines but common sense should be used and I recommend that you at the bare minimum keep your Airgun in some sort of locked space whether it be a safe, cabinet or room that is locked all of the time.

You can also put a trigger lock on your Airgun if you do not have a lockable storage location for it.

You should also make sure to store your Airgun unloaded, at least when it comes to BB’s and or Pellets. If there is some unused CO2 in it, or it is charged with Compressed Air, but unloaded in terms of ammunition, that is OK, but again keep it in a safe location away from anyone that may be able to get their hands on it and hurt themselves or others.

Transporting Your Airgun:

Again, in Canada an unregulated Airgun does not have any real transportation guidelines but if you keep your Airgun out in the open and someone sees it, they will most certainly call the police and more than likely you may find yourself staring down the wrong end of a police firearm, at least until they sort it all out. This is very serious as unfortunately people have died as a result of handling their Airguns out in the open and underestimating what kind of police response that may entail.

For that reason alone, always keep your Airgun out of sight in a case or backpack or the trunk of your car. Never transport your Airgun loaded and it is best if you can lock it in a case or put a trigger lock on it for added safety when transporting it.

Shooting Your Airgun:

Shooting your Airgun is always the most enjoyable part of owning an Airgun, so don’t do something stupid and turn that experience into a nightmare. Treat your Airgun as if it is deadly at all times, never point it at anything you do not intend on shooting.

Keep your safety on until you are ready to shoot. Never put your finger on the trigger until you are ready to shoot it and only shoot it in a safe location with an appropriate background and backstop.

Think of the barrel of your Airgun as a light saber that if it crosses even your arm, it could cut it off. Even a BB to the arm is a serious matter. I had a friend that shot himself in the arm with a BB Gun and the BB lodged in the tendons of his wrist requiring an operation to remove it. He was a violin player so this could have ended his violin playing, but luckily he was OK.

When Your finger is not on the trigger it should be held across the trigger guard in a straight position to ensure no accidental misfires.

Wear eye protection, Steel BB’s will bounce back when they hit a hard surface and can come back with enough force to injure an eye easily. Generally Airguns do not require ear protection but some can be loud enough that you may want to wear some sort of ear protection as a precaution.

Only shoot with others that are responsible and take Gun Safety very seriously. Young people will need constant supervision and it is best to go through all of this first before even considering handing them an Airgun for the first time. Perhaps start them off with something like an Airsoft gun which will have less consequences if an accident were to take place.

Airguns are awesome in so many ways and allow for a similar shooting experience to a “Real Gun”. They can be used in more situations, with less overall cost and are a great way to learn proper gun handling and how to improve your shooting ability even if you are a “Real Gun” owner. Always be responsible with your Airgun not only for yourself but for others as it only takes a few idiots to ruin things for the rest of us. Don’t be that Idiot please!

Here is video four in my series of Full Auto Fun videos I make each summer where I pick a few Full Auto Airguns and record some fun outside shooting with them. In this years Full Auto Fun Video series I do a bit of a walk around on my property and shoot a bunch of water filled pop cans. Maybe this doesn’t sound super exciting but I do use some really creative camera angles to capture it all which makes it lot more interesting to watch for sure!

My Airguns of choice in this years Full Auto Fun Series are all 4.5mm BB Full Auto Airguns this time around. They are the Barra 400e 4.5mm BB AEG Full Auto BB Rifle, the KWA Mini UZI Blowback CO2 4.5mm BB Machine Gun and the the Crosman A4-P Blowback CO2 4.5mm BB Pistol.

In this fourth Full Auto Fun video, I retest the Barra 400e 4.5mm BB AEG Full Auto BB Rifle in full auto this time, and try a bit of a different camera angle approach with my HoverAir Drone Camera switching it to follow mode as it doesn’t stop recording so easily in this mode. And as expected, it worked a lot better for me with this setup and continued recording the entire video. I also recoded using my Meta Glasses to get the first person view and like the other videos I placed my Insta360 X4 camera on the barrel again to get some cool up front gun angle shots. I think this setup works well and will probably use it for future Full Auto Fun Videos where I am running around the yard shooting stuff. Maybe there will be a couple more bonus guns in this years Full Auto Fun Series? No promises!
