Crosman M4-177 Pellet-BB Multi-pump Air Rifle Table Top & Shooting Review

Type: Pellet/BB Multi-pump Air Rifle.

Manufacturer:Crosman.

Model:M4-177.

Materials: Plastic with some metal.

Weight: 3.6 pounds.

Barrel: 16.75 inches, rifled.

Propulsion: Multi-pump.

Action: Single shot - bolt action with manual advance magazine.

Ammunition Type: .177 caliber pellets & 4.5mm steel BB's.

Ammunition Capacity: 5 shot pellet magazine - 18 shot BB internal BB magazine - 350 round BB hopper.

FPS: Up to 495 in Canada and 600 fps in the US.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the Crosman M4-177 is medium length and fairly light. The trigger mainly releases the bolt so no pre-cocking is required. It takes a bit to get used to where the release point since there are no real warning indicators. The trigger is plastic but seems to work just fine as there is no real load on the trigger when shooting.

Accuracy: I found the Crosman M4-177 Air Rifle to be a very good shooter, getting about a 3/4 inch grouping from 30 feet out in a semi rested position (sand bag up front, standing in the back). I also put 3 rounds through my Chrony Chronograph and the M4-177 averaged about 410 fps with the 10 pump maximum which is about what I would expect from the Canadian detuned version, keep in mind the US non-detuned version shoots up in the 600 fps range so it would have been nice if the Canadian version got closer to our legal non-registered limit of 500 fps.

Build Quality: The Crosman M4-177 Multi-pump Air Rifle is mostly plastic which some of my viewers will not like, but for a sub $100 Replica Air Rifle it hits the mark in terms of affordability and if it was an all metal airgun you would more than likely expect to double the price tag - if not more! Even though plastic is used throughout the Air Rifle, there are some internal metal parts where they need to be, the fit and finish is very good and I do not get the feeling that the Crosman M4-177 is cheaply made in any way.

Realism: The Crosman M4-177 is a respectable M4/AR replica. It is not exact in terms of true dimensions as the forward stock is a bit long to accommodate the pumping mechanism, (kind of long like the original AR but without the tapering). Crosman did a good job to add all the parts that you would find on a real M4/AR even if they are simply for show and are molded into the plastic. I particularly like the removable iron sights and full rail for mounting a scope or red dot sight. I am also really glad to see a Replica Assault rifle on the market as so few of them are available in pellet or steel BB shooters.

Available in the: Replica Airguns Store.

Pros:

  • One of the few replica Air Rifles on the market (MP5K PDW & Mini UZI).
  • Very well priced.
  • Excellent accuracy!
  • Comes with detachable and adjustable iron sights.
  • Fully adjustable stock.
  • Picatinny rail on top for just about any type of sight system.
  • Option of shooting pellets or BB's.

Cons:

  • Mostly plastic build.
  • Lower rails you just can not use as the pumping action gets in the way?
  • FPS is well below the Canada non PAL limit of 500 fps so maybe a bit too detuned?

Comments:

The Crosman M4-177 Multi-Pump Pellet/BB Air Rifle is in my opinion a must have air rifle, simply because... why not? How many replica pellet and steel BB shooting air rifles are there out there and for under $100 to boot? What the M4-177 lacks in metal parts, it makes up in accuracy and fun factor. And the M4-177 really is not a bad replica in terms of realism as Crosman made it a point to copy the real steel M4/AR fairly closely. I know for a fact from the emails I received and YouTube comments that many people have been looking for an M4/AR styled Air Rifle and Crosman has now delivered one to us so what are you waiting for ;)

Crosman M4-177 Pellet-BB Rifle & Old West M1873 Blank Revolver Update Video

It's always good to start the week off with an update video so everyone knows what's happening short-term and long-term...

I recently acquired a couple new items that I will be reviewing in the near future (along with several other reviews that I will be trying to get to ASAP!) First off is the Crosman M4-177 which is basically a multi-pump pellet and BB shooting replica of an AR or M4 styled carbine used by the US military. The Crosman M4-177 is mostly plastic on the outside but on first inspection seems to be built fairly well. It has removable metal sights and the magazine is also detachable but is not used as a magazine but rather a compartment for storage. The unit I have is the Canadian detuned version which shoots .177 caliber lead pellets and 4.5mm steel BB's at under 500 fps.

I don't currently sell the Crosman M4-177 in the Canada Replica Airguns Store but I do have it available for purchase in the US Replica Airguns Store for my US customers.

I also received my first old west blank shooting revolver (M1873), I have wanted one of these for a while and finally got my hands on one :) Unfortunately this one has a plugged barrel so it vents out of the cylinder area which may get a bit messy. I may see about making this one a front venting gun if possible and of course as long as it's within the law as I plan to make sure the cylinder stays semi plugged so no actual rounds could ever be shot out of it. The Old West M1873 Blank Revolver holds six .380 crimped blanks and is an all metal and wood construction. This should be a fun review!

I also touch upon a few other guns on the list of items I need to review and by the way in an attempt to get caught up I will be doing my Table Top and Shooting reviews combined.

Here are some of the guns that I will be reviewing over the next while...

King Arms Colt M4A1 Metal AEG Airsoft Rifle Field Test Review

Type: Airsoft.

Manufacturer:King Arms.

Model:Colt M4A1 Metal AEG.

Materials: Metal & Nylon.

Weight: 6 pounds.

Barrel: 15 inches, metal.

Propulsion: AEG

Action: Semi/full auto, single action.

Ammunition Type: 6mm Plastic BB (recommended .20 gram plus).

Ammunition Capacity: 300+ round magazine.

FPS: 450.

If you haven't already checked out my King Arms Colt M4A1 Table Top Review, make sure to do so for all the details and specifications on the King Arms Colt M4A1 Airsoft AEG Carbine.

This Field Test Review focusses primarily on how the AEG  M4A1 performs in feet per second velocity using .25 gram plastic Airsoft BB's, its accuracy in both semi and full auto and of course my comments on it's shoot-ability and overall performance.

For this field test review of my King Arms M4A1 Airsoft rifle I switched from the .20 gram Airsoft BB's to heavier .25 gram plastic BB's. I did this to have a comparison between the two weights since I had already Chronographed and accuracy tested the .20 gram BB's. As expected the fps dropped a bit, down to around 380 fps but still stayed very consistent for me as would be expected with an AEG styled rifle.

<!-- google_ad_client = "ca-pub-9036472715040282"; /* Replica Airguns Content */ google_ad_slot = "1487049688"; google_ad_width = 468; google_ad_height = 15; //-->

Another reason I wanted to test out the heavier .25 gram Airsoft BB's is because generally speaking, heavier BB's will shoot a bit more accurately as they are not as effected by the higher fps this guns is capable of shooing. The .20 gram BB's actually did well so I had high expectation for the .25 gram BB's and I was not disappointed! For this test I shot the King Arms Colt M4A1 from 30 feet out in a semi rested position (rested on a sand bag in the front and standing in the back). I shot 10 rounds in semi auto and got a very respectable 1.5 inch group which rivals any airgun in my collection! I also shot in full auto (I can't really tell you how many rounds ;) and the King Arms Colt M4A1 punched a nice 2 inch hole in the target. I would almost say it even beat out my other full auto 4.5mm steel BB shooting guns in terms of how tight of a group it can shoot while in full auto mode.

I am sure the Airsoft Hop-up system has something to do with the accuracy as the back-rotating BB's should keep a truer trajectory. One thing I notice while shooting this AEG styled Airsoft rifle, is that there is a slight delay from the time you pull the trigger till the shot is released. The trigger is actually activating a motor which in turn pulls the internal spring back, which then releases it once it hits the end of it's cycle. It's not a long delay but it is noticeable. In full auto it really does not matter at all :)

All in all I am again impressed with what an Airsoft gun can do in terms of both looks and performance.

King Arms Colt M4A1 Metal AEG Airsoft Rifle Table Top Review

Type: Airsoft.

Manufacturer:King Arms.

Model: Colt M4A1 Metal AEG.

Materials: Metal & Nylon.

Weight: 6 pounds.

Barrel: 15 inches, metal.

Propulsion: AEG

Action: Semi/full auto, single action.

Ammunition Type: 6mm Plastic BB (recommended .20 gram plus).

Ammunition Capacity: 300+ round magazine.

FPS: 450.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the King Arms Colt M4A1 is fairly short and light as it is essentially just an on off switch for the internal electronic components. You can shoot this gun very quickly in semi auto mode, and of course even quicker when full auto is selected.

Accuracy: Again, I tested this Airsoft rifle just like I do my other BB rifles and put 10 rounds into a target from 30 feet out using a semi rested position (sand bag in the front - standing in the rear). I used a non-magnified red dot scope for this test rather than using the built in iron sights. Like my initial WE SCAR test, when I walked up to the paper I was shocked at this Airsoft rifle shooting .20 gram plastic BB's. I again got a 2 inch 10 round grouping! I am beginning to think that a well tuned Airsoft gun can make for a pretty good target plinker!

Build Quality: The King Arms Colt M4A1 Metal AEG Carbine is very well made with a full Metal upper and lower receiver, along with metal parts exactly where they would be on the real steel version of the Colt M4. The only plastic or nylon components are the stocks and the grips and perhaps some internal parts. There is a bit of wiggle in the rear stock and metal magazine but this may be a Colt M4 attribute, for the most part the fit and finish was excellent!

Realism: As with many Airsoft guns, there is great attention to realism and the King Arms Colt M4A1 is no exception. It is an AEG and not a gas blowback Airsoft gun so it does lack some realism in terms of the hard hitting bolt action but on the other hand you can fire what seems like an endless stream of BB's in full auto with this AEG Colt M4A1 Replica. I do like the fact that the charging handle and forward assist works similarly to a real M4 and also the Dust cover cleverly exposes the internal hop-up for easy adjustment. The Colt licensing and branding throughout this M4A1 look-a-like help to really make this Airsoft rifle look believably like a real Colt M4 carbine.

Purchased From: The Replica Airguns Store.

Pros:

  • Amazing attention to detail with lots of working parts.

  • Full colt licensing and markings.

  • All Metal upper and lower receiver, lots of metal parts throughout.

  • Semi auto & full auto selectable.

  • High capacity 300+ round magazine.

  • Removable carry handle with Weaver/Picatinny rail underneath.

  • Nice high 400+ FPS.

  • Extremely accurate for plastic BB's.

  • Fully adjustable sights with two position Peep sights.

  • 6 position adjustable stock.

  • Easy access to internal hop-up system.

Cons:

  • Magazine and stock seems bit lose.

  • Canada version does not come with battery or charger.

  • Came with the orange flash hider, you may want to replace or paint it if legal in your area?

  • May be too powerful for inside skirmishes without some detuning.

Comments:

I was not fully sure if I would warm up to an AEG style of Airsoft rifle as I really enjoy the realism of a gas blowback type of replica gun. But the overall realism of the King Arms Colt M4A1 metal AEG really won me over and the added working components like the charging handle and forward assist along with the fully adjustable sights and 6 position stock just made it for me with this Airsoft Carbine. There is something to be said about an AR15 styled gun, they just look the part and this very realistic and usable M4 Airsoft replica is not just great to hold and look at but also performs very well which would make it deadly on the field! Now if only I could find some time to use it on the field ;)

King Arms Colt M4A1 - Swiss Arm GSR 1911 - Western Arms S&W Shorty 40 Preview

I already mentioned all three of these gun in my previous posts, two being Airsoft: the King Arms Colt M4A1 All Metal and my Western Arms Shorty .40. And one being a 4.5mm steel BB shooter, the Swiss Arms Sig Sauer GSR 1911. I wanted to make you a quick YouTube Preview video to show you around all three replica guns before I get around to actually doing my full reviews for each of them.

I will most likely start off with my King Arms Colt M4A1 All Metal Airsoft rifle, then review my Swiss Arms Sig Sauer GSR 1911 4.5mm BB pistol, then finish off with my deal Airsoft pistol, the Western Arms Shorty 40.

This preview video should give you a good idea about these guns, but make sure to stay tuned for my full review videos for each of them.

King Arms Colt M4A1 Metal AEG Airsoft Rifle

I have been very eagerly waiting for my King Arms Colt M4A1 to show up and it finally did. I have wanted an M16 - M4 for some time and to be honest I didn't really care if it was a 4.5mm steel BB shooter or 6mm plastic Airsoft gun. I just wanted it to look the part and hopefully perform well too.

Well I was definitely very happy with the King Arm Colt M4A1 All Metal Airsoft rifle. It looks amazing, has good weight, metal in all the places you would find metal on the real steel version, working bolt assist, working charging handle and both semi and full auto fire modes. My King Arms Colt M4A1 even has a removable carry handle.

And as for performance, it shot right on the money in both fps and accuracy, I don't want to give away too much since I will be doing a full review very soon but you will not be disappointed with this one!

Airsoft Guns Have Arrived - Well Sort of!

OK we are one step closer to having stock on some Airsoft guns. I have 4 new full-auto rifles for you to choose from in our Canada and US Replica Airguns Stores. In the US Replica Airguns Store they are in stock and ready to sell but we have to wait just a bit for them here in the Canada Replica Airguns Store so I am giving the Canadian version a bit of a pre-sale price reduction to give you some incentive!

The Canadian versions are all high velocity and shoot in the 450 fps range to allow us to sell them to you here in Canada in the "non-clear" solid metal and polymer versions since they will be classified as "non-regulated firearms" just like a regular airgun.

And yes I will be reviewing these Airsoft rifles for you, hopefully all of them :)

WE AWSS SCAR-L - 6mm Airsoft Rifle Field Test Review

If you have not already read my Table Top review for the WE SCAR-L, then make sure to check it out for specifications and an overall review of this very nice Blowback Airsoft rifle.

This Field Test review kind of baffled me, I was surprised with almost everything about it. Initially when I got my WE SCAR, I tested it out with one of my CO2 mags and got some pretty decent results not only in FPS performance but also in the accuracy department, I got around 400+fps and a nice 2 inch group from 30 feet out in a semi-rested position.

So when I headed out to record my Field Test, I was expecting some decent results! I'm not going to say this gun let me down but it did perform radically different for me on this day then the previous day and the only real difference is that I did a complete filed strip, clean and lube of the Airsoft rifle which in my opinion should of improved things but I guess not?

<!-- google_ad_client = "ca-pub-9036472715040282"; /* Replica Airguns Content */ google_ad_slot = "1487049688"; google_ad_width = 468; google_ad_height = 15; //-->

The most surprising realization I had was that with CO2 (as compared to the Propane), I did notice a heavier blowback and faster rate of fire in full auto but for some reason I had less velocity by almost 100fps when compared to using my Propane magazine? And my accuracy suffered also by an amazing amount. Some rounds had trouble even getting on the paper?

I will revisit this rifle in the summer, I think I will strip it down and wipe it down and perhaps redo this test entirely! I still love this Airsoft blowback rifle for so many reasons but on this day at least it came up a bit short for me.

WE AWSS SCAR-L - 6mm Airsoft Rifle Table Top Review

Make sure to also watch my Field Test Review for the WE SCAR-L!

Type: Airsoft.

Manufacturer:WE.

Model:AWSS SCAR-L Generation 3 Closed Bolt (Tan).

Materials: Metal & Polymer.

Weight: 6.9 pounds.

Barrel: 11.5 inches, metal.

Propulsion: Green-gas - propane - CO2

Action: Semi/full auto, single action.

Ammunition Type: 6mm Plastic BB.

Ammunition Capacity: 30 round magazine.

FPS: 450.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the WE SCAR is very short and light. You can shoot this gun very quickly, that is after you recover from the very heavy blowback action you can really feel in your shoulder.

Accuracy: I thought I would test this Airsoft rifle just like I do my other BB guns, why put it in a class by it's self? So I put about 10 rounds into a target from 30 feet out using a semi rested position (sand bag in the front - standing in the rear). I was using a non magnified red dot so there was going to be some variance on the target from that range no doubt. When I walked up to the paper I was rather stunned as this Airsoft rifle shooting .25 gram plastic BB's got a 2 inch 10 round grouping! This makes for an awesome plinker - Airsoft or not!

Build Quality: The WE AWSS SCAR is very well made with a full CNC Aluminum Upper, all steel internals and very high quality polymer lower receiver and folding stock. As far as I could tell all the external mechanical parts are also metal including the trigger, selector switch magazine release, bolt catch release, charging handle. all accessory rails and sights and anything else I missed! The Magazine is also metal.

Realism: One thing about most Airsoft guns is the attention to realism and in this area they generally have the edge over their 4.5mm Steel BB shooting brothers. This WE SCAR copy is 100% true in design and even field strips exactly like the real NATO round firing version. It even has the true marking indicating "MK 16MOD O and CAL. 5.56 MM." on the upper receiver. Like the real SCAR, everything functions the same including the semi auto and full auto selector switch :)

Purchased From: Private sale.

Pros:

  • Amazing attention to detail.

  • All CNC aluminium upper.

  • All metal internals and metal external mechanical parts.

  • Semi auto & full auto selectable.

  • Awesome blowback kick really hits you in the shoulder.

  • Field strips just like the real steal.

  • Nice high 400+ FPS even with .25 gram BB's

  • Extremely accurate for plastic BB's.

  • Full ambidextrous, even the charging handle can be switch side to side.

  • Can use propane or CO2 with the appropriate magazine.

<!-- google_ad_client = "ca-pub-9036472715040282"; /* Replica Airguns Content */ google_ad_slot = "1487049688"; google_ad_width = 468; google_ad_height = 15; //-->

Cons:

  • Not cheap to buy in Canada.

  • Eats CO2 pretty quickly.

  • Because of heavy blowback, you need to check wear and tear on the parts often.

  • May be too powerful for skirmishes without some detuning.

Comments:

This is really my first Airsoft review and for the most part my first real serious Airsoft gun. I do have a Crosman M50 (UZI copy) that I bought a while back and I will review it also but it was one of those Canadian see through guns that look like kids toys :( Getting back to the WE AWSS SCAR-L... I just love the design of this type of rifle, I even bought the almost exact same gun in a .22 rimefire - the ISSC MK22 SCAR, check that review out if you have are looking for  a .22LR gun. Again getting back to the WE AWSS SCAR-L!! It's got so much going for it. Quality, realism, performance, made by a reputable Airsoft company and as far as GBB Airsoft guns go it is well priced!

For those that like to skirmish or use these in Airsoft war games, they may want to go with the AEG (Automatic Electric Gun) version because they require less reloading and have more sustained FPS. But for me since I don't really do any Airsoft war games, well at least not yet? I kind of like the realism of the blowback with its kick and more realistic magazine capacities. Since I go after the most realistic guns I can get, this Airsoft rifle really speaks to me and just because it shoots a plastic BB rather then a metal BB, I really can't say it makes to much difference for what I'm shooting at anyways. I point it at stuff and the stuff gets knocked down and generally with the same hole in it my 4.5mm BB's would have made. Look forward to more Airsoft reviews in the future...

I wanted to get this video out to you a bit sooner but I have been really sick the past three days and so I have not had a lot of time to put this YouTube Video together. It's a pretty simple compilation of some photos and videos I took during my time walking around the 2012 SHOT Show in Las Vegas, not all of it is to do with airguns but most of it is. I even took a few touristy shots since it wasn't all work ;)

Detuned Crosman M4-177 Pneumatic Air Rifle Coming to Canada

I thought you may all be interested in knowing that the Crosman M4-177 Pneumatic Air Rifle is coming to Canada. I was looking through the 2012 Crosman product guide that I picked up when I visited Crosman at the SHOT Show, and I noticed they have a Canadian product code!

I have had a lot of people asking if this one would be fore sale in Canada and it looks like it is coming, the question now is when...

Day One of the SHOT Show 2012!

The SHOT Show is out of this world! You really need a week to check it all out or perhaps a clone of yourself... I barely touched the surface today. I did make sure I had a chance to checkout both Umarex and Crosman, I also made it to some other booths, but I will touch on them later in another post. There is enough information I can share with you from Crosman and Umarex to keep you drooling for now.

In short, here is what is new...

Crosman is bringing back the C51 Glock inspired Blowback BB pistol that we all thought was dead and I have to say it looks really really nice - more to come on this one. Crosman also has the new C*TT BB pistol that looks to be a blowback pistol replica of the Russian Tokarev. I also saw a very nice looking two tone version of the M4-177 and there may just be a Canadian detuned under 500 fps version on the way? Crosman is also introducing a really well made Nitro Piston air pistol called the Benjamin Trail NP that looks to be a very well made break barrel spring piston air pistol that shoots in the 500 fps neighbourhood.

Umarex also had some new items, one of which at first glance looks a lot like the Crosman C41 P38 replica but I have to say it has more going for it with a locking slide, licensed trade marks, true single action and overall just a more realistic version of the real P38. Umarex is also bringing the Smith & Wesson 327 TRR8 BB Revolver to North America, which is very similar to the Dan Wesson line but with extra rails on the top and bottom of the barrel. Umarex is also adding a couple Browning based air guns, one is a low fps Browning Buck Mark copy which is a break barrel .177 caliber pellet shooter targeted for the beginner target shooter and also a Browning High Power replica. One last BB pistol many people have been asking for is the Beretta 90 Two BB pistol and it looks like it has landed in North America finally!

Make sure to check back for some more photos and more info on all these guns...

Baikal Drozd Blackbird IZH MP-661K BB Machine Gun Table Top Review

Click here to check out my Field Test for the Baikal Drozd Blackbird

Type: BB Machine gun.

Manufacturer:Baikal.

Model:Blackbird IZH MP-661K.

Materials: Metal & Polymer.

Weight: 4 pounds.

Barrel: 8 inches, metal-rifled.

Propulsion: CO2 or (Bulk air with adaptor).

Action: Electronic trigger with 1-3-6 round burst & 300-340-600 Rounds Per Minute.

Ammunition Type: 4.5mm steel BB's.

Ammunition Capacity: 900 rounds.

FPS: 360-500.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the IZH Drozd Blackbird is nice and light due to the fact that the trigger is not mechanical but is instead an electronic on-off switch that operates a solenoid. The solenoid pulsates in turn hitting the CO2 valve release. This is how the single fire and burst fire rates are achieved, by means of electronics.

Accuracy: The Drozd Blackbird is designed to be a machine gun and so testing it in single shot mode for accuracy is kind of taking it out of its element. Even so it did reasonably well, but when when I flicked it over to full auto it actually seemed to tighten up and start grouping even more centered and closer together considering the vast amount of rounds coming out of the barrel all at once :)

Build Quality: This is a typical Russian made gun, all business and less importance put on looks but even so it is visually appealing, at least to me! Everything works exactly as it should and even though the main shell is made out of plastic, it's really more of a weapons grade polymer so there is no cause for concern here. There are a fair amount of metal components like the factory barrel, much of the magazine and many internal parts. This air gun is very durable!

Realism: The Baikal Drozd Blackbird IZH MP-661K is not a replica, but it does look like a sub machine gun of sorts, I'm really just not sure exactly what it looks like as it kind of has its own look. When you start shooting it, looks just don't seem to matter anymore, all you can think about is how much damage is happening down range.

Purchased From: The Replica Airguns Store.

Pros:

  • Very well made BB machine gun.

  • Excellent power.

  • Good accuracy in all shooting modes.

  • Uses the 12 gram and 88 gram CO2 (Can also convert to bulk air)

  • Stock version can shoot up to 600 rounds per minute.

  • Rifled barrel.

  • Adjustable rear sight for windage and elevation.

  • Improved rail sits higher and is longer then the classic Drozd.

  • Drastically Improved magazine capacity (motor hopper system)

  • Many mods available for this gun.

  • Great for pest control, especially the ones that are on the move.

  • 10 out of 10 on the fun factor.

  • Made in Russia.

Cons:

  • BB Hopper motor sound is a bit annoying!

  • A bit more accuracy in semi auto mode would have been nice.

  • On the pricey side.

Comments:

The Baikal Drozd Blackbird IZH MP-661K takes all the fun you get with the Classic Drozd and gives you even more fun. It may be one of the more pricy BB machine guns on the market but it is well worth the extra cost to get such a quality product that not only is great out of the box but can also be modified in so many ways to improve its performance and looks dramatically. If you are looking for the absolute top player in the BB Machine gun category then the Drozd Blackbird is the top contender with its excellent build quality and performance along with the nearly unlimited modifications available to make the Blackbird perform up to anyones standards.

Baikal Drozd Blackbird IZH MP-661K BB Machine Gun Field Test

Click here to check out my Table Top Review for the Baikal Drozd Blackbird

I'm kind of doing this one backwards this time around. I was going to do the table top review of the Baikal Drozd Blackbird first but the weather was just too nice to pass up today to not get outside and give this gun a thorough testing.

I will be posting the table top review in a few days with all the specification (Here it is now) but if you're looking for some basic info on the Blackbird you can checkout our online store where you can find some statistics on the Drozd Blackbird and you can also checkout my Drozd Classic Review where I do a short comparison between the Drozd Classic and the newer updated Blackbird version.

I had a lot of fun shooting this gun, it lays down a lot of steel in a very short amount of time and has a virtually endless 900 round BB hopper that just keeps on going. During my testing I shot close to 400 rounds or more using one 88 gram CO2 cartridge and even near the end the Baikal Drozd Blackbird had pretty good feet per second performance.

My Baikal Blackbird does have some upgrades: (JimC Barrel, Full Auto-High RPM Mod Chip, Added Accessory Rails, Red Dot Scope, Tactical Light, Laser and Bulk Air kit) but the stock version is "almost" as fun :)

Enjoy this Vimeo video, it was crazy fun to make!

Crosman NightStalker Field Test Review

First off, make sure to checkout my Table Top Review for the Crosman NightStalker for all the specifications and details on it.

In this Filed Test Review of the Crosman NightStalker .177 caliber pellet shooting air rifle I shoot 5 rounds through the Chronograph to get a real world average FPS of this detuned Canadian version. As expected the CX4 Storm replica does not get anywhere close the 580 FPS the non-regulated version claims to get and even with fairly light 6.9 grain pellets I got an average of just over 400 FPS, also keep in mind I have re-tuned this air rifle a bit to get somewhat higher Feet Per Second performance then the stock Canadian version even if it's not a lot.

Unlike the Umarex Beretta CX4 Storm I also Field Tested, the Crosman CX4 replica air rifle was not so reliable for me when it came to operation, I had several misfires and failures to load which was not what I was expecting since I had shot this gun many times before with very different results. The Crosman NightStalker uses a rotary magazine system which in theory should work pretty well but maybe due to my pellet choice this time around I found the NightStalker almost painful to shoot and I'm not sure why it was acting up so much for me?

<!-- google_ad_client = "ca-pub-9036472715040282"; /* Replica Airguns Content */ google_ad_slot = "1487049688"; google_ad_width = 468; google_ad_height = 15; //-->

During my Accuracy Test using a the Red Dot Scope from 30 feet out in a semi-rested position, I got pretty good results which was a bit of a relief, right around a one inch 12 round grouping. Again this airgun is made for fun and if all was working well I should have been able to empty the 12 round magazine fast and precise but not today. I would not recommend the Night Stalker for any type of small pest control because it is a bit underpowered, but for target practice and plinking it is well suited

As far as recommending this gun, I think if you can get your hands on a used one you should fair pretty well as long as yours does not act up like mine was on this day and time. If you can find the higher FPS version then it would be a nice upgrade to the one I was testing. The original price point for the Crosman NightStalker was not expensive so don't pay too much if you do plan on getting one and expect to play around with pellet choice till you find one it likes best.
