I wasn’t sure if I was going to get my hands on one of the Umarex Glock 17 4th Gen GBB Airsoft Pistols since the velocity was a bit low for Canada import but somehow we managed to squeak some in to our Replica Airguns Canada Store and for me to get a review out for everyone!. In this video we see how well Umarex’s Gas Blowback Glock 17 Gen 4 performs in the Replica Airguns Indoor See Can Shooting Range. I test out the velocity and accuracy and also talk a little bit about how the gun performed overall for me. And yes I have already made a Table Top Review Video so if you want those closeup shots and specifications then watch that video too…
Starting off with my velocity power test using my Caldwell Ballistic Precision Chronograph and using .20 gram Airsoft BB’s with a full magazine of propane gas, I hit an average of 283 fps with the fastest shot getting 289 and the lowest shot hitting 279 so only a 10 fps difference. Shooting conditions where decent in the See Can, a lot warmer than outside but still not as warm as your typical summer day. The temperature was 15 Degrees Celsius (59 Degrees Fahrenheit). In warmer conditions I am sure I would have hit closer to 300 or even high fps with the Umarex Glock 17 4th Gen GBB Airsoft Pistol.
Next ump in the Field Test, I placed 10 shots into a paper target with my Umarex Glock 17 4th Gen GBB Airsoft Pistol from a distance of 30 feet down range using my standard seated and rested shooting position (Sand bag up front and sitting in the back). Shots did spread out a bit getting close to a 4 inch group but I think some of this had to do with the fact that I was still using the lighter weight .20 gram Airsfot BB’s. Heavier .30+ gram Airsfot BB’s may have produced a tighter grouping for me, even so 4 inches at 30 feet that where pretty well centered is for sure good enough for close quarter shooting which is what an Airsoft pistol is meant for.
The Umarex Glock 17 4th Gen GBB Airsoft Pistol feels a bit lighter than I was expecting but shoots well and has a nice blowback action. I had no misfires with consistent fps and a decent 10 shot grouping. I also found the single action only trigger to feel really good, nice short and light. I’m not sure if we will be able to continue to get the Airsoft version of the Umarex Glock 17 Gen 4 but we will try. We will have them in our US Replica Airguns Store since Importing them is not a factor in the US. If you are having trouble getting a Glock Airsoft gun in Canada then perhaps take a look at the BB version at least if you plan to use it for target practice anyway.
