Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the KJWorks M9A1 TBC CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol is single and double action. When the hammer is back and it is in singe action, the trigger is short and light with about a quarter inch take-up before the release which is crisp and fairly light. You can decock the hammer and shoot in double action which does make the trigger pull much longer and a bit heavier but it is still very usable. There is also a semi cock-option where the hammer is partially cocked. This keeps the hammer off the firing pin and allows for a safer double action trigger pull.
Accuracy: So far I have not shot the KJWorks M9A1 TBC CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol or made my Field Test Shooting Video. I have shot lots of KJWorks Full Blowback Airsoft Pistols in the past and they have in general performed as expected. So I am confident when I get to the Field Test Shooting Video for the KJWorks M9A1 TBC CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol, it should perform well for me!
Build Quality: The KJWorks line of Airsoft Guns are known for their excellent build quality, the KJWorks M9A1 TBC CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol is another example of a well made Airsoft Pistol with lots of metal parts including the slide, frame, inner and outer barrel, magazine, trigger, safety, slide catch release, take down lever and magazine release. The only real plastic I can see is the grips, butt plate, and CO2 gas nozzle. Fit and finish is really good. There is just a little bit of slide wiggle, but all the mechanical parts work well.
Realism: Most Full Blowback Airsoft Pistols are built to be as close to a real steel pistol as possible with similar dimensions, weight and feel. The blowback action gives a Blowback Airsoft Pistol the required slide action to allow for chambering of an Airsoft BB along with the reseting of the hammer, so true single action shooting is possible. Other than shooting a real steel Beretta M9A1, the KJWorks M9A1 TBC CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol is as close as you can get to it. Holding this pistol in your hand, it would be hard to tell it is not the real deal.

The Beretta M9 is a classic Semi Auto Pistol that has been used in military and police for decades and has proven itself over time. I would say it is right up there with the classic 1911 as being recognized as a dependable and solid semi auto pistol. I still kind of prefer the 1911 but I’d take a Beretta M9A1 any day of the week. You really can’t go too wrong with the KJWorks M9A1 TBC CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol, it has it all… Almost all metal build, full blowback operation with both single and double action shooting options. You have a picatinny rail for adding accessories and easy to see white dot sights front and back. This is probably one of my favorite Beretta M9’s in terms of looks and features.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the KJWorks KP-19 CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol is excellent, it is super short and light as you would expect from a 1911 trigger, the makeup is almost non-existent with a super light release. Out of the box I find it perfect but you have the option of adjusting it with the supplied Allen key since it has competition adjustably. Like I said, out of the box it felt perfect to me so there is no real need to mess around with it.
Accuracy: At this point I have not shot the KJWorks KP-19 CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol or made my Field Test Performance Video. I have shot my fair share of KJWorks Full Blowback Airsoft Pistols and they have in general performed very well for me, so I am confident when I get to the Field Test Shooting Video for the KJWorks KP-19 CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol it will do a great job!
Build Quality: The KJWorks line of Airsoft Guns is known for their excellent build and overall quality and the KJWorks KP-19 CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol is no exception. You will find all metal for the most part including some CNC Aluminum parts like the barrel and compensator, the slide and frame are metal along with the magazine and most of the controls. The pistol grip and trigger guard is all in one and the main plastic you will find on the KJWorks KP-19 CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol. Weight, feel and balance is really good.
Realism: The KJWorks KP-19 CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol is a double stack modern tactical 1911 in design. All of the controls and the overall design are that of a 1911 and so if you are use to shooting 1911’s, then you will be accustomed to this Airsoft Pistol. The full length blowback simulates the shooting experience along with some recoil feel and also allows for that true single action only trigger we are use to with 1911’s with its short and super light trigger pull. The KJWorks KP-19 CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol is fully field strippable which allows for easy to get to hop-up adjustments. I did notice that the Back-strap safety is non-functioning and just there for show, I am not sure why they did not make it a working safety?

I’ve mentioned in many of my videos how I really like 1911 styled pistols and of course ones with full blowback operation, so the KJWorks KP-19 CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol for me is a winner even before I even try it. Of course how it performs is going to be the real deciding factor, even if I am rooting for it. What is not to like though? It is almost all metal, has full blowback operation, easy to see fiver optic sights front and back, the ability to add a laser or tac light up front with a red dot on the back by installing the adaptor plate so you can really dress this one up and make it your own at the end of the day.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the KJWorks KP-13 TBC CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol is what you would expect from a true Single Action Only Trigger, which is nice and light and relatively short. There is some initial take up but you can feel the point near the back where the release kicks in which is extremely light and predictable with no play in it. Of course you will have to rack the slide in order to place a round in the breach and fire the first shot, after that the blowback action will do all the slide cycling for you.
Accuracy: At this point I have not shot the KJWorks KP-13 TBC CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol or made my Field Test Performance Video. I have already made a full Field Test and Shooting Video of the non-TBC version which is virtually the same Airsoft Pistol but without the threaded outer barrel extension. You can watch that Filed Test Video here where I get around 350 average fps and close to a 2 inch grouping shooting at a paper target setup 30 feet down range. Build Quality: The KJWorks line of Airsoft Guns is know for overall good quality so I expect the KJWorks KP-13 TBC CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol to be just the same. From my testing with the non TBC version and my initial first impressions, everything looks really good, fit and finish are excellent and as expected you will find metal parts and polymer parts in all the same places you would find them in a real steel modern semi auto pistol.
Realism: The KJWorks KP-13 TBC CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol is not an exact replica of a specific semi auto pistol but you could say it looks a little bit like a Glock ;) You need to be careful when it comes to Glock as they do not like it when companies copy their guns and rightly so. There is enough differences with the KJ Works KP-13 TBC CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol so it should not set off any red flags over at Glock. It’s good that there are various color options, tan, grey and black. It does seem that only the Tan and Grey two tone versions are available in the TBC version while the black version we seem to have available in the all black non-TBC version.

Let’s be clear, the KJWorks KP-13 TBC CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol is not a Glock Replica. It is different in many ways, the idea here is that it is close enough to be a good alternative if you are use to shooting Glocks and want something to train with that looks, feels and functions a lot like a traditional Glock. I am hoping the TBC version performs as well as the non-TBC version shot for me when I made my original Field Test Shooting Video back in 2023. For me the KJWorks KP-13 TBC CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol checks all the boxes… Full blowback operation, a very good trigger, lots of realism and I am sure good performance based on my past review.

Trigger Pull: The Single Action Only trigger pull on the Novritsch SSQ22 GBB Airsoft Rifle is a lot like what you would find on a real steel Ruger 10/22. It is short and light in action making it light and quick enough for action shooting or sniping with accuracy from long range. You will have to work the bolt to load an Airsoft BB in to the breach and ready the single action trigger for the first shot, but then the blowback action will do that for you for the rest of the shots.
Accuracy: I have not shot the Novritsch SSQ22 GBB Airsoft Rifle or tested it out so far, so I don’t really have much to say in terms of accuracy or if it is close to the claimed 400+ fps, but I will be making a full dedicated Field Test Shooting Video for it a bit down the road when I get caught up with my Field Test Shooting Videos. So until then we will have to wait and see,
Build Quality: Novritsch is a new product line for me so I have not had much hands on with any of their guns so far. My first impressions are that they make very good quality Airsoft products using high quality materials with well thought out designs. The Novritsch SSQ22 GBB Airsoft Rifle is not super heavy even though it does incorporate a fair amount of metal components including CNC machined aluminum.
Realism: The Novritsch SSQ22 GBB Airsoft Rifle is not an exact copy or Replica of a Ruger 10/22 22LR Rifle but it does share a lot of its design and mechanical functions. Most people when they buy a base Ruger 10/22 generally do a lot of upgrading and modifications to them that ultimately make it look a lot more like the Novritsch SSQ22 GBB Airsoft Rifle at the end of the day. As it is Gas Blowback it functions very similar to the real steel version with working blowback action which does give a bit of recoil to it and allows for a very nice short and light single action trigger.
Pros:
Mostly all metal design.
Gas-efficient nozzle assembly, CNC machined Hop-Up chamber, and Maple Leaf 60° bucking with a large nub surface.

I am always a sucker for Gas Blowback Airguns in general and with Airsoft Rifles the vast majority tend to be AEG’s, so when I get the chance to review a GBB Airsoft rifle, I am always a bit excited to do so. The Novritsch SSQ22 GBB Airsoft Rifle has a lot going for it, there are lots of metal parts where you want them to be, a great single action trigger, mounting options for a red dot or optical sight along with M-LOK on the sides and bottom for whatever accessories you plan to add to it. It’s nice that it starts out pretty light as the addition of a scope, perhaps a foregrip, maybe a taclight and or laser will bring up the weight. I most certainly am looking forward to the Field Test Shooting Video so I can see how this one performs.
In this Field Test Shooting Video for the KJWorks MK1 Carbine Green Gas Airsoft Rifle, I checkout the velocity and power here in the Replica Airguns Indoor Airgun Shooting Range, to find out if the real world velocity is in the ballpark of the claimed 450+ fps velocity by KJWorks. I also shoot 10 rounds into a paper target from a distance of 30 feet to see how accurate of a grouping I can get. Starting first with my velocity test, I loaded up the magazine with propane gas along with a full magazine of .20 gram Airsoft BB’s. The temperature was around 20 degrees Celsius or 68 degrees Fahrenheit, so not super warm or cold, in warmer conditions I would expect slightly higher fps from the KJWorks MK1 Carbine Green Gas Airsoft Rifle. KJWorks claims 450+ fps and my testing came pretty close to this with my five Chronograph readings hitting: 468, 451, 435, 436, 426 fps. Averaging 443 fps.
Next I made sure I still had 10 Airsoft rounds in the magazine and placed a fresh paper target 30 feet down range and shot all 10 rounds into the target using a semi rested shooting position, with my hands on a sand bag up front and sitting on a stool in the back. This allows me fairly stable shooting with less human factor. I did have to aim a few inches low on the center of the target as the KJWorks MK1 Carbine Green Gas Airsoft Rifle does shoot a bit high at 30 feet. 7 out of the 10 rounds hit all within about 2 inches of each other and then three rounds came out of the group increasing the 10 shot grouping from 2 inches to around 5 inches. I am wondering if perhaps I had some miss-formed Airsoft BB’s in the bunch as the shots that came out, really did come out a lot compared to the tighter 2 inch 7 shot main grouping.
Overall the KJWorks MK1 Carbine Green Gas Airsoft Rifle performed well, the velocity was right on the mark and was fairly consistent dropping off a bit as the Rifle cooled down from the gas. Accuracy was very good side to side but up and down I did notice more variation. The trigger is a double action only trigger so it is a bit longer and heavier than a real steel Ruger MK1 that is known for its beautiful short and light Single Action Trigger. Still the KJWorks MK1 Carbine Green Gas Airsoft Rifle performed well and I think with some good quality Airsoft BB’s, perhaps even a bit heavier than I used in this test, one could improve the accuracy at range and really be able to use this for some longer range outdoor Airsoft games. As it is a fairly light and short Rifle it would make for a super easy to pack around sniper rifle option.
In this months Replica Airguns Mystery Unboxing Preview Video, I take a look at 4 new items that showed up at my door. Two Airsoft Rifles, one being AEG and the other one a GBB. I also received two accessories for the GEM Alias super tiny multi ammo CO2 Pistol, A .50 caliber Paintball Barrel for it and and a 12 gram CO2 Adapter.
Both Airsoft Rifles are new to me from a company called Novritsch which is a higher end brand so the pricing is not cheap for either Airsoft Rifle. It was nice to get an AEG and GBB to review, the Novritsch SSR77 AEG Airsoft Rifle is a Replica of the Steyr AUG while the Novritsch SSQ22 GBB Airsoft Rifle is essentially a custom modded Ruger 10/22 copy, at least from what I can tell, it is solid and really well built.
I have already made a Table Top Video for the GEM Alias CO2 Pistol but I have been waiting for the .50 Caliber Paintball Barrel to show up so I can test out all 4 barrel ammo options. I also really wanted the 12 gram CO2 Adapter so I don’t have to use the small 8 gram CO2’s which are harder to find and not as cost effective as the 12 gram CO2. So now I am totally ready to make the GEM Field Test Shooting Review.
It’s been a while since I made a Field Test Shooting Video, probably well before I went to SHOT Show. I have been working on my SHOT Show 2025 Videos but those Interview Videos are all done and now it’s time to get caught up on some Field Test Shooting Video I have been wanting to make. So today I was able to make my Field Test Review Video for the Umarex DSX 45 Spring BB Pistol and for some this is a pretty entry level BB Pistol many might overlook but if you are simply looking for a 1911 based BB Pistol that is super inexpensive to buy, and cheap to shoot, and you don’t need quick semi auto shooting. Then the Umarex DSX 45 Spring BB Pistol Field Test Review could be an option for you. In this video I test out both the velocity and accuracy and I guess to some degree the usability so lets get started with the Velocity or fps portion of the testing. I loaded up the Umarex DSX 45 Spring BB Pistol with a half full hopper of 4.5 mm Steel BB’s, so around 100 BB’s which is way more than I needed and I shot 5 rounds through my Chronograph hitting the following fps: 191, 193, 188, 195, 197 which averaged 193 fps. Umarex claims a velocity of up to 240 fps which I think is a bit high as temperature is not even a factor with a spring piston Airgun, so warmer conditions will not really make much of a difference here.
I then placed a brand new paper target on my backstop 30 feet down range and proceeded to shoot 10 rounds into it using a semi rested shooting position. Hands rested on a sand bag up front and sitting on a stool in the back. This generally gives me pretty good stability while performing these tests, but there is always some human factor to take into consideration. I was not all that impressed with the grouping I got, the Umarex DSX 45 Spring BB Pistol likes to fling BB’s around a bit. You an see them curl so maybe some miscellaneous spin is being added in the barrel but it is not a consistent spin so the BB’s kind of spray all over the target that ended up giving me around a 8 inch grouping. Usually I can get around a 2 inch grouping with a BB Pistol that is generally what I would consider to be good accuracy.
I wish the Umarex DSX 45 Spring BB Pistol Field had hit closer to the 240 claimed fps and was also a bit more accurate as it would then be more usable at the 30 foot range I tested it at. I would suggest if you buy or own this BB Pistol, that you shoot it at targets closer in at 10-20 feet as the poor velocity and accuracy would be a lot less noticeable at these ranges and for that purpose it would be just fine. If you want a super low cost BB Pistol option that is also a decent looking 1911 Replica, and that you don’t need to go out and buy any CO2 to use it. Then take a look at one in our Replica Airguns Online Store. Heck, it’s only $19 US and $29 CAN right now!
Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the BUG-A-SALT 3.0 Salt Gun is a Single Action Only trigger that requires you to work the pump action to load salt and prepare the hammer to fire in Single Action. There is a little bit of takeup and then a medium trigger pull weight that is about right for a pest control tool like this, as you do not want a super light trigger that could go off unintentionally. When you work the action using the pump, the real sight also pops up not only so you can use it but also to indicate that the BUG-A-SALT 3.0 Salt Gun is loaded and ready to fire.
Accuracy: So far I have not fired or tested out the BUG-A-SALT 3.0 Salt Gun as it is not the time of year for bugs just yet, so that portion of my review is going to have to wait until at least spring time when the bugs and flies come out in full force. I will not be making my traditional Field Test Shooting Video where I shoot at a Paper target setup 30 feet away, or even testing out the velocity in fps as the BUG-A-SALT 3.0 Salt Gun is only rated to shoot up to 3 feet away and I’m not sure how a blast of salt would even be read by a Chronograph or if that information is even important for a fly exterminator like this. I will be making some sort of shooting video for the BUG-A-SALT 3.0 Salt Gun when I am able to find bugs to blast…
Build Quality: The BUG-A-SALT 3.0 Salt Gun is made out of mostly plastic with I assume some metal working parts internally. Even the internal barrel is plastic since you are only shooting salt. The BUG-A-SALT 3.0 Salt Gun does feel solid and the working parts like the pump action, trigger and safety feel durable enough. The salt hopper lid may be a bit flimsy and if that breaks I’m not sure how one would keep the salt in the hopper?
Realism: The BUG-A-SALT 3.0 Salt Gun is not a replica gun to speak of, it kind of looks like a pistol grip pump action shotgun but there is really no way I feel anyone would mistake the BUG-A-SALT 3.0 Salt Gun for a real gun, this is probably good since you may want to keep it out lying around in your house for when you may need to do some bug blasting.
Pros:
Very unique product, not a lot of competition in the market.
Makes eliminating flies and bugs a lot more fun, would be fun at get togethers or parties.
Fairly well built, feels solid and durable.
Low cost to operate, only requires table salt.
Can get up to 80 shots per loaded salt hopper.
Can shoot flies up to 3 feet away.
Easy to access cross bolt safety.
Auto pop-up rear sight lets you know it is loaded and ready to fire.
SAO Trigger is relatively decent.
No bug guts mess to cleanup.
Cons:
Not suitable for larger bugs with hard exoskeletons like wasps or larger. Really only meant for flies.
Not a toy as it could be assumed it is. So be careful around kids as an eye shot could be very painful and cause injury.
Price is a lot more than a fly swatter that also gets the job done.
Comments:
If you hate flies as much as I do and would like a more sportsman like way to eliminate them rather than your standard fly swatter that basically mushes the fly into a bloody mess on what ever surface you mash it into. Then perhaps something like the BUG-A-SALT 3.0 Salt Gun may be just perfect for you. I am hoping it works as good as the advertising says it does. Based on some of the reviews I have watched it seems ideal for flies but may not so good for larger insects with hard exoskeletons. You are going to pay a lot more for the BUG-A-SALT 3.0 Salt Gun than a dollar store fly swatter will cost you, but I can guarantee you will have a lot more fun using it and no need for the messy bug juice clean up after a kill shot.
This will be my final Interview Video for SHOT Show 2025. I did get to talk with someone from Crosman but the Daisy rep was not around totally with so I did my best to talk about a couple of the Daisy products that I felt were interesting. If you are not aware, Crosman and Daisy have now joined forces together along with Gamo, Benjamin and SPLATRBALL so all of these product were on display at the Crosman Daisy Booth. I focussed on the Crosman M1 Full Auto Carbine and their updated all black ST1 Full Auto BB Rifle. We then took a look at some of the Game Face Airsoft Products and then I performed my own Interview/Review for Daisy talking about the Woodland Trail Model 1911 and Model 25 Lever and Pump Action BB Rifles.
I had the pleasure of interviewing Mark from Umarex again at SHOT Show 2025 and Mark went over some of the new products from Umarex coming out this year. Make started of by showing me two new MOS (Modular Optic System) Gen 5 Glocks in a Glock 17 and Glock 19 versions. Both come with Umarex based red dot sights but you can change them up for something different if you choose to down the road. We then took a look at the new Umarex AER16 AR AEG Rifle in 4.5mm Steel BB rather than 6mm Airsoft similar to the Barra e400 that came out last year. In a nutshell it is a battery/spring operated 4.5mm Steel BB Full Auto AR Replica. Mark then showed us some A&L AK based AEG Airsoft Rifles they are now distributing that feature Full steel body construction with high-quality real laminated wood handguard and skeletal folding stocks. These are one to one in terms of size and weight adn very detailed. We then finished up the interview taking a look at the Legends Saddle Lever Action Shell Loading Rifle and the Umarex Smith & Wesson Competitor Shell Loading revolver.
Luckily I was able to find some time with James again this year and James gave us all the new details on some of the KWA updated and new products. Starting with the KWA ATP-Z Blowback Airsoft Training Pistol added recently to the KWA lineup, James also showed us a few versatile Carbine Pistol Kits made specifically for the ATP-Z and ATP-GT Pistols. Not yet fully released, James went over their updated TAC-9 hopefully coming out this year. We then got a nice tour of the updated Radian Model 1 AEG Airsoft Rifle with built in recoil system also built into KWA’s Q10 AEG Airsoft Rifle.
It was nice to run into ASG (Action Sports Games) right away and talk with Bob for ASG. Bob always has a great understanding of the ASG product line and each year I Interview him and find out all the news and updated product in the ASG lineup. This year Bob’s goes over the new ASG CZ P-10 C CO2 Blowback BB Pistol, the Action Army C1 Pro Bolt Action CO2 Airsoft Rifle, ASG’s new Frag Impact Sound Grenades, along with some new additions to the Shadow 2 Series of Airsoft Pistols. Was a great start to this years SHOT Show 2025!

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the KJWorks MK1 Carbine Green Gas Airsoft Rifle is double action only which will make it a bit longer and heavier than the real steal Ruger MK1 as it is Single Action Only. The trigger is smooth however and does have a nice satisfying click to it that sounds like a firing pin being release. The unfortunate part is that the real steel version has an amazing single action only trigger so the contrast between the Airsoft and 22LR version may make this gun not as practical is an optional training tool if you own the 22LR version.
Accuracy: This part of the review is yet to be determined as I have not done my Field Test or Shooting Test for this carbine, so stay posted for my official Field Shooting Test. For now you can watch my Ruger MK I Gas version Field Test Shooting Review to get an idea on how the KJWorks MK1 Carbine Green Gas Airsoft Rifle version should perform, as they are very similar with the Carbine version having a longer barrel and shoulder stock added to it with should increase the velocity and perhaps the accuracy a bit.
Build Quality: KJWorks as usual distributes quality Airguns, the fit and finish on the KJWorks MK1 Carbine Green Gas Airsoft Rifle is very good and there is good use of metal where it needs to be like with the upper receiver, the inner and outer barrel, the bolt and other internal mechanical parts, the trigger, the safety, the rear fully adjustable sight and the full size drop out metal magazine that holds the Gas and the Airsoft BB's.
Realism: The KJWorks MK1 Carbine Green Gas Airsoft Rifle is based on real steel Ruger MK1 and looks very close to it for the most part. There is no blowback operation or bolt operation so that means that only a double action trigger is possible, this is a bit unfortunate since the real Ruger MK1 has an absolutely beautiful smooth and light single action trigger. On the positive side you can field strip the KJWorks MK1 Carbine Green Gas Airsoft Rifle just like the real version but you will need to remove the rear stock that covers the area you need to get to to field strip it.
Pros:
If you own a real Ruger 22LR you will be use to the design layout.
Adjustable rear sight for windage and elevation.
Metal hop-up for backspin tuning.
Full size all metal drop out magazine that holds the Airsoft BB’s and gas.
Satisfying trigger sound, sounds like a real firing pin a bit, not clanky like many other Airguns.
Full Metal upper and barrel.
Metal rear sight, bolt, trigger and magazine.
Non blowback helps with velocity and gas efficiency.
Field strips like original MK Series (will need to remover rear stock).
Cons:
No blowback so longer DAO trigger not like the real steel Ruger MK 1.

Comments:
The KJWorks MK1 Carbine Green Gas Airsoft Rifle is really just a modified MK1 Pistol by adding a longer barrel and rear shoulder stock to the pistol grip. I guess it is a good use of an already popular pistol design to give us a light weight and somewhat compact Airsoft sniper rifle for Airsoft games as it does have a fairly high velocity claim. Because of the high 450+ fps I would not recommend it to anyone playing in close quarters as it could injure other players so keep that in mind. If you are looking for a lower cost and fairly compact Sniper Rifle for some outdoor shooting, then it might be just the right pick for that. I am hoping my upcoming Field Test Shooting Video showcases it nicely so keep checking back for that Review Video down the road a bit.
Trigger Pull: The single action only trigger pull on the Umarex DSX 45 Spring BB Pistol is actually pretty decent. I would say it has a short to medium length with only a little bit of light take up and then an easy release that has no additional friction. You will have to cock the slide back for each shot which also cocks the hammer back allowing for a true single action trigger. The trigger its self is not like a traditional 1911 trigger in terms of looks but it does work well.
Accuracy: I have briefly shot the Umarex DSX 45 Spring BB Pistol so I could make some initial comments about its performance as it is a very new product to me. I will be making a full Field Test Shooting Video down the road but for now I can say it performed a lot better than I was expecting. The claimed 240 fps seems believable to me as shots at 20 feet hit the target with very little delay and even at 30 feet the delay was acceptable. In terms of accuracy, out of the box, for the most part hit the target at both 20 adn 30 feet very close to where I was aiming which is what you are hopping for.
Build Quality: Build quality for the Umarex DSX 45 Spring BB Pistol is also better than I would expect from a $29 Canadian almost all plastic BB Pistol. Everything felt nice and tight and fit and finish was good in general. There is even some metal where they could have gone with cheaper plastic, for example it has a metal trigger and slide catch release that is actually the safety. Of course the barrel and some other internal parts are going to be metal along with screws and such.
Realism: The Umarex DSX 45 Spring BB Pistol is a fairly believable replica of a more modern 1911 45 caliber semi auto pistol. Other than it being mostly plastic and much lower in weight, at around 1.25 pounds, the Umarex DSX 45 Spring BB Pistol does look the part with a working slide (for cocking the spring), a full size drop out magazines, a recessed barrel and a lot of detail in the finishing of it. I find it to be a little bit wider than a real 1911 would be in the grips and even the main frame and slide by just a bit.
Pros:
Super low coast to buy and shoot, no CO2 required, just need 4.5mm Steel BB’s and away you go.
Shoots pretty good, BB’s got to the target a lot faster than I was expecting them to and they shot where I was aiming in general.
Decent looking Replica of a modern 1911 Semi Auto Pistol.
Has a picatinny rail for adding accessories if you want to.
Single Action Trigger is pretty decent, a bit of take up but medium light weight to it.
Has a close to full size magazine that looks the part.
Magazine has a 200 round hopper capacity with 13 rounds being loaded into the feeder at a time.
Safety is worked into the slide catch release which adds to the realism in terms of looks.

Almost all plastic other than some internal metal parts like the barrel and spring and some other stuff I am sure.

Comments:
The Umarex DSX 45 Spring BB Pistol is a super inexpensive BB Pistol but don’t let that stop you from considering it to add to your collection. It has a lot going for it in my opinion. First off the price is super low to buy and to shoot, you only need a bunch of BB’s and you can shoot all day for a couple of bucks. It looks pretty believable as a 1911 Replica. The build quality and detail is a lot better than you should get for only $30 dollars here in Canada and when I quickly tried it out, it actually shot pretty hard for a spring BB Pistol and it seemed to hit the target right where I aimed even at 30 feet away. It even has a full size magazine that holds 200 rounds with a quick load 13 round spring feeding system to keep the fun going. Kind of a no brainer if you’re looking for a cheap and fun time.
This video was made right at the end of December 2024 but I am posting it in the new year so we will call it a late December video… That makes two Mystery Box Videos for December 2024 which means a lot of new products on my plate to review this new year. To start things off with my Field Test Shooting Video of the Umarex Marlin Lever Action Spring BB Rifle, I shoot 5 rounds through my Chronograph to see what the real world velocity is in fps. Umarex claims around 300 fps. I was able to average right around 274 fps so not far off of the claim. My lowest performing shot was 270 fps with the fastest shot hitting 278 fps, so all very close in velocity which is typical of a spring piston Airgun, this will help with consistent accuracy especially in terms of elevation.
When it comes to the accuracy, the Umarex Marlin Lever Action Spring BB Rifle did as well or perhaps even better than my other testing using previous Red Ryder type Air Rifles. If I through out one flyer I got, my 10 shot grouping was able to get around a 2 inch grouping that was overall well centered on the target, maybe juts a hair to the right. Even with the flyer the grouping spread out to a 3 inch grouping. I am pretty sure I could do better as this was the first time shooting this rifle. Keep in mind as I have to work the lever action for each shot that requires me to hold the rifle straight up and down in order for proper BB loading, this means I need to fully reset my hands on the sand bag and re-aim for each shot which will effect accuracy consistency a bit. Still a good result.
All in all I do really like the Umarex Marlin Lever Action Spring BB Rifle, mainly as it has a longer shoulder pull more suitable for adults. I feel adults get left out a bit in terms of target marketing with the standard Red Ryder which is a very compact BB Rifle with a short shoulder pull more suited for kids and youth shooters. This makes the Umarex Marlin Lever Action Spring BB Rifle more comfortable to shoot as an adult but will still work for youth and kids as is is not too large in size or heavy or even very hard to work the lever action. Now the whole family can really take part in the fun experience of shooting a Red Ryder type BB Rifle!

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on Umarex Marlin Cowboy Lever Action BB Rifle is just about right for a rifle like this at 5 pounds with a medium to short pull length. I would say it is perfect for just about all shooter including novice shooters as it is not overly light, so as not to go off by accident and not too heavy so as to affect your accuracy. The Umarex Marlin Cowboy Lever Action BB Rifle trigger is considered a single action only trigger as it is only active after each cycle of the lever action which also is required to chamber a BB round.
Accuracy: My dedicated field test shooting video will be coming up over the next couple of weeks. So for now I have no idea what to expect in terms of velocity and accuracy from the Umarex Marlin Cowboy Lever Action BB Rifle, other than the claimed 300 fps which is what you can expect from the similar Red Ryder BB Rifle. Accuracy in general for a BB Rifle like this can be hit or miss. From past shooting experiences testing out the Red Ryder and first version of the Crosman Marlin Cowboy BB Rifle, they both shot decent from about 30 feet away, but I would have to say the Red Ryder did perform more consistently getting a tighter grouping than the Crosman Marlin Cowboy. Hopefully this Umarex newer version performs up to par.
Build Quality: The Umarex Marlin Cowboy Lever Action BB Rifle has overall good build quality with a metal barrel, receiver, rear sight and lever. The stock is plastic along with the front sight and the trigger but it does look and feel well made with all the mechanical parts feeling solid and tight. It does feel much heavier in the hand than the claimed 2.59 pounds. I would have preferred a metal trigger, not sure why Umarex went with a plastic trigger?
Realism: The Umarex Marlin Cowboy Lever Action BB Rifle is essentially styled after the Old West Lever Action Cowboy Rifle, and it has everything one would expect other than loading shells which is available in other CO2 poweredLever Action Air Rifles if you don’t mind paying a premium for one of them. The lever does not work the cycling of the bolt but rather it pre-cooks the internal spring that provides the air pressure and power. The lever does load a single 4.5mm Steel BB with each crank of the action. I do like that the Umarex Marlin Cowboy Lever Action BB Rifle has a full shoulder pull stock more suitable for larger shooters which does all add to the realism rather than having a super short rear stock.
Pros:
Easy to pump.
Fit and finish looks good for an inexpensive Airguns, seems very well made.
In terms of realism it does look like a classic old west lever action rifle for the most part.
Holds 650 BB’s in the hopper for quicker follow up shooting and virtually unlimited ammo.
Official Marlin licensing and branding via Umarex.
Rear peep sight is metal and is also adjustable for elevation.
Trigger pull is pretty decent, not too light but is medium-short and about 5 pounds.
Metal lever feels a lot better than as plastic one and will be more durable.
Shoulder pull length is much longer than a standard kids type Red Ryder BB Rifle.
Plastic stock has nice texturing that helps with grip and looks.

Overall Power is lower than other CO2 BB and Pellet Rifles but still is adequate for it’s intended purpose.

Comments:
The Umarex Marlin Cowboy Lever Action BB Rifle in my opinion is really built for adult shooters that want to join in on the fun with perhaps their kids or other youth shooters shooting something like a Red Ryder. The longer shoulder pull feels a lot more natural for larger shooters and I do feel like the Umarex Marlin Cowboy Lever Action BB Rifle just feels a bit more like a full size Lever Action Rifle. Performance wise, I dolt think we are going to see anything much different than what we are already getting from a standard Red Ryder or first generation Marlin Cowboy BB Rifle. That’s really OK since this type of rifle is made for good old fun, blasting pop cans and plastic army men with a friend. And with some time shooting one you can get pretty accurate with one of these BB rifles too.
In this Field Test Shooting Video conducted in the Replica Airguns Sea Can indoor Shooting Range, I test the Umarex Markpoint Break Barrel .177 Cal Pellet Pistol’s power in velocity using my Chronograph along with the accuracy shooting at a Paper Target setup 30 feet away. When I placed 6 pellets from the Umarex Markpoint Break Barrel .177 Cal Pellet Pistol through my Chronograph, I removed the fastest and slowest recorded shots, and got an average of 290 fps, there was a fairly big range in fps as some dieseling may have been occurring, since this Pellet Pistol had not been shot before and there may have been some oils in the barrel. Here are my recored velocities for all 6 shots: 213, 286, 308, 270, 304, 298. I was using lead flathead pellets that weighed 8.2 grain each. So you will for sure get much higher velocities using 5 grain alloy pellets, probably very close to the 400 claimed fps.
Moving on to my accuracy test, the Umarex Markpoint Break Barrel .177 Cal Pellet Pistol did pretty good. I was not sure how it would shoot for me as the trigger is pretty firm, which can cause the shooter to pull a shot or two. I was able to keep my shots pretty consistent with perhaps one shot getting a bit away from me. That said, out of the 10 shots I placed on the paper target setup 30 feet down range, I managed to get 9 of them all within about 2 inches of each other with the larger spread being elevation, windage was within about 3/4 of an inch, so consistent velocity may have played a roll here. I did use a semi rested shooting position with my hands resting on a sand bag up front, and sitting on a stool in the back to help stabile me as much as possible. I was happy that out of the box the aim point was pretty well centered just a bit to the right if anything.
All in all the Umarex Markpoint Break Barrel .177 Cal Pellet Pistol performed as much as I could have expected for a $50 Canadian low cost pellet shooter. I really wish an add on sight of some sort was possible, as there does not seem to be anyway of adjusting the sights on the Umarex Markpoint Break Barrel .177 Cal Pellet Pistol, so hopefully yours shoots well centered for you also. I do not recommend this Air Pistol for people with smaller hands as it is a bulky Airgun with very wide and large grips. The trigger also does take a bit of finger strength so not a gun for younger shooters perhaps. For the price it is a very unique Pellet Pistol with a very modern and futuristic look to it which may or may not appeal to everyone.

Total Length: 17 inches (43.2 cm). Power Source: Spring piston. Action: Break Barrel - Single Action Only. Ammo Type: .177 caliber pellets. Ammo Capacity: Single shot. FPS: 395 with alloy pellets, 300 with lead pellets.
Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on Umarex Markpoint Break Barrel .177 Cal Pellet Pistol is single action only and you will have to break the barrel and fully cock it to activate the trigger in order to shoot it. You will have to also insert a pellet for each shot when the barrel is in the open position. The trigger itself is a bit on the heavy side with a short takeup. It is not super heavy but I would not consider it light or even medium weight. There is a grip safety that needs to be pressed in at the back of the grip, or the trigger will not function. This is a nice additional safety feature.
Accuracy: So far I have not had the opportunity to test the Umarex Markpoint Break Barrel .177 Cal Pellet Pistol, but the plan is to get to my Field Test Shooting Video shortly and see how it performs in terms of power and accuracy. The Umarex Markpoint Break Barrel .177 Cal Pellet Pistol does have a nice long rifled steel barrel so it has the potential to be very accurate. My main concern is with the sights as they are none adjustable and if it is not well centered out of the box then the only way to adjust it will be by adjusting your aim point to correct any off center shots. There is also no way that I can see to mount a red to or scope of some sort. It looks like there is a rail system on the barrel but it is just cosmetic and there is no way to mount a picatinny accessory to it. I am not sure why Umarex simply did not make the rail a true picatinny rail?
Build Quality: For around a $50 Canadian pellet pistol that has the potential to be a pretty decent entry level target pistol, the Umarex Markpoint Break Barrel .177 Cal Pellet Pistol is pretty well made and feels very solid and mechanically tight. It is mostly plastic but does not feel cheap at all. It is a rather large pistol, especially the grips being fairly wide, so for people with small hands, it may be a bit hard to hold.
Realism: The Umarex Markpoint Break Barrel .177 Cal Pellet Pistol is not a copy or replica of any real steel pistol in production that I know of. To be honest Umarex was not trying that hard to make it look like a real steel pistol as it has it’s very own look to it that I would say is modern and kind of futuristic looking. It for sure has its own style to it, and you are either going to like it to not? I do like that Umarex added the ejection port and vented barrel which does add to the cool factor and makes it feel more like a real gun.
Pros:
Feels well built and solid.
Overall look is good, kind of futuristic if you like that sort of thing.
I like the red highlights, not typical on a real steel gun but looks good on this design.
Expect it to have good accuracy, hope the sights are on point?
Easy to cock spring piston system.
Sights are easy to line up .
Grip safety is a nice safety feature.
Fake ejection port is a nice touch, not something you would normally see on a target pistol like this.
Nice low price tag for some fun target shooting.
Cons:
Trigger is a bit heavy but in terms of length and break is OK.
Sights are not adjustable and no way to add a red dot or other sighting system.
Grip may be a bit wide for smaller handed shooters.
Comments:
For me I think the deciding factor on how I feel about the Umarex Markpoint Break Barrel .177 Cal Pellet Pistol is going to come down to how it performs as I have my reservations on how accurate it is going to be and if it shoots true out of the box. I really hope the sights are dialed in out of the box since there is no way to adjust them or add a red dot or other sighting system. The heavy trigger will take a bit of getting use to also but once adjusted to it I should be able to get some decent groupings. For the price, if it turns out to be a decent shooter and you like the look of it, then by all means it would make a great target plinker that you should be able to get proficient at shooting with. I will leave my final thoughts for the Field Test Shooting video on this one…
