Right off the bat if you’re looking for a replica Airgun that has a lot of blowback recoil, a great trigger and shoots really well then there is no need to read the rest of this Field Test Shooting Video Review since the Umarex HK USP Blowback CO2 BB Pistol checks off all of these boxes. If you want to find out how it performed for me then hang around and read the rest of my Review for the details…
Starting off with power otherwise know as velocity, I performed the same old reliable test I always do by shooting 5 rounds through my Chronograph and then averaging them out for my real world feet per second performance. I was using a brand new 12 gram CO2 along with 5.1 grain RWS 4.5mm Steel BB’s and the temperature was right around 21 degrees Celsius or 70 degrees Fahrenheit, so not cold or hot. On the box or should I say plastic clam shell, Umarex claims the Umarex HK USP Blowback CO2 BB Pistol will get up to 325 fps and this is pretty close since I averaged 328 with my 5 shots, the highest being 331 and the lowest at 225.
Next up was my accuracy test for the Umarex HK USP Blowback CO2 BB Pistol, this is the part of my Shooting Field Test I enjoy the most! I placed a fresh target on my ammo trap 30 feet down range and got settled in 30 feet back using a semi rested position (Sand bag up front and seated in the back). I proceeded to put 10 consecutive shots into my paper target and got a nice grouping from my Umarex HK USP Blowback CO2 BB Pistol about 2 inches in total fairly centered down the middle but a little bit low. Since the built in Hop-up is not adjustable you will have to aim a little bit over your target at least at 30 feet out, perhaps not shooting up a little bit closer in distance.
Overall the Umarex HK USP Blowback CO2 BB Pistol is really great to shoot, the blowback action has I would say as much if not more to it than any of the airguns I have tested to date, I love the overall realism with it’s full size drop out metal magazine, full cycle blowback and pretty much every part on it works like the real steal version, so just an overall great trainer and must have if you own a real steel HK USP. And if you don’t own any version of the HK USP then I recommend picking up this one for sure!
Type: Blowback CO2 BB Pistol. Manufacturer: Distributed by Umarex. Model:HK USP. Materials: Metal & Polymer. Weight: 2.15 pounds (975 grams). Barrel: 4 inches, metal non-rifled. Propulsion: CO2 x 1. Action: Semi auto single and double action trigger. Ammunition Type: 4.5mm steel BB's. Ammunition Capacity: 16 round drop out full size metal magazine. FPS: Claimed 325.
Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the Umarex HK USP Blowback CO2 BB Pistol feel good in both single and double action modes. Single action has a reduced reset with very little take-up before it release, the trigger weigth in single action is fairly light. In double action the trigger pull starts out a bit longer and heavier but then lightens up just before it releases. This will only be for the first shot since follow up shots will be single action afterwards.
Accuracy: At this point I have not shot the Umarex HK USP Blowback CO2 BB Pistol so I can only quote what Umarex is saying in terms of FP2 which is 325. That's sounds about right for a full blowback CO2 BB pistol in this style. We will find out when I get to my Field Test Shooting Video for the Umarex HK USP Blowback CO2 BB Pistol.
Build Quality: TheUmarex HK USP Blowback CO2 BB Pistol looks to be really well made. It's super solid at 2.25 pounds with a nice balance since the slide and magazine are both full metal. There is virtually no slide play but I am noticing just a little bit of paint wear around some of the high spots and in the breach area. This is common with KWC Airguns which may be the actual manufacturer of this Air Pistol, either KWC or VFC, I'm not sure?
Realism: The Umarex HK USP Blowback CO2 BB Pistol is virtually identical in looks to the Real Steel HK USP, it also functions nearly the same with it's full blowback operation, full size drop out metal magazine and working slide catch, safety and single and double action trigger. Thanks to Umarex the Umarex HK USP Blowback CO2 BB Pistol is full HK licensed also helping to pull of a believable replica. Available From: The Replica Airguns Store.
Pros:
Full blowback action with full size drop out metal magazine, what we all love to see!
Fully field strippable.
Metal parts where where you would find them on the real steal HK USP.
Very accurate replica of the original HK USP.
HK Licensed via Umarex.
White dot sights easy to sight in your target.
Single and double action trigger.
Rail for accessories.
Cons:
Not a big fan a of the clamshell packaging, makes the gun seem cheap even before you actually hold and feel it.
Sights are none adjustable.
Warning writing on the right side of slide is a bit obvious.
Comments:
I really didn't mind the previous non-blowback CO2 BB version of the HK USP as it had a full size metal magazine and metal slide making it feel great in the hand while still looking the part. That said having a full blowback version with a true single action trigger makes this the obvious choice for me. I'm really looking forward to shooting my Umarex HK USP Blowback CO2 BB Pistol and seeing what kind of fps velocity and accuracy we get from it in the Sea Can!
All three licensed guns are really great, you already know my thoughts on the Umarex Glock 19 CO2 BB Pistol since I have previously made bunch of videos on it already. I also have reviews for the Umarex Walther PPS but not the M2 version which is the one that came in my care package. The new Umarex Walther PPS M2 is a much more modern and smoothed out version of the PPS. The standard PPS kind of looks a bit like a flattened out Walther CP99 While the Umarex Walther PPS M2 is a lot more unique.
I do have to say I really like the new fully licensed Umarex HK USP Blowback version, Umarex has had their non blowback HK USP out for a long time but it is pretty basic with no blowback or working slide but it does look the part and shoots pretty good. The new Umarex HK USP Blowback CO2 BB Pistol has everything we like in a replica Airgun: Full blowback operation, a full sized all metal drop out magazine that holds the CO2 and Steel BB's. Metal parts where you would expect them like the slide, hammer, trigger, magazine release, magazine, slide catch release and even the removable sights. Of course there are lots internal metal parts too like the barrel, springs and pins.
Look forward to my upcoming Table Top and Field Test Shooting Video Reviews for the Umarex HK USP Blowback CO2 BB Pistol and the Umarex Walther PPS M2 Blowback CO2 BB Pistol.
