In this Field Test Shooting Review, I test the Umarex Smith & Wesson 629 Competitor CO2 Airsoft Revolver in the Replica Airguns Indoor Sea Can Shooting Range to find out what the real world velocity is in fps. I also shoot some .20 gram and .40 gram Airsoft BB’s at a paper target setup 30 feet down range to see what kind of accuracy I can achieve with a 6 round grouping. Starting with my Chronograph Velocity Test, I loaded up a brand new 12 gram CO2 Cartridge and loaded 6 .20 gram Airsoft BB’s into the cylinder. My average 6 shot velocity of 514 fps was even a bit higher than what Umarex claims which is 500 fps. The fastest Airsoft BB was clocked at 531 fps with the slowest BB hitting a respectable 490 fps. That’s moving pretty fast for sure, probably a bit quick for close quarters indoor Airsoft games? Temperature was right around room temperature.
I was going to only test out the .20 gram Airsoft BB’s for my accuracy part of the Field Test, but the high velocity was not working all that well with the lighter .20 gram Airsoft BB’s. I only got around an 8 inch grouping as the lighter .20 gram Airsoft BB’s really wanted to curl though the air. I felt the Umarex Smith & Wesson 629 Competitor CO2 Airsoft Revolver could do a lot better using a heaver Airsoft BB’s so I redid my Accuracy Test, but this time using .40 gram Airsoft BB’s, and this for sure gave me much better results. 3 of the 6 Airsoft rounds made a single hole just above the bulls-eye fairly well centered with 2 shots increasing the grouping slightly to around 2 inches and 1 shot that came out a bit which I will classify as a flyer but if you include it, the grouping was more or less around 5 inches, still a lot better than the .20 gram Airsoft BB’s.
All in all the Umarex Smith & Wesson 629 Competitor CO2 Airsoft Revolver is one of the nicest shell loading Airsoft Revolvers I have reviewed, and I do hope that one day it is available in a Steel BB version. I do recommend for sure using heavier Airsoft BB for better accuracy, and again if you are a smaller person or young adult, this Revolver may be a bit chunky at around 3 pounds. The single action trigger is very usable for precise shot placement, but I would say it is not overly light. Of course you can shoot double action if you want to unload the 6 rounds quickly when action shooting. I do like that Umarex has gone with larger shells and a beefier cylinder which is a lot closer to what your would expect from a 44 magnum in terms of shell casing size. If you want the ultimate Shell Loading Airsoft Revolver than this one is for sure on the top of the list!

Trigger Pull: The Umarex Smith & Wesson 629 Competitor CO2 Airsoft Revolver shoots in either single action or double action. If you pull the hammer back, you can shoot in single action which will give you a super short trigger pull with virtually no takeup and a very light and predictable release, perfect for when you are wanting the best possible accuracy out of this Airsoft Revolver. You can also simply just pull the trigger in double action which means your trigger finger is doing all the work of pulling back the hammer and releasing it which is a much longer trigger pull that is between medium and heavy pull, but still fine for quicker action shooting.
Accuracy: So far I have not shot the Umarex Smith & Wesson 629 Competitor CO2 Airsoft Revolver but I have shot a lot of similar shell loading 6 shooter revolvers. Yes the cylinder and the actual shells are a bit larger but this should not really affect accuracy or power. Umarex does claim a max velocity of 500 fps which does seem high, so it will be interesting to see if the Umarex Smith & Wesson 629 Competitor CO2 Airsoft Revolver will actually hit these numbers. In my past Field Test Shooting Video Reviews I am generally able to get at least a 2 inch 6 shot groupings from 30 feet away from my paper target so hopefully that is the case with the S&W 629 Competitor.
Build Quality: If you’re looking for a very solid and hefty Airsoft revolver, than I don’t think there is anything more beefy than the Umarex Smith & Wesson 629 Competitor CO2 Airsoft Revolver. It is a whopping 3.3 pounds and is almost all metal so smaller handed shooters may find this one a bit too much to hold comfortably. Fit and finish is very good and I do really like the satin stainless steel look to it even though Umarex calls it a chrome finish.
Realism: I like the shell loading revolvers for the added realism you get manually loading the cylinder with 6 preloaded shells. In almost all of the shell loading 6 shooter revolvers, the cylinder and shells are actually smaller than what you would find in a real steel 6 shooter revolver, especially the Single Action Army Revolvers as they would normally shoot a .45 caliber shell rather than a .38 caliber shells. So it is nice that Umarex didn’t just go with already to go parts and they gave the Umarex Smith & Wesson 629 Competitor CO2 Airsoft Revolver newly designed larger shells and a larger cylinder, maybe the shells are not actually .44 caliber in size but the larger cylinder and larger shells does give it more realism. Of course almost all the parts function just like they would in a real steel revolver.
Pros:
Almost all Metal build with a very heavy weight of 3.3 pounds.
Full adjustable rear sight for windage and elevation.
Comes with 12 reloadable shells, most only come with 6 shells.
Grooved Pistol Grips for added comfort and grip.
Picatinny rail on top of barrel for adding a red dot or optional sight.
Nice Smith & Wesson markings on gun stamped into the frame.
Option of shooting in single or double action, nice light single action trigger.
I like the satin stainless finish.
Super realistic loading and shooting with the removable shells.
Cons:
Does come with an orange tip.
No adjustable hop-up I can see.
Rather large and heavy so not great for younger or smaller handed shooters.
Velocity may be a bit hot for some Airsoft games.
Comments:
I think my main takeaway for the Umarex Smith & Wesson 629 Competitor CO2 Airsoft Revolver is that Umarex has a new larger shell and cylinder design, which is closer to the actual shell and cylinder size of a .44 magnum, so maybe we will see this design coming out in future shell loading revolvers. Other noticeable features are for sure the size and weight of this beast. If you add a red dot or optical sight to it, then this Airsoft revolver could weigh in at nearly 4 pounds! If you want the ultimate shell loading revolver than this is probably going to be the choice to go with, unless you want it in 4.5mm steel BB or Pellet versions as at least for right now, it is only available in an Airsoft version, maybe that will change down the road…
In this Mystery Box Unboxing Video I take a look at three Airsoft products, two pistols from Umarex and two AEG Airsoft Rifles from Specna Arms. As this is essentially an Unboxing Preview Video, I don’t go into a lot of detail for each item as this is my first real exposure to these items for the most part. I will be making full Table Top and Field Test Video for each item once I get to know them a bit better and share all the specifications and features along with shooting performance.
Starting with the Umarex products, I did get the chance to checkout the Umarex Smith & Wesson 629 CO2 Airsoft Revolver at this years SHOT Show, and it is a very solid shell loading 44 Magnum styled Revolver with full Smith and Wesson licensing. From what I remember this item may only come in the Airsoft version at the time of this review and it does have a claimed velocity of 500 which may be a bit hot for Airsoft games but it would be a lot of fun shooting at pop cans and the likes.
The second Umarex products is a pretty basic mostly clear plastic Spring Powered Beretta 92 FS Airsoft Pistol. It is fairly light weight with it’s mostly all plastic construction and the velocity is also on the lower side at only around 250 fps. Since it is distributed by Umarex it carries the Beretta licensing which is nice and all, but on a clear plastic gun I am not sure if is really a major feature.
The first Airsoft Rifle out of the Mystery Box was the Specna Arms SA-FX11 FLEX AEG Airsoft Rifle which is your standard AR configuration, mine was the shorter barrel version but it does come in a longer barrel version as well. The top and bottom receiver and most of the outer components are going to be Nylon Fiber Reinforced Plastic. It does include features like Rotational Hop Up Chamber, SA ETU™ Optical Electronic System Optimizes for improved trigger response and Quick Spring Change System to name a few.
Something I don’t see too often are Pink Assault Rifles! So it was nice to get the pink version of the Specna Arms SA-FX02 FLEX AEG Airsoft Rifle. It does come in a Black and Tan version along with an all Black configuration. It’s really a great looking AEG Airsoft Rifle in any color you decide to go with, and I like the compact feel it has with lots of options for mounting accessories on the top bottom and side rails. You can get going right away using the included pop-up front and rear sights or throw a red dot or optical sight on it.
In this months Replica Airguns Mystery Unboxing Preview Video, I take a look at 4 new items that showed up at my door. Two Airsoft Rifles, one being AEG and the other one a GBB. I also received two accessories for the GEM Alias super tiny multi ammo CO2 Pistol, A .50 caliber Paintball Barrel for it and and a 12 gram CO2 Adapter.
Both Airsoft Rifles are new to me from a company called Novritsch which is a higher end brand so the pricing is not cheap for either Airsoft Rifle. It was nice to get an AEG and GBB to review, the Novritsch SSR77 AEG Airsoft Rifle is a Replica of the Steyr AUG while the Novritsch SSQ22 GBB Airsoft Rifle is essentially a custom modded Ruger 10/22 copy, at least from what I can tell, it is solid and really well built.
I have already made a Table Top Video for the GEM Alias CO2 Pistol but I have been waiting for the .50 Caliber Paintball Barrel to show up so I can test out all 4 barrel ammo options. I also really wanted the 12 gram CO2 Adapter so I don’t have to use the small 8 gram CO2’s which are harder to find and not as cost effective as the 12 gram CO2. So now I am totally ready to make the GEM Field Test Shooting Review.
I spoke with Jacob from Barra and he went over a lot of new products adn updated products Barra is introducing this year. We discussed some new PCP Air Rifles with Canada import options, Jacob went over some new updates to their 1866 Muti-pump BB and Pellet Lever Action Rifle, and he went over Barra’s Gen 2 400e AEG BB rifle which include a higher capacity magazine, an increased velocity and unproved internal tolerances for smoother BB flow. Lastly Barra is introducing high grade 4.5mm BB’s that a re procession ground to be more uniform for improved accuracy and better BB feeding. Great for full auto guns.
It was nice to run into ASG (Action Sports Games) right away and talk with Bob for ASG. Bob always has a great understanding of the ASG product line and each year I Interview him and find out all the news and updated product in the ASG lineup. This year Bob’s goes over the new ASG CZ P-10 C CO2 Blowback BB Pistol, the Action Army C1 Pro Bolt Action CO2 Airsoft Rifle, ASG’s new Frag Impact Sound Grenades, along with some new additions to the Shadow 2 Series of Airsoft Pistols. Was a great start to this years SHOT Show 2025!

Trigger Pull: The Alias GEM Multi Ammo Mini CO2 Airgun is a true single action only pistol that requires the pulling back of the hammer for each shot. This does give it a very nice trigger action that is short to medium in length with an easy release. The makeup is about medium for a single action trigger with a bit of an unpredictable release as there is no point in time that you feel it breaking on you. This can be good or bad depending on how you like your triggers as it is hard to tel when ti will actually release but the smoothness makes it a good trigger overall in my opinion
Accuracy: I have not shot the Alias GEM Multi Ammo Mini CO2 Airgun at all so far as it requires 8 gram CO2 and so I am waiting on the 12 gram adaptor for it before I can even give it a quick try. I will be making a full Field test Review for it swapping between a bunch of barrel options to see how each barrel adn ammo type performs in terms of power adn accuracy so stay posted for that video down the road a bit.
Build Quality: Build quality for the Alias GEM Multi Ammo Mini CO2 Airgun is very good with an almost all metal build other than the front and back sights, the trigger, the safety adn the barrel release. I kind of wish these parts were also metal as the rest of the Airgun is so pristine! The weight of this pistol feels very dense as it is so small yet has a good weight. The fir and finishes is all very good with the chrome finish on most parts and even the inclusion of what I believe are real gem stones on each side of the grips. The mechanical parts are also smooth and precise.
Realism: As far as I know the Alias GEM Multi Ammo Mini CO2 Airgun is not a replica of any production real steel gun that I am aware of. It looks to me like some sort of futuristic compact laser pistol? In terms of gun shape and what we are use to in terms of what a gun is it checks most of the boxes but it is it’s own design for sure.
Pros:
Super compact design, probably the smallest Airgun available.
Multiple quick change barrel and ammo options.
Mostly all metal build, very high quality materials.
Nice smooth and light SAO trigger.
Able to also use 12 gram CO2 with optional adapter.
Comes in different colors (red or black).
Decent velocity up to 400 fps depending on ammo type.
Eye-catching chrome and gemstone detailing make it a collector's piece.
Cons:
Uses 8 grams CO2 standard, harder to get and more expensive.
Only a single shot, not an action shooter.
On the pricy side at over $300 Canadian.
Comments:
I have to say that the Alias GEM Multi Ammo Mini CO2 Airgun is not going to be for everyone as the price point is up there a bit for such a simple single action gun. That said it is super unique and the quality adn design is top notch. It may in fact be the smallest CO2 Airgun on the market adn you can literally put it in your front pocket easily. That combined with all the barrel and ammo options makes it super flexible if you plan on shooting a variety of different ammo types. Like I said in the video you may even be able to get away with buying it as a gift for your wife or girlfriend since it technically can be defined as being jewelry with the imbedded Gem stones in the grips. That may be a bit of a stretch unless she is also an Airgun fan.
Type: Less Lethal Pistol. Manufacturer:Umarex - T4E. Model:P2P HDP 50 Compact. Materials: Metal & Polymer. Weight: 1.3 pounds (585 grams). Barrel: 4 inches (108mm) Smooth bore. Total Length: 7.2 inches (183mm). Power Source: 1x8 gram CO2. Action: Semi auto - Double action only trigger. Ammo Type: .50 Caliber Rubber Ball, Pepper Ball, Powder Ball. Ammo Capacity: 4 Round spring fed internal magazine. FPS: 365 (11 Joules).
Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on Umarex P2P HDP 50 Compact CO2 Less Lethal Pistol is double action only but not overly long or heavy. There does not seem to be any ammo friction which is nice, so each round feels about the same with spring tension not playing much of a factor. In order to use the trigger, the Pistol will need to be fully charged by loading an 8 gram CO2 and giving it a smack on the bottom of the pistol grip of the CO2 screw. This will pierce the 8 gram CO2, charging the gun with pressure and activation the trigger mechanism. When the CO2 pressure becomes too low, the pressure indicator will retract and the trigger will not function and a new CO2 will be required for more shooting.
Accuracy: So far I have not tried out the Umarex P2P HDP 50 Compact CO2 Less Lethal Pistol in the Replica Airguns Indoor Airgun Shooting Range, I have shot its big brother the Umarex P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 and it did shoot around a 6 inch 6 shot grouping for me with a velocity of around 450 fps that worked out to around a 15 joule energy rating. I do not expect the same from the Umarex P2P HDP 50 Compact CO2 Less Lethal Pistol as it is claimed with a lower velocity of 365 and an energy rating of 11 joules. It should get pretty close to this based on it’s bigger brother’s performance.
Build Quality: The build quality of the Umarex P2P HDP 50 Compact CO2 Less Lethal Pistol is very good overall. It is mostly made out of plastic which is fine, since it is designed to be a compact and portable pistol which should be on the lighter side. There is metal where it needs to be in most of the mechanical areas including the barrel, trigger, charging system and I am sure other internal parts. The plastic parts feel well made and fit and finish is very good. I wish the trigger guard that swings down to load the ammo clicked back into place better as it seems easy for it to open up and potentially get caught on clothing or objects while using it.
Realism: This version of the Umarex P2P HDP 50 Compact CO2 Less Lethal Pistol comes with the orange slide area to show that it is not a lethal firearm. It may also come in an all black version but at this time we only sell the colored slide version. This does make it obvious that the Umarex P2P HDP 50 Compact CO2 Less Lethal Pistol is not a “Real Firearm” designed for lethal encounters, which in Canada is a good thing since our self protection laws seem to favor the criminal more than the victim. Making sure you are using a tool designed to deter a criminal rather than harm or kill them, is hopefully going to keep you out of trouble with the legal system. That said the Umarex P2P HDP 50 Compact CO2 Less Lethal Pistol does look kinda like a modern or futuristic semi auto pistol and functions much the same but with a lot less force.
Pros:
Not many options for a true less-lethal option here in Canada. This Airgun is purpose built for less lethal use so it has what I believe a decent amount power to hopefully deter an intruder.
It is clearly marked in orange to indicate it is not an actual lethal firearm. When protecting yourself in Canada you have to be cautious with your intentions, and having clear orange markings will help in your case to show that you where not trying to give the impression of using a real firearm.
Decent power of claimed 365 fps with a 11 Joules energy rating.
Can store the 8 gram CO2 in it and activate with a quick hit to the bottom of the CO2 screw.
Holds 4 rounds in the internal magazine which hopefully gets the job done. Should be able to reload at least one more time for a total of 8 shots per 8 gram CO2.
Black post front and orange notch rear sights have enough contrast to make sighting on most targets stand out.
Double action trigger feels smooth and not too heavy, also has a trigger safety on it.
Comes with 10 rubber and 10 powder balls along with three 8 gram CO2 to get you started.
Compact size is nice if you want to cary it with you, (law permitting).
Cons:
Uses 8 gram CO2 which are harder to get and more expensive than 12 gram CO2, will also get less shots per CO2 and quicker cool down.
No Picatinny rail or adjustable sights.
Only holds 4 rounds.
In Canada it does not seem you can get pepper balls easily most likely due to import regulations.
Comments:
I really liked the big full size brother of the Umarex P2P HDP 50 Compact CO2 Less Lethal Pistol and it did turn out to not only be fairly accurate but also performed well in the power category, coming in even a bit higher than the claimed 13 joules of energy with a real world rating for me of 15 joules using standard .50 caliber rubber balls. So I am hoping the Umarex P2P HDP 50 Compact CO2 Less Lethal Pistol with its 365 fps rating and 11 claimed joules will at least hit the mark. Yes it is a bit less powerful but it is also a lot smaller and more compact if you where interest in conceal caring it. Again law permitting in your area! Stay posted for my Field Test Shooting Video where I will find out if the Umarex P2P HDP 50 Compact CO2 Less Lethal Pistol performs as expected.

Todays video is all about “damage”! How much damage can each of these .50 caliber ball options deliver to an object and the object of interest in todays video are a couple of over rip pumpkins that needed putting out of their misery. Luckily when I made this video the weather outside was cooperating with me and I go tI nice break in the rain. This was awesome as I was not looking forward to al the cleanup I would of had to of done if I performed this test inside the Replica Airgun Sea Can Shooting Range.
This is part three of my three part Indoor Filed Test Shooting Video for the Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol. In this third video I test out the velocity and energy shooting 5 rounds through my Chronograph using the 8 gram All Steel Balls that I purchased on my own to test with this Less Lethal Pistol. I also shoot 5 rounds of the same All Steel Balls into a paper target setup 30 feet down range to get an idea on what to expect accuracy wise with the Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol. I have already uploaded Field Test Shooting Videos one and two where I test out 1.6 gram All Rubber Balls and 2.7 gram Rubber/Steel Balls. Umarex claims a max velocity of 485 fps with an energy rating of 13 Joules with the Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol when using their supplied ammo. I am assuming this would be using the Powder Balls as they are the lightest option of Ammo that are included in the box with this pistol and will have the highest velcoity. In my Chronograph testing I shot 5 rounds using the 8 gram All Steel balls. The velocity for the 8 gram All Steel Balls was much slower than the 1.6 gram All Rubber Balls and 2.7 gram Rubber/Steel Balls as expected, but they did stay fairly consistent ranging from a low of 132 fps to a high of 151 fps, averaging 138 fps. The overall energy rating ended up being the slowest by far out of all the rounds I tested in this Less Lethal Pistol, with an energy rating of only 7 Joules. Based on energy alone I would suggest using the All Rubber Balls as they achieved the highest energy rating at 15 Joules, even higher than claimed by Umarex.
Now that we understand that the 8 gram All Steel .50 Caliber All Steel Balls are not only the lowest velocity by a long shot, they also have the lowest energy rating again by a lot as compared to the other rounds tested. Maybe when I compare the accuracy during my target Test the .50 Caliber All Reel Rounds may redeem themselves. After Shooting 5 of the 8 Gram All Steel Rounds into my Paper Target from a distance of 30 feet, I did actually get the tightest grouping, even with a heavily fading CO2 that was near it’s end, so velocity did taper off making the shots shoot lower and lower with each shot. I did throw the final 5th shot out as I could literally see it loft to the target but even with the low CO2 and inconsistent velocity, I got my best grouping from the Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol with a 3 inch grouping just slightly to the left of the bullseye but very close.
I was not surprised with the performance of the Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol using the 8 gram All Steel Balls for this third Field Test. Velocity was much lower as expected than the other lighter rounds tested, but most surprising, the energy was around half of the All Rubber Balls. Perhaps the metal rounds just did not reach their maximum speed in such a short barrel due to them being a so much heavier weight? My conclusion on Ammo choice for the Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol would be to go with either the All Rubber Balls or the Rubber Steel Balls. The All Rubber Balls by far had the highest velocity and energy rating but I did feel like the Rubber Steel Balls even though they where moving slower and had slightly less energy, seemed to hit the target with the most force based on the sound I was hearing while performing the testing. Either round will for sure make an intruder think twice about continuing their course of bad behavior. I will probably do some testing on how each of these rounds effects different targets in the future, I just need to figure out what I want to shoot at…
This is part two of my three part Indoor Filed Test Shooting Video for the Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol. In this second video I test out the velocity and energy shooting 5 rounds through my Chronograph, using the 2.7 gram Rubber/Steel Balls that I purchased on my own to test with this Less Lethal Pistol. I also shoot 5 rounds into a paper target setup 30 feet down range to get an idea on what to expect accuracy wise with the Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol. In video three I plan to test out the 8 gram all Steel Balls to see they are a viable option with a CO2 Pistol like this designed for much lighter rounds . Umarex claims a max velocity of 485 fps with an energy rating of 13 Joules with the Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol when using their supplied ammo. I am assuming this would be using the Powder Balls as they seem to be a bit lighter than the Rubber Balls and will have the highest velcoity. In my Chronograph testing I shot 5 rounds using the 2.7 gram Rubber/Steel balls. The velocity for the 2.7 gram Rubber/Steel Balls was slower as expected but they did stay fairly consistent ranging from a low of 300 fps to a high of 309 fps averaging 304 fps. The overall energy rating ended up being 12 Joules, so obviously lower in fps than claimed by Umarex but close to the claimed 13 Joules. Still a good result close to the claimed raw energy.
The main point to this ammo comparison video is to finds out not only if the heavier 2.7 gram Rubber/Steel Balls will have around the same energy as the lighter 1.6 gram all Rubber Balls, but also to see if they have similar accuracy. In terms of accuracy the 2.7 gram Rubber/Steel Balls did just a little bit better than the 1.6 gram all Rubber Balls, not by a lot but, by about 1 inch with a 5 round grouping of 5 inches. All 5 shots were well entered shooting just a bit high of my aim point by about 3 inches but in general well centered left to right as a grouping.
I was happy with the performance of the Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol using the 2.7 gram Rubber/Steel Balls for this second Field Test. Energy was very close to the claimed 13 Joules and the average 304 fps I got with this ammo felt snappy and got to the target quickly and sounded like they really hit hard. I do like the higher 15 Joules and 450 fps I got from the lighter 1.6 gram all Rubber Balls, so at this point I would probably recommend sticking with them for the most power and energy down range. Next up I test out the 8 gram all Steel Balls to find out if they are even an option or if they are simply juts to heavy for the Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol.

Umarex claims a max velocity of 485 fps with an energy rating of 13 Joules with the Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol. In my Chronograph testing I shot 5 rounds using the 1.6 gram included all rubber balls. I did throwout the first shot as it was about 50 fps lower than the rest, perhaps as it was first out of the barrel which can happen. The other 4 rounds averaged 445 fps with an overall energy rating of 15 Joules, so a bit slow in fps than claimed by Umarex but a higher energy output. Perhaps the fps rating was for lighter rounds like the included 10 powder balls? Still an excellent result with more raw energy than expected which is great for a system designed to deter an intruder!
What good is power if you can not hit the target? That’s why I always test out accuracy as you want your gun to shoot where you point it. With Rubber Balls they tend to “wing” or “curl” a bit in the air which does spread out the groupings a bit over a BB or even Airsoft gun, so I was not expecting under a 2 inch grouping. My goal was to hit the target fairly centered with around a 6 inch grouping and the Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol did exactly that for me, so mission accomplished. I also wanted to find out how many shots to expect from a fresh 12 gram CO2 and my results showed around 20 shots, so you can reload the internal magazine around 4 times before the trigger stops working, which is how you know the CO2 pressure is not adequate enough to shoot any more rounds.
I was very happy with the performance of the Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol using the included 1.6 gram All Rubber Balls for this Field Test. Energy was even 2 Joules higher than claimed by Umarex, and I did not have a single malfunction with this pistol through my testing of all types of ammo I used in videos 1, 2 and 3. I would say the Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol is your best option as a Less Lethal Pistol here in Canada. Will it stop a very determined intruder? Maybe not, but I would feel a little bit safer with the Umarex T4E P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol at my side than not having it at all. And a couple well aimed rounds to some soft tissue will for sure make someone reconsider some of their life choices. Stay posted for videos two and three coming out shortly…

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on Umarex P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol is double action only but not overly long or heavy. There does not seem to be any ammo friction which is nice, so the each round feels about the same with spring tension not playing a factor. In order to use the trigger, the Pistol will need to be fully charged by loading a 12 gram CO2 and giving it a smack on the bottom of the pistol grip. This will pierce the CO2, charging the gun with pressure and activation the trigger mechanism. When the CO2 pressure becomes too low, the trigger will not function and a fresh CO2 will needed to be swapped over.
Accuracy: So far I have only briefly tried out the Umarex P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol here in the Replica Airguns Indoor Airgun Shooting Range, and I was rather impressed at the initial performance as it did seem to be moving the .50 call rubber balls I was shooting at close to 500 fps with a lot of energy as my pepper and cardboard target was dislodged from the backstop after a few shots. Accuracy seems to be as expected from a Paintball type pistol, so I am expecting to get around a 4-6 inch 6 shot grouping at 30 feet away which will be effective in a Less Lethal encounter.
Build Quality: The build quality of the Umarex P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol is good overall. It is mostly made out of plastic which is fine, as I feel that if it was mostly metal, and because of its larger size, it would be on the heavy side and not something you may want to use in a cary situation if that was your plan. There is metal where it needs to be in most of the mechanical areas including the barrel, trigger, charging system and I am sure other internal parts. The plastic parts feel well made and fit and finish is very good. The Umarex P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol does have more than enough weight at 1.5 pounds to feel solid in the hand.
Realism: This version of the Umarex P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol comes with the orange slide to show that it is not a lethal firearm. I have seen all black version but at this time we only sell the colored slide version. This does make it obvious that the Umarex P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol is not a “Real Firearm” designed for lethal encounters, which in Canada is a good thing since our self protection laws seem to favor the criminal more than the victim. So making sure you are using a tool designed to deter a criminal rather than harm or kill them, is hopefully going to keep you out of trouble with the law. That said the Umarex P2P HDR 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol does look like a modern semi auto pistol and functions much the same but with less force.
Pros:
Not many options for a true less-lethal option here in Canada. This Airgun is purpose built for less lethal use so it has what I believe is enough power to actually dissuade most intruders.
In this case I like that it is clearly marked in orange to indicate it is not an actual lethal firearm. When protecting yourself in Canada you have to be cautious with your intentions, and having clear orange markings will help in your case to show that you where not trying to give the impression of using a real firearm.
Nice powerful 485fps with a 13 Joules energy rating.
Can store the 12 gram CO2 in it and activate with a quick hit to the bottom of the CO2 screw.
Holds 6 rounds in the internal magazine which hopefully gets the job done. Should be able to reload at least one more time for a total of 12 shots per 12 gram CO2.
Fiber Optic sights make it easy to line up your target in most lighting conditions and backgrounds.
Double action trigger feels smooth and not too heavy or long, also has a trigger safety on it.
Can add a tactical light or laser to the under barrel picatinny rail.
Comes with 10 rubber and 10 powder balls to get you started.
Cons:
It is a bit on the larger size, not going to be easy to cary if that is your plan. I do not know what the legal ramifications of carrying this would be as it is clearly designed for protection and not for lethal encounters.
Not a lot of shots per CO2 but the idea here is to quickly deliver as much damage as possible, this is not a weapon for prolonged gun fights.
In Canada it does not seem you can get pepper balls easily most likely due to import regulations.

The Umarex P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol is a very refreshing product for us here in Canada as up until now similar styled Rubber Ball purpose built self defense products we have been able to get, in my opinion simply did not have enough power to really be effective other than the initial intimidation of holding what looks like a firearm. If it came down to actually shooting it, I don’t believe there would be enough stopping power to deter an intruder. The Umarex P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol on the other hand has a 485 fps, 13 Joules power rating which is a rather big jump from other similar products available to us here in Canada and although it may not stop everyone, I do believe you have a much better chance protecting yourself with the Umarex P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol. If you are looking for something to have at home to help you feel a bit safer, then the Umarex P2P HDP 50 Gen 2 CO2 Less Lethal Pistol is the absolute best option for Canadians at this time.
This was a really fun Unboxing Video for me as I received something I feel a lot of Canadians might be really interested in protecting yourself in Canada is not a right especially if you use lethal force. So having a less lethal option is a really good idea.
Let’s get into what I found in this most recent Mystery Box in order of appearance…
The first item I unboxed was the KWC SP2022 CO2 NBB 4.5mm Steel BB Pistol. A pretty basic 4.5mm CO2 BB Pistol mostly made out of plastic but with a full size 21 round drop out metal magazine that does help a lot to add some much needed weight to this Airgun. It uses standard 12 gram CO2 with a claimed velocity of 450 fps.
Probably the most exciting item I pulled out of this months Mystery Box was the Gen2 Umarex P2P HDP 50 Rubber Ball purpose built Less-lethal solution for personal and family protection. Most of the similar Rubber ball Less-lethal Airguns I have tested generally do not pack enough punch to really be much of a deterrent in my opinion but the Gen2 Umarex P2P HDP 50 has a claimed 495 fps and when I tested it out after making this video it defiantly has some power. I would not want to be at the receiving end of this product especially in close proximity. The Gen2 Umarex P2P HDP 50 uses a traditional 12 gram CO2 and holds 6 rounds of rubber ball or powder ball, it does come with 10 of each to get you started.
Next I took a look at three KJWORKS Airsoft Pistols all of which came with CO2 Magazines, extension barrels and thread on tips. The KJWORKS KP-19, the KJWORKS M9A1 TBC, and the KJWORKS KP-13 TBC. As expected with KJWORKS Airsoft Guns, they looked really good and will be a joy to review and test out.
Last out of the Mystery Box was a new product from Umarex, a full sized Marlin Cowboy Lever Action BB Rifle in the style of the classic Red Ryder BB Gun but as mentioned in a larger size more suitable for an adult. Hey why do the kids get to have all the fun? The Umarex Marlin BB Rifle holds 650 rounds in its BB hopper and has a claimed fps pf 300. It also has an adjustable for elevation peep sight in the back with a metal lever and a Classic Faux Wood Finish.
In this performance Field Test Shooting Video for the John Wayne Marshal CO2 BB Revolver, I test out what the fps velocity is using a fresh standard 12 gram CO2 cartridge and shooting 4.5mm Steel BB’s through my Chronograph. I then setup a paper target 30 feet down range and shoot 10 rounds into it using the Single Action Only Trigger to see how tight of a grouping I can get out of the box. First up for my velocity fps test of the John Wayne Marshal CO2 BB Revolver, I shot 5 rounds through my Chronograph. The slowest fps was 354 and the fastest shot hit an fps of 368, this result averaged 358 fps which was a somewhat under the claimed “up to” 420 fps from AirVenturi, still an OK velocity for shooting pop cans and the likes up to 30-40 feet away. The temperature in the Sea Can was about 20 degrees Celsius which is around 68 degrees Fahrenheit, so a good temperature to get middle of the road performance from a CO2 Airgun like the John Wayne Marshal CO2 BB Revolver. In warmer temperatures you can expect higher velocities…
I then placed my paper target on my pellet trap 30 feet downrange and using my standard semi rested shooting position (hands rested on a sandbag up front and sitting on a stool in the back), I proceeded to shoot 10 rounds into the target with the John Wayne Marshal CO2 BB Revolver and I was able to get about a 4 inch grouping well centered up and down but pushed to the left about 3 inches. I am not sure why this shot grouping spread out so much for me as my Crosman Forty Filed Test Review gave me a much better grouping and these guns are literally the same gun with different branding being the only real differences. Maybe I was just off on this day? Hey it happens sometimes!
The John Wayne Marshal CO2 BB Revolver is a lower cost mostly plastic Single Action Army Revolver with a fair amount of plastic in the build, but it does feel fairly well built and fairly solid other than being a bit lighter weight. It should produce close to 400 fps velocities in warmer conditions which is more than enough for plinking and pop can shooting which is really what it is built for. I do have to mention that this John Wayne Marshal CO2 BB Revolver for whatever reason is double the price of the Crosman Fortify CO2 BB Revolver I reviewed earlier, so if you don’t care about the John Wayne Licensing, than maybe consider the Crosman version for a lower priced option.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the John Wayne Marshal CO2 BB Revolver is a single action only trigger, so you will have to cock the hammer back with each shot which does take away most of the trigger pull length and weight, making the Marshal trigger short and light and easy to shoot. Ideal for slowed down accurate shot placement, but less effective as an action shooter unless you have a very quick thumb!
Accuracy: I have not tested out the John Wayne Marshal CO2 BB Revolver but it should perform exactly like the Crosman Fortify revolver as they are literally the exact same gun with the exception of the branding and licensing. In my Field Test Shooting Review for the Crosman Fortify CO2 BB Revolver it did shoot a little bit lower than the claimed 420 fps and shot around a 2 inch 10 shot grouping at a target setup 30 feet away. Build Quality: When it comes to the build for the John Wayne Marshal CO2 BB Revolver, there is not a lot to get overly excited about. It is basically a mostly all plastic gun with some metal parts internally like the barrel, trigger, hammer and CO2 area. The John Wayne Marshal has that lower cost Airgun, two halves, screwed together build which generally looks better on the side without the screws showing. As it is mostly plastic it is on the light side at around just over a pound. Overall there are not a lot of moving parts so it should be reliable enough just for that reason alone. All the mechanical components do what they need to do and feel solid enough.
Realism: The John Wayne Marshal CO2 BB Revolver at a glance looks a lot like a Colt Single Action Army Revolver, it has the same shape and size but the weight is much less at about half. The lack of actual bullet holes in the cylinder looking from the front of the revolver does take away from its realism. I guess I am really used to the new generation revolvers with working cylinders and real loadable and removable shells, but these guns are more expensive and hold less ammo as they are genuine to the 6 shooter capacity.
Pros:
A decent looking replica of a Colt Single Action Army revolver.
Single action only trigger is short and light and well suited to careful shot placement shooting.
420 claimed fps is about perfect for plinking at ranges up 30-40 feet.
18 round magazine has a nice high capacity and easy to load when empty
Safety is well thought out and built into an already existing part of the gun rather than simply adding a switch afterwards.
I like the look with the all back frame and bone white grips.
CO2 Allen key is built into grip so you always have it on hand and will not lose it.
John Wayne licensed for those old west John Wayne fans.
Cons:
Mostly plastic builds makes it a bit light in the hand.
No fake shell holes in the front of the cylinder, could have added this for a more genuine look.
Twice the price of the Crosman Fortify which is basically the same Airgun.
Comments: The John Wayne Marshal CO2 BB Revolver is for sure an option if you are looking for an old west single action cowboy BB shooter and specifically if you are a John Wayne fan. If you don't care about the John Wayne licensing and want to save about half of the price then my recommendation is to go for the Crosman Fortify as it is the same exact CO2 BB Revolver at the end of the day minus the john Wayne licensing on it. You also have the option of buying one of the many Shell Loading Single Action Army Revolvers available but they are a bit more money and will shoot a little slower with less ammo capacity but the trade of is a lot more realism.

I have reviewed many of the Shell Loading Revolvers in the past and I always enjoy shooting them anytime one shows up on my desk for review. So here I go again but this time with a product from Crosman but with the Remington License on it. As always, I test out the power using my Chronograph by shooting several rounds through it and averaging them out. I also setup a paper target 30 feet down range and generally put an entire cylinder or mag into it or 10 rounds depending on the capacity of the magazine or cylinder. In this Field test Shooting Video I did all of that but times two as the Crosman Remington 1875 CO2 Dual Ammo Revolver shoots both 4.5mm Steel BB’s and .177 Caliber lead pellets. Starting with the velocity, or power for the Crosman Remington 1875 CO2 Dual Ammo Revolver, I measured using my Chronograph using a brand new 12 gram CO2 and I shot three rounds of BB’s and four rounds of pellets and averaged them out. Here are my BB Chronograph results in FPS: 423, 407, 398 (409 average). Here are my pellet Chronograph results in FPS: 300, 274, 270, 271 (279 average). I was using standard lead pellets which should be right around 7 grain while my 4.5mm Steel BB’s were around 5 grain. Temperature was average room temperature I would say.
For my Accuracy test I shot a full 6 round magazine of each ammo type or at least I tried to, but for some reason I was missing a round in my pellet test so I only shot five rounds for that one. For BB’s all shots were fairly well centered on the target but they did spread out to about 2.5 inches. Pellets dropped a bit perhaps as they were moving a lot slower? My pellet result was about the same at around 2.5 inches of spread between all 5 shots. The spread with the pellets was wider compared to the spread of the BB’s which was more vertical.
I have gotten more accurate results with other shell loading revolvers build in a similar fashion as the Crosman Remington 1875 CO2 Dual Ammo Revolver so I was expecting a little bit better results, but it could have been me that was the problem on this day? Still a close to two inch shot group at 30 feet away will generally nock pop cams over or other similar sized targets and this CO2 Revolver is really only meant for plinking fun and not so much match grade shooting. The Crosman Remington 1875 CO2 Dual Ammo Revolver is a real looker at the end of the day and if your want a single action only classic Western Revolver than look no further.
