I often have people ask me what is more powerful in terms of one gun over another and which Airguns have more raw power, BB versus, Pellet, versus Airsoft, versus Paintball?

Well in this indoor field test shooting video I compare all of the above head to head to see which Airgun not only has the most raw power but also how well they perform on a target setup 30 feet down range since after all what does it matter how powerful a gun is if it can not hit the target!

The Airguns I used in this head to head shooting performance test where as follows:

• EKOL ES 55 Non Blowback 4.5mm BB Pistol

• Umarex Desert Eagle Blowback .177 Cal. Pellet Pistol

• Cybergun Desert Eagle Blowback 6mm Airsoft Pistol

• Umarex T4E TR50 .50 Cal. Paintball Revolver

Keep in mind the ammunition for each Airgun is very different not just in terms of materials but also their weight which will have a big effect on the energy they produce. For example for this test I used 4.6 grain 4.5mm Steel BBs, 4.6 grain 6mm Aluminum Airsoft BB’s. 6.9 grain .177 cal. Lead Pellets and 17.7 grain .50 cal. Rubber Paintballs.

More guns to show off! Good for you and me! In this update video I show you some very interesting guns indeed! As many of you are aware, the Baikal Makarov MP-654K CO2 4.5mm Steel BB pistol has been really hard to find new here in Canada, making the price of used ones escalate up into the $700+ price range for one in as new condition. Well for those looking to buy a Baikal Makarov MP-654K we have located some and have them for sale now in our Canada Replica Airguns store (Very limited supply). Another CO2 BB pistol that has been out of stock for some time is the EKOL ES series. I reviewed the ES 55 CO2 BB Pistol a while back but until now have not been able to show off the ES 66 Series which is more browning high power looking in design. The good news is we have both the ES 55 and ES 66 CO2 4.5mm Steel BB Pistol in stock in our Canada Store. These guns are mostly metal with full size drop out metal magazines that hold the CO2 and BB's, they also shoot in both single and double action and have pretty decent power! I've looked at several Gletcher Airguns over the last little while and finally got my hands on the Gletcher APS Blowback CO2 BB Pistol which is a replica of the Russian Stechkin Soviet Military sidearm introduced back in the 50's. It's kind of a bigger brother version of the Makarov, i was surprised at how large it actually was when i got my hands on it! The real steel version had the ability to shoot in both semi and full-auto but my Gletcher APS 4.5mm BB replica only shoots in semi auto. • EKOL ES 55 CO2 4.5MM BB PISTOL REVIEW

Another airgun I have been really curious about the actual fps, is the EKOL ES 55. It's one of my only BB pistols that can shoot clean though a soup can. Some of the other BB shooter almost make it but just not quite, even with ratings as high as 480 fps!

The EKOL ES 55 is an overall really nice BB gun with a heavy duty all metal build and it even sports a rifled barrel, another feature not often found in BB shooters.

Now that I have my Chrony chronograph, I am able to actually test these guns and find out their true feet per second ratings and from what I'm seeing, most of the guns come in under their rated fps. My EKOL ES 55 actually did pretty well, the manual claims 120 M/S which translates to 396 fps but interestingly, they actually claimed 360 fps?

So I really needed to get to the bottom of it! I took 15 shots (a full magazine) with the EKOL ES 55 with a few seconds gap between each shot and the gun stayed pretty consistently right around the 420 fps mark. Not bad at all and actually above the claimed feet per second rating!

So if your looking for a good quality BB pistol with 400+ fps, look no further then the EKOL ES 55!

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on this gun is fairly heavy in double action mode as the hammer spring is firm. In Single action mode the trigger pull lightened up a lot and allows for respective target shooting.

Accuracy: I conducted my test shooting from a target 20 feet away in a free standing position. The EKOL ES 55 gave me a respective 2 inch grouping. I think with practice, I could get this easily down to a 1 to 1.5 inch group as I was not initial comfortable shooting this gun. After shooting it for a while I did become used to the characteristics of the ES 55.

Build Quality: The EKOL ES 55 comes from a company primarily making blank guns. EKOL makes this gun directly from a similar model (The EKOL Sava) that shoots blanks so in many ways the ES 55 is designed more like a real gun than an air gun. The EKOL ES 55 is all metal with rubber grips and feels fantastic in the hand. There are really no plastic parts to speak of and I could not find any quality concerns on this gun at all! The gloss black painted finish is flawless on this gun!

Realism: The EKOL ES 55 is not a replica of any one gun so to speak, it looks a bit like a bunch of guns: maybe the closest one being the Glock? It does have characteristics from other guns but in terms of does this look like a real gun? Yes very much so, and when you hold it in your hand, you will find it hard to believe its an airgun.

Pros:

• Ejection port is moulded into the gun.

• Sights a bit hard to see on dark backgrounds.

• Slide does not move when magazine loaded into gun.

• Slide release is non functioning.

Comments:

This is my first ever air gun from EKOL, I have been very happy with their blank guns so it does not surprise me that their CO2 BB guns are just as nice. The EKOL ES 55 is a well built very solid CO2 BB shooter and has excellent velocity and respectable accuracy from its rifled barrel. I found the gloss black finish to be very good on the ES 55. That combined with the rubberized grips makes this BB pistol a very attractive air gun. The EKOL ES 55 isn't the least expensive BB pistol on the block but it won't break the bank either and at the end of the day you get really good value for a gun you will hopefully own a lifetime.

In the mix of Blank shooters came this EKOL ES 55 4.5mm BB gun, I'm going to have to shoot a few rounds through this arigun before I can really comment on it. Still a very nice looking all metal BB shooter with a full size drop out 16 round magazine.

If your a James Bond fan, you will recognize the design of this gun, it's a replica of the Walther PPK compact semi auto, Bond's favorite sidearm in many of the 007 movies. This particular version uses 9mm P.A.K blanks and holds 7 rounds in the magazine. I already have a few PPK styled blank guns so I'm not sure if this one is staying with me...

Now we are getting into the light weight blank guns, and I thought my EKOL Volga was small! The EKOL Tuna is pretty similar to the EKOL Volga in looks and design but comes in just a bit smaller and hold 6 rounds of 8mm P.A.K. blanks in it's tinny single stack magazine. Even though this blank gun is so similar to my EKOL Volga, I may find it just a bit too hard to give up?

If you're looking for a small blank gun - look no further! The EKOL Arda is crazy small but even so feels solid in the hand, just make sure to hold on tight! The Arda hold 5 rounds of 8mm P.A.K. blank ammo in it's cylinder and uses a pre-cocked single action only hammer, just like back in the wild west.
