Umarex Beretta PX4 Storm Chronograph and Shooting Test

I wanted to go back and do a full Chronograph Chrony test for my Umarex PX4 Storm and I thought I may as well do a live target shooting test while I was at it. I also thought I would try out my under barrel laser sight and see how it worked and what it looked like while filming it shooting in action. The PX4 shot an average of around 340 fps using 6.9 grain RWS pellets.

And lastly, I pulled out my Casio high speed camera and shot the blowback action of the PX4 Storm, first in real time and then also slowed down to 420 frames per second.

Here is my Vimeo video showing my Chronograph and Shooting results for the Umarex PX4 Storm:

Umarex Colt Government 1911 A1 Nickel CO2 Pellet Gun Review

Type: Pellet air pistol.

Manufacturer:Umarex.

Model:Colt Government 1911 A1 Nickel.

Materials: Mostly metal construction.

Weight: 2.5 pounds.

Barrel: 5 inches, metal rifled.

Propulsion: CO2 x 1.

Action: Semi auto, single and double action.

Ammunition Type: .177 caliber pellets.

Ammunition Capacity: 8 rotary magazine.

FPS: 425.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the Umarex Colt Government 1911 A1 is extremely nice in both single and double action mode with the single action having the lightest pull making it a joy to shoot at targets.

Accuracy: I shot this air gun at a target from 20 feet away in a free standing position, and it performed excellent getting just over a one inch grouping close to the center of the target, just a little bit high. The sights can be adjusted for windage if you are shooting a tad bit to the left or right. My Chrony testing with an eight shot averaged result was 383 fps.

Build Quality: This is an almost all metal air gun with great fit and finish and a nice hefty 2.5 pound weight to it. It's made in Germany, what more do I need to say? The only plastic parts to speak of are the grips which almost feel like a mix between rubber and plastic. All the mechanical parts opperation are as smooth as butter.

Realism: The Umarex Colt Government 1911 A1 is a licensed replica of the real Government Colt 1911 A1 45 auto pistol. It looks pretty much bang on with the exception of the slight break in the slide where the rotary magazine is accessible.

Available From: The Replica Airguns Store.

Pros:

  • Almost all metal construction - good weight and very solid feeling gun - 2.5 pounds!

  • German made.

  • Comes in a nice hard-shell case.

  • Very nice looking gun with the two-tone Nickel and black finish.

  • Adjustable rear sight for windage.

  • Double and Single Action, very smooth and light.

  • Accurate trigger design and working back-strap safety

  • Very good accuracy, decent FPS for a pellet shooter and good usage of CO2

Cons:

  • A bit on the pricy side $200+.

  • The sights are a bit hard to see on certain darker backgrounds.

  • The engravings on my airgun where a bit hard to see.

Comments:

The Umarex Colt Government 1911 A1 is a pleasure to own and shoot, you can really tell this is a quality gun from how smoothly it operates and the confidence it gives you even just holding it in your hands. This well made airgun has been around since the late 90's and even today holds it's own. It may not have a working blowback design or drop out magazine but as far as being a top notch airgun made for shooting and enjoying for years to come, it definitely succeeds in that category.

Umarex Walther PPQ CO2 Pellet & BB Pistol Review

Related Posts:

Type: Pellet & BB air pistol.

Manufacturer: UmarexUSA.

Model: Walther PPQ.

Materials: Plastic (polymer) and metal construction.

Weight: 1.37 pounds.

Barrel: 3.9 inches, metal rifled.

Propulsion: CO2 x 1.

Action: Semi auto, double action only.

Ammunition Type: .177 caliber Pellets and 4.5mm BB's.

Ammunition Capacity: 8 shot rotary magazine.

FPS: 360.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the Umarex Walther PPQ is a bit on the heavy side with most of the effort at the beginning and middle stages, right near the release point it does seem to lighten up a great deal making it easy to put pellets on the target. Just don't expect the PPQ to be the quickest rapid fire gun on the block because of this.

Accuracy: I shot this air pistol at a target from 20 feet away in a free standing position, and it performed well getting an impressive 1.5 inch grouping very close to the center of the target. The sights can be adjusted for windage if your aim is off to one side or the other. My Chrony Chronograph testing using 6.9 grain lead pellets fluctuated between 300 and 360 fps.

Build Quality: This is an almost all external polymer air gun with a good deal of metal components on the inside giving the Walther PPQ a decent overall weight and heft. Some of the external metal parts worth noting are the safety switch, slide release, and trigger. The fit and finish is very good on the PPQ and the plastic is the good stuff - there is a difference!

Realism: The Umarex Walther PPQ is a licensed replica of the real Walther PPQ semi auto pistol. It is a very close looking copy with the exception of some of the trade marks (P99 Q instead of PPQ). There is a lot of attention to detail that helps make this gun very believable!

Provided by: UmarexUSA.

Pros:

  • Very reasonable price for a well made full featured airgun.

  • Excellent reproduction of the real Walther PPQ semi auto pistol.

  • Shoots both pellets and BB's.

  • Rifled barrel.

  • Easy to use yellow dot sights adjustable for windage.

  • Slide catch and safety are realistic and functional.

  • Well designed CO2 access both hides the CO2 and makes it easy to install.

  • Good combination of power, accuracy and CO2 efficiency (I got 80+ shots)!

  • Even though there is a lot of plastic on the outside, there is a lot of metal on the inside giving this airgun some weight and heft.

Cons:

  • The plastic exterior may put off some customers looking for metal guns.

  • The trigger is a might bit heavy making rapid fire something you have to work for!

  • The small .177 caliber viewable barrel port is a bit of a giveaway in terms of realism but may help a bit with fps.

Comments:

The Umarex Walther PPQ Pellet and BB CO2 air pistol took me a bit by surprise. Because the PPQ resides in the lower end price range, I was not expecting it to be as nice of an airgun as it turned out to be! The PPQ has a lot going for it: Shoots both Pellets or BB's, a rifled barrel, adjustable sights, good accuracy, decent power, efficient CO2 usage and good looks. These qualities make it very easy to overlook the mostly plastic exterior!

Cybergun Mini UZI CO2 BB Gun Chronograph and Full Auto Shooting Test

Related Posts:

Today I got my Cybergun Full Auto CO2 powered BB shooting Mini UZI out for a Chrony Chronograph test. As stated by the factory, this BB shooting Mini UZU is supposed to shoot right around 344 fps which is not bad for a true blowback airgun. And what I mean by true blowback - it's when an airgun uses some of the CO2 power to cycle the action of the gun, which cocks the firing mechanism and loads a BB all in the blink of an eye - just like a real semi auto shooter.

The Cybergun Mini UZI shot nicely between 350 and 360 fps - again, another impressive result even on a not too warm day! (10 degrees Celsius - 50 degrees fahrenheit)

<!-- google_ad_client = "ca-pub-9036472715040282"; /* Replica Airguns Content */ google_ad_slot = "1487049688"; google_ad_width = 468; google_ad_height = 15; //-->

I also took the opportunity to film the Cybergun Mini UZI shooting in full auto, at target while I used my high speed Casio camera to slow down what was actually happening. The result is you can really see all that's going on while you fire this dynamic air gun.

Keep in mind that the Cybergun Mini UZI does not come from the factory with the full auto feature. It is an easy mod however, and I have a video here on how to do it.

Zoraki 914 Full Auto Product Review by NicFitNation

I don't post a lot of other people's video here on the site but from time to time when I see a really good one, I'll feature it. This video is from a YouTuber named NicFitNation. What I like about this video most of all is the way VST sums up the reasons for getting a blank gun to begin with. I know most of you already understand the reasoning behind owning a blank gun, but for some reason I seem to answer this question a lot on my YouTube channel.

Make sure to watch the video right to the end as there is a nice demo of the Zoraki 914 shooting in full auto!

Marlin Cowboy Lever Action BB Rifle Chronograph Test

Related Posts:

I don't know if a lot of people out there are going to be interested in the feet per second performance of what some might call a kids BB gun, but I know I was. And since I already had my Chrony chronograph setup I thought it would be just as easy to put my Crosman Marlin Cowboy Lever Action BB shooter through the paces.

<!-- google_ad_client = "ca-pub-9036472715040282"; /* Replica Airguns Content */ google_ad_slot = "1487049688"; google_ad_width = 468; google_ad_height = 15; //-->

The Cowboy has a claimed feet per second rating of  "up to" 350 fps so I wasn't expecting too much. Right off the bat it hit around 300 fps and kept climbing till it hit just under 320 feet per second. I even went back later after shooting it for a bit and hit got to the mid 320's! I think it just needed a bit of breaking in to hit it's full potential.

Anyway, The Crosman Marline Cowboy Lever action rifle is a really fun BB gun to shoot and my son is going to love it when he gets it for his birthday one of these years, when he's ready...

Crosman 1088 Silver CO2 Pellet - BB Gun Review

Type: BB air pistol.

Manufacturer:Crosman.

Model:1088S.

Materials: Mostly plastic.

Weight: 1.1 pounds.

Barrel: 3.8 inches, metal rifled.

Propulsion: CO2 x 1.

Action: Semi auto, double and single action.

Ammunition Type: .177 cal. pellets - 4.5mm BB's.

Ammunition Capacity: 8 round rotary magazine.

FPS: 430.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the Crosman 1088 is pretty good in both single and double action modes, obviously a bit lighter in single action then when in double action. When I was using single action mode, I found the gun would accidentally de-cock its self if I was too tentative right at the break point, I did get used to the break point and was able to shoot in single action mode very effectively with just a bit of practice.

Accuracy: I shot the Crosman 1088 air gun at a target from 20 feet away in a free standing position, and it performed well getting a 1.25 inch grouping right close to the center of the target while using .177 pellets. The rear sight is adjustable for windage which is nice in an entry level pellet gun, the rifled barrel definitely helped this pistol to shoot while using pellets, when using BB's it may not be as accurate.

Build Quality: The 1088 is not going to win any wards for quality of build as it's pretty much an all plastic gun, but Crosman did use metal where it counts the most, in the rifled barrel, the hammer and the CO2 screw and tab (of course there are some metal internal parts).

Realism: The Crosman 1088 is not an actual replica gun, but it does closely resemble the Ruger P345 (.45 Auto). The 1088 does not have any of the Ruger's trademarks or licensing but it does share the basic shape and design of the Ruger P345.

Purchased From: The Replica Airguns Store.

Pros:

  • The price is right!

  • It has a rifled barrel.

  • Can shoot both pellets and BB's.

  • Has an adjustable rear sight for windage.

  • Has good accuracy and decent power.

  • CO2 screw and tab are hidden in the handle.

  • Is both a single and double action shooter.

  • Has a modern look with an under barrel accessory rail.

  • Made in the US.

Cons:

  • This gun is almost all plastic.

  • Trigger in single action mode can sometime de-cock the gun when slowly activating the trigger.

Comments:

There is no doubt that if this pellet shooter had more metal, it would appeal to a lot more people and would probably fetch a lot more money! That said, the plastic does not actually take away from the shooting experience and if you can get your mind around the plastic build quality, you will find this is a great little diverse pellet pistol with many excellent features like a rifled barrel, single and double action mode, ability to shoot pellets and BB's all with an adjustable rear sight.

EKOL Major 9mm P.A.K. 007 PPK Blank Gun Review

Related Posts:

Type: Blank Pistol.

Manufacturer:EKOL - VOLTRAN.

Model: Major.

Materials: Mostly Metal.

Weight: 1.25 pounds.

Barrel: Semi plugged - front firing.

Propulsion: Gun powder.

Action: Semi auto single action.

Ammunition Type: 9mm P.A.K. blanks.

Ammunition Capacity: 7+1 rounds.

FPS: N/A.

Trigger Pull: The EKOL Major is single action only, the trigger pull is relatively light as would be expected.

Accuracy: N/A.

Build Quality: The build quality is similar to that of my Zoraki blank guns. The EKOL Major is well built and uses good quality materials, this gun is almost all metal. The finish quality is typical of other Turkish guns - good but not perfect, the satin finish on the Major looks really good giving the gun a nice two-tone look. I can't say I like the grips all that much as they are a bit shinny, but they do the job and don't to be brittle or anything. The gun seems solid and the fit and finish are also respectable.

Realism: The EKOL Major is a copy of the Walther PPK pistol most notoriously used by Agent 007 in many of the early James Bond movies. It is a fairly accurate PPK copy other than the magazine release which on the EKOL Major is located on the bottom of the handle just behind the magazine, whereas on the real Walther PPK it is located on the left side of the frame just behind the trigger.

Purchased From: the Replica Airguns Store

Pros:

  • In Canada you can only get this gun in a blank version unless you have a prohibited gun license.

  • If you're a James Bond fan, would make a great addition to your 007 collection.

  • Performed well - no loading, ejecting or misfires.

  • Even though it's small it still can take 7+1 rounds of 9mm P.A.K. ammo.

  • One of the lower priced blank guns.

  • Nice Satin two-tone finish.

<!-- google_ad_client = "ca-pub-9036472715040282"; /* Replica Airguns Content */ google_ad_slot = "1487049688"; google_ad_width = 468; google_ad_height = 15; //-->

Cons:

  • Magazine ejector is on the bottom and not the side like a real PPK, but it's still effective.

  • No slide release but this is true to the original design.

  • I wouldn't of minded the grips to be more of a matte finished, not a big fan of shinny grips

Comments:

The EKOL Major is a nice overall 9mm P.A.K. blank shooter, it has a very simple design and the classic semi auto compact pistol look. It is one of the easier guns to filed strip making it easy to clean if you plan on using it regularly. If your a James Bond fan and want the Agent 007 sidearm without the hassle of actually purchasing a real Walther PPK then the EKOL Major might just be right for you.

EKOL ARDA 8MM P.A.K. BLANK POCKET REVOLVER REVIEW

Related Posts:

Type: Blank Pocket Revolver.

Manufacturer:EKOL - VOLTRAN.

Model: Arda.

Materials: Mostly Metal.

Weight: .55 pounds.

Barrel: Semi plugged - front firing.

Propulsion: Gun powder.

Action: Semi auto single action.

Ammunition Type: 8mm P.A.K. blanks.

Ammunition Capacity: 5 rounds.

FPS: N/A.

Trigger Pull: As the Arda is single action only, the trigger pull requires pre-cocking of the hammer before each shot, just like the old west six shooters.

Accuracy: N/A.

Build Quality: The build quality is similar to that of my Zoraki blank guns. The EKOL Arda pocket revolver is well built and uses good quality materials, this gun is almost all metal. The finish quality is typical of other Turkish guns - good but not perfect, the gloss black finish on the Arda looks really good and seems to have filled in most of the imperfections. You will get some powder burns in areas that the gasses escape such as between the cylinder and the beginning of the barrel.

Realism: The EKOL Arda is fairly unique, I don't know of an actual gun that it resembles? It's kind of a cross between a Derringer and a tinny snub nosed revolver.

Purchased From: the Replica Airguns Store

Pros:

  • In Canada these guns are some of the few blank guns available for purchase that are not prohibited.

  • Would make a good training gun animals (retrievers - guard dogs - police dogs) or a compact starter pistol.

  • Revolvers are always dependable, no loading or ejecting problems like you can have with some semi-autos.

  • Extremely compact blank shooter.

  • Nice gloss black finish.

Cons:

  • 8mm P.A.K. Blank ammo is expensive.

  • Only holds 5 rounds

  • Single action only with pre-cocking required.

  • The powder from shooting will wear the finish a bit between the barrel and the cylinder.

Comments:

The EKOL Arda blank pocket revolver is a nice addition to our growing number of legal blank guns in Canada. The Arda is a very interesting looking blank pistol and it may not appeal to everyone? I found it so unique looking that I just had to have it as it's just nothing like any other blank gun I own. If you want an ultra compact pistol with revolver reliability then pick yourself up an EKOL Arda and get a small gun with a big bang!

ASG Dan Wesson 6 inch Silver & 8 inch Black CO2 BB Revolver Review

Related Posts:

Type: BB air Revolvers.

Manufacturer: ASG.

Model:Dan Wesson 6 and 8 inch.

Materials: Mostly Metal.

Weight: 2.25 - 2.3 pounds.

Barrel: Metal non-rifled.

Propulsion: CO2 x 1.

Action: Revolver, single and double action.

Ammunition Type: 4.5mm BB's.

Ammunition Capacity: 6 rounds.

FPS: 426.

Trigger Pull: The ASG Dan Wesson Revolvers have predictable trigers with the single action being a bit more consistent, not just in feel but in fps also. Double action mode is very usable without a lot of extra pressure required. I found I just wanted to shoot this gun in single action mode because it felt more natural with a six shooter.

Accuracy: I shot the pair of Dan Wesson Revolvers  at a target from 20 feet away in a free standing position, and they performed well getting a 1.5 to 2 inch grouping just to the left of the target. The sights are adjustable for elevation and windage so getting these guns centered on the bullseye would be very easy. My Chrony testing with a six shot averaged result was 395 fps for the six inch and 447 fps for the 8 inch Dan Wesson.

Build Quality: These fine revolvers are extremely well built, I am beginning to think just about any product from ASG would not disappoint me, after reviewing the Dan Wesson's and CZ 75 P-07 DUTY. The Dan Wesson BB revolvers are almost all metal with just a few components made out of plastic, like the handles and CO2 screw tab. The handles feel like a cross between plastic and rubber. The finish on the six inch silver Dan Wesson is amazing and looks just like polished stainless steel. The black eight inch version has an almost metallic speckled finish without the shininess.

Realism: The ASG Dan Wesson BB revolvers are as close as you can get to a real six shooter, ASG didn't leave any detail out and thought of a few I may have never even dreamt up! Loading and ejecting actual brass shells into the cylinder makes you feel like this gun is much more then an unassuming airgun!

Purchased From: The Replica Airguns Store.

Pros:

  • It's a revolver with actual brass shells giving you the feeling of a real 6 shooter!

  • Almost all metal design.

  • lots of detail in this gun, very well made, fit and finish is excellent.

  • Good power and good accuracy.

  • Fully adjustable sights.

  • If I could have dreamt up this gun I don't think I could have done as good a job!

Cons:

  • Very hard to get this gun in North America.

  • Plastic CO2 screw tab.

  • Only shoots BB's, would have been cool to shoot pellets too.

Comments:

I'm not really a revolver person, or should I say I wasn't really a revolver person, well until I got my Dan Wessons! I felt this way because most of the air gun revolvers available look just like that - they look like air guns! The Dan Wesson BB revolvers showed me that an air gun revolver can be just as cool as any of my very realistic automatic air pistols in my collection. And if you where already a revolver fan then the Dan Wesson CO2 BB revolvers are definitely for you.

UMAREX S&W M&P CO2 4.5MM BB PISTOL REVIEW

Related Posts:

Type: BB air pistol.

Manufacturer:Umarex.

Model:Smith & Wesosn M&P.

Materials: Mostly plastic construction with a few metal parts.

Weight: 1 pound.

Barrel: 4.25 inches, metal non-rifled.

Propulsion: CO2 x 1.

Action: Semi auto, double action.

Ammunition Type: 4.5mm BB's.

Ammunition Capacity: 19 round magazine.

FPS: 480.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on this gun is medium weight and a bit long, the break point is a bit hard to predict but once you get used to it being on the long side it shoots pretty good.

Accuracy: This was my second time shooting the S&W M&P at a target from 20 feet away in a free standing position, and this time it performed not as good as the as the first time i shot it - or should I say maybe I didn't perform as well as the first time shooting? Either way, this gun is capable of shooting a 1 inch group from about 20 feet away.

Build Quality: The Smith & Wesson M&P is built about as cheaply as they come with an almost all plastic construction, even the plastic is kind of cheap looking when compared to another mostly plastic air gun like the H&K USP which looks much nicer even though it too uses a lot plastic in its build materials. With that said, the S&W M&P seemed to function just fine.

Realism: The Umarex S&W M&P is a licensed replica of the real Smith & Wesson M&P 40 pistol. It is a very close looking copy with teh exception of it being mostly plastic and lighter in weight.

Purchased this gun from: The Replica Airguns Store.

Pros:

  • Good accuracy and power combination.

  • All metal drop out magazine.

  • Good replica in terms of accuracy compared to there real S&W M&P 40.

  • Would make a great gun prop for TV or Movie.

  • Inexpensive to own and shoot.

<!-- google_ad_client = "ca-pub-9036472715040282"; /* Replica Airguns Content */ google_ad_slot = "1487049688"; google_ad_width = 468; google_ad_height = 15; //-->

Cons:

  • All plastic except for magazine.

  • Light weight makes it feel cheap.

  • Plastic is very shiny, a more matt finish would have looked better and more realistic.

  • I don't like the screw holes - a dead giveaway.

Comments:

This is another low cost replica air gun from Umarex designed for the more entry level buyer. I wasn't a big fan of the Umarex S&W M&P even before I bought, I purchased it mainly for the comparison review. I have to say the S&W M&P has grown on me soemhwat after shooting and reviewing it, as it does shot well and has great sights on it. I like the fact that the S&W M&P is very true to the original pistol in appearance which as I mentioned before makes it a great candidate as a low cost prop gun for TV and Movie sets.

EKOL TUNA 8MM P.A.K. BLANK GUN REVIEW

Type: Blank Gun.

Manufacturer:EKOL - VOLTRAN.

Model: Tuna.

Materials: Mostly Metal.

Weight: .9 pounds.

Barrel: Semi plugged - front firing.

Propulsion: Gun powder.

Action: Semi auto single action.

Ammunition Type: 8mm P.A.K. blanks.

Ammunition Capacity: 6 round magazine.

FPS: N/A.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull of the Tuna is light to medium and as with most of the EKOL guns seems to get lighter as you break the gun in.

Accuracy: N/A.

Build Quality: The build quality is similar to that of my Zoraki blank guns. The EKOL Tuna is well built and uses good quality materials, this gun is almost all metal. The finish quality is typical of other Turkish guns - good but not perfect, the gloss black finish on the Tuna looks really good and seems to have filled in most of the imperfections.

Realism: The Tuna is very similar in design and appearance to the Tanfoglio GT27, a small .25 Automatic sub compact pistols.

Purchased From: the Replica Airguns Store

Pros:

  • In Canada these guns are some of the few blank guns available for purchase that are not prohibited.

  • Very good construction, lots of metal parts and good weight to this blank gun even for its small size.

  • Inexpensive blank gun to purchase.

  • Nice extremely compact blank shooter.

  • Worked very well, no jams, misfires or failure to eject or load in my testing.

  • Great training gun, as it operates exactly like a real gun without the deadly force.

Cons:

  • 8mm P.A.K. Blank ammo is expensive.

  • Mine was a bit hard to field strip at first - when removing the slide.

Comments:

The EKOL Tuna blank gun is a nice addition to our growing number of legal blank guns in Canada. EKOL offers a nice variety of models and finishes to choose from. The EKOL Tuna and Volga are very similar with the Tuna being just a bit smaller, chambered for 8mm and the Tuna has a slightly higher capacity magazine. Out of the two, I would recommend the Tuna unless you want to stick with 9mm P.A.K. ammo only.

I have been wanting to shoot my latest batch of EKOL Blank Guns, and today I was able to do just that! I left out my EKOL Firat because I have already done a shooting review of the EKOL Jackal and these guns are virtually identical with the exception of the Jack Dual being a semi and full auto blank shooter. Here are the guns I got to shoot today: (EKOL Arda, Tuna, Major, Special 99 and ASI UZI), all of which where purchased from the Replica Airguns Store.

In this video I use both my Canon T2i DSLR and my Casio EX-FC100 high speed camera so I was able to capture it all in both High Definition and in High Speed slow motion. First off I was very impressed with how all of these EKOL blank guns performed, this was my first time shooting them and they all shot every round without a misfire, jam or loading problem.

Build Quality: The build quality is similar to that of my Zoraki 925 blank gun. The outer polymer shell is very durable and on the inside lives an all metal Jackal Dual. The fit and finish are very good making it hard to image this is essentially a pistol with a plastic shell wrapped around it.

Realism: The ASI UZI closely resembles the Mini UZI but is not an exact copy. It is the basic size weight and shape however.

Purchased From: The Replica Airguns Store.

Pros:

  • Semi and Full auto makes this gun a lot of fun to shoot.

  • Very good construction, lots of internal metal parts and quality plastics on the outside.

  • Comes with both a 15 round and 25 round magazine.

  • Has a built in foregrip.

  • Would make a great prop gun as it looks like the stereotypical mini machine gun.

Cons:

  • 9mm P.A.K. Blank ammo is expensive and this gun can go through it fast!

  • Can be a bit pricey depending on where you purchase it from.

  • Comes in a cardboard box, not a plastic hard shell case.

Comments:

The EKOL ASI UZI is a blank machine gun which right there says it all! Who wouldn't want to get their hands on this and shoot a bunch of blank ammo off in full auto mode? If you don't mind paying a bit more for this luxury then the EKOL ASI blank machine gun is for you. Just make sure to buy lots of 9mm P.A.K ammo.

Type: Blank Gun.

Manufacturer:EKOL - VOLTRAN.

Model: Special 99.

Materials: Mostly Metal.

Weight: 1.7 pounds.

Barrel: Semi plugged - front firing.

Propulsion: Gun powder.

Action: Semi auto single & double action.

Ammunition Type: 9mm P.A.K. blanks.

Ammunition Capacity: 8 round single stack magazine.

FPS: N/A.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull of the EKOL Special 99 is medium to heavy when in double action mode, but once the hammer is back, the single action mode is one of the lightest triggers I have ever felt. I imagine if this was an actual target shooter it would be a dream to fire on target!

Accuracy: N/A.

Build Quality: The build quality is similar to that of my Zoraki blank guns. The EKOL Special 99 is well built and uses good quality materials, this gun is almost all metal and for it's medium size has a good weight to it. The finish quality is typical of other Turkish guns - good but not perfect. The two satin tone look suits this gun and brings out its features.

Realism: The EKOL Special 99 is a pretty good replica of the Beretta Cheetah, most like the model 85 (.380 caliber) as they both share the single stack 8 round magazine.

Purchased From: the Replica Airguns Store

Pros:

  • Very good construction, lots of metal parts and good solid weight in a medium sized gun.

  • Plastic grips and the magazine end cap are much better quality on the Special 99 then on other EKOL guns.

  • The two tone satin finish really suits this pistol.

  • Good replica of the Beretta Cheetah Model 85.

  • Great single action trigger feel.

Cons:

  • There is not much slide to grab when trying to pull it back and the safety gets a bit in the way of racking the slide.

  • The Magazine takes a bit of effort to load into the gun, but you get used to it.

Comments:

The EKOL Special 99 blank gun is a nice addition to our growing number of legal blank guns in Canada. EKOL offers a nice variety of models to choose from with a nice assortment of finishes. I like the fact that the EKOL Special 99 is truly a replica gun very closely resembling the Beretta Cheetah pistol which will draw many Beretta fans to this blank shooter. Another thing that makes the EKOL Special 99 kind of "special" is it's almost perfect mid sized dimensions. It's not too big or small and for that reason should be suitable for almost anyone.

EKOL ES 55 CO2 4.5mm BB Pistol Review

Related Posts:

Type: BB air pistol.

Manufacturer:EKOL.

Model:ES 55.

Materials: All metal construction.

Weight: 2.25 pounds.

Barrel: Metal rifled.

Propulsion: CO2 x 1.

Action: Semi auto, single & double action.

Ammunition Type: 4.5mm BB's.

Ammunition Capacity: 15+1 round magazine.

FPS: 396.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on this gun is fairly heavy in double action mode as the hammer spring is firm. In Single action mode the trigger pull lightened up a lot and allows for respective target shooting.

Accuracy: I conducted my test shooting from a target 20 feet away in a free standing position. The EKOL ES 55 gave me a respective 2 inch grouping. I think with practice, I could get this easily down to a 1 to 1.5 inch group as I was not initial comfortable shooting this gun. After shooting it for a while I did become used to the characteristics of the ES 55.

Build Quality: The EKOL ES 55 comes from a company primarily making blank guns. EKOL makes this gun directly from a similar model (The EKOL Sava) that shoots blanks so in many ways the ES 55 is designed more like a real gun than an air gun. The EKOL ES 55 is all metal with rubber grips and feels fantastic in the hand. There are really no plastic parts to speak of and I could not find any quality concerns on this gun at all! The gloss black painted finish is flawless on this gun!

Realism: The EKOL ES 55 is not a replica of any one gun so to speak, it looks a bit like a bunch of guns: maybe the closest one being the Glock? It does have characteristics from other guns but in terms of does this look like a real gun? Yes very much so, and when you hold it in your hand, you will find it hard to believe its an airgun.

Purchased From: The Replica Airguns Store

Pros:

  • Very solid all metal construction!

  • Good accuracy and excellent power combination.

  • Full size metal drop out magazine.

  • Nice rubber grips.

  • Single and double action.

  • Moveable slide.

  • Rifled barrel

  • Designed more like a real gun than an air gun.

Cons:

  • Ejection port is moulded into the gun.

  • Sights a bit hard to see on dark backgrounds.

  • Slide does not move when magazine loaded into gun.

  • Slide release is non functioning.

Comments:

This is my first ever air gun from EKOL, I have been very happy with their blank guns so it does not surprise me that their CO2 BB guns are just as nice. The EKOL ES 55 is a well built very solid CO2 BB shooter and has excellent velocity and respectable accuracy from its rifled barrel. I found the gloss black finish to be very good on the ES 55. That combined with the rubberized grips makes this BB pistol a very attractive air gun. The EKOL ES 55 isn't the least expensive BB pistol on the block but it won't break the bank either and at the end of the day you get really good value for a gun you will hopefully own a lifetime.

UPDATE - Feb. 22nd: Added a YouTube video to this post.

Back on January 30th I made a post about the Replica Airguns Store getting some new EKOL Blank Guns and Airguns. We'll I just got my review shipment of them in today and had some fun looking them all over. I don't plan on keeping all of them, but I will most certainly keep a few for my personal inventory!

Let's take a closer look at some of these fine EKOL blank guns and air guns:

EKOL ASI - $269US(Order-now)

The EKOL ASI is a very nice semi auto and full auto front firing 9mm P.A.K blank machine gun. This well built blank shooter comes with a 15 round and 25 round magazine and has selectable semi or full auto firing modes. This blank machine-gun is destined for my collection...

EKOL FIRAT - $139US (Order-now)

You may remember my reviews on the EKOL Jackal Dual? This is it's little brother in the compact version and with semi auto only. Other than that it's the same exact 15 round 9mm P.A.K. blank gun!

EKOL SPECIAL 99 - $119US (Order-now)

The EKOL Special 99 is a mid-sized Beretta styled blank shooter that comes with a single stack 8 round 9mm P.A.K. magazine. I was instantly impressed with the styling and overall feel of this gun. I'm pretty sure this one is a keeper!

EKOL ES 55 - $159CAN (Order-now)

In the mix of Blank shooters came this EKOL ES 55 4.5mm BB gun, I'm going to have to shoot a few rounds through this arigun before I can really comment on it. Still a very nice looking all metal BB shooter with a full size drop out 16 round magazine.

EKOL MAJOR - $109US (Order-now)

If your a James Bond fan, you will recognize the design of this gun, it's a replica of the Walther PPK compact semi auto, Bond's favorite sidearm in many of the 007 movies. This particular version uses 9mm P.A.K blanks and holds 7 rounds in the magazine. I already have a few PPK styled blank guns so I'm not sure if this one is staying with me...

EKOL TUNA - $79US (Order-now)

Now we are getting into the light weight blank guns, and I thought my EKOL Volga was small! The EKOL Tuna is pretty similar to the EKOL Volga in looks and design but comes in just a bit smaller and hold 6 rounds of 8mm P.A.K. blanks in it's tinny single stack magazine. Even though this blank gun is so similar to my EKOL Volga, I may find it just a bit too hard to give up?

EKOL ARDA - $89US (Order-now)

If you're looking for a small blank gun - look no further! The EKOL Arda is crazy small but even so feels solid in the hand, just make sure to hold on tight! The Arda hold 5 rounds of 8mm P.A.K. blank ammo in it's cylinder and uses a pre-cocked single action only hammer, just like back in the wild west.

UMAREX COLT DEFENDER CO2 4.5MM BB PISTOL REVIEW

Related Posts:

Type: BB air pistol.

Manufacturer:Umarex.

Model:Colt Defender.

Materials: Mostly metal construction with a few plastic parts.

Weight: 1.6 pounds.

Barrel: 4.3 inches, metal non-rifled.

Propulsion: CO2 x 1.

Action: Semi auto, double action.

Ammunition Type: 4.5mm BB's.

Ammunition Capacity: 18 round magazine.

FPS: 440.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on this gun is medium and a bit long, the break point is a bit hard to predict but once you get used to it being on the long side it shoots pretty good.

Accuracy: This was my second time shooting the Colt Defender at a target from 20 feet away in a free standing position, and again it performed about the same as the first time, with a decent 2 inch grouping. I think with practice, I could get this easily down to a 1.5 inch group.

Build Quality: As the Colt Defender is almost all metal, you can't really complain to much about the durability aspects of this gun. Where I was let down a bit was the lack of functionality. In other words - parts that normally served a purpose like the hammer, slide release, sight adjustments and rear safety - all where just molded into the metal gun and where only for show.

Realism: The Umarex Colt Defender is a licensed replica of the real 45 auto Colt Defender pistol. It is a close looking copy with the exception of the trigger mechanism.

Purchased this gun at : The Replica Airguns Store.

Pros:

  • Almost all metal construction!

  • Good accuracy and power combination.

  • Very solid and durable air gun.

  • Decent replica of the actual Colt Defender 45 auto.

<!-- google_ad_client = "ca-pub-9036472715040282"; /* Replica Airguns Content */ google_ad_slot = "1487049688"; google_ad_width = 468; google_ad_height = 15; //-->

Cons:

  • Most of the mechanical parts are molded into the gun.

  • I don't like the screw holes on the right hand side of the gun - a dead giveaway.

  • I would have liked a drop out magazine.

  • Ejection port metal material is only a plastic sticker.

Comments:

This is another low cost replica air gun from Umarex designed for the more entry level buyer. It's a very solid and well made gun being that it's mostly metal. There are many positive aspects about teh Colt Defender, it's fairly consistent and accurate, has all the Colt licensing and trademark, has a good 440fps, uses an all metal design, and comes in at a very affordable price.

Weight: 1.8 pounds.

Barrel: 4 inches, metal non-rifled.

Propulsion: CO2 x 1.

Action: Semi auto, double action.

Ammunition Type: 4.5mm BB's.

Ammunition Capacity: 22 round magazine.

Accuracy: This was my second time shooting the H&K USP at a target from 20 feet out free standing and again it performed about the same with a decent 2 inch grouping.

Build Quality: You would think as this air pistol is mostly all plastic on the outside, that it would seem cheap and not so well made, but in fact the opposite is true! The plastic is of very good quality and form looking at it you would think the slide was actually made out of metal. Many of the internal parts and the full size drop free magazine are made out of metal giving the H&K USP a very solid and hefty feel.

Realism: The Umarex H&K USP is a licensed replica of the real H&K USP automatic pistol. It is an extremely close looking and accurate copy.

Purchased this gun from: The Replica Airguns Store.

Pros:

  • Good price for such a realistic looking replica - excellent prop gun!

  • Good accuracy and power combination.

  • Nice full size 22 round drop out metal magazine..

  • Even though it has a lot of plastic, they used high quality materials.

<!-- google_ad_client = "ca-pub-9036472715040282"; /* Replica Airguns Content */ google_ad_slot = "1487049688"; google_ad_width = 468; google_ad_height = 15; //-->

Cons:

  • No blowback.

  • Would have been nice to have at least a metal slide.

  • Slide catch is moulded into the frame and the slide does not function in any way.

Comments:

This is another low cost replica air gun from Umarex designed for the more entry level buyer. It's actually a very well made gun despite all the plastic parts and it even has all the H&K USP licensing and trademarks. There is a lot of good with the Umarex H&K USP, it's fairly consistent and accurate, has good fps, uses "good quality" plastic, and  comes in at a very affordable price.

EKOL DICLE 9MM P.A.K. BLANK GUN REVIEW

Related Posts:

Type: Blank Gun.

Manufacturer:EKOL - VOLTRAN.

Model: Dicle.

Materials: Mostly Metal.

Weight: 2.5 pounds.

Barrel: Semi plugged - front firing.

Propulsion: Gun powder.

Action: Semi auto single & double action.

Ammunition Type: 9mm P.A.K. blanks.

Ammunition Capacity: 15 round magazine.

FPS: N/A.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull of the Dicle is fairly heavy in double action mode, even cocking the hammer takes some effort, but once the hammer is back the single action mode is much lighter. I have not put many rounds through this gun and have found the EKOL's take some breaking in before they loosen up a bit.

Accuracy: N/A.

Build Quality: The build quality is similar to that of my Zoraki blank guns. The EKOL Dicle is well built and uses good quality materials, this gun is almost all metal and very heavy with a thick slide and heavy frame. The finish quality is typical of other Turkish guns - good but not perfect. The two tone look suits this gun and brings out its features.

Realism: The EKOL Dicle is not an exact copy of the Beretta Cougar, but it does look very similar with the exception of the elongated thumb guard.

Purchase From: The Replica Airguns Store.

Pros:

  • Very good construction, lots of metal parts and good solid weight to the Dicle.

  • The two tone finish really suits this pistol.

  • Worked very well, no jams, misfires or failure to eject or load.

  • Looks very much like the Beretta Cougar.

Cons:

  • Plastic grips are a bit cheap looking.

  • The plastic but piece at the bottom of the magazine seems a bit cheap and out of place with the rest of this well made gun.

  • A bit of a bulky gun, may be a bit too much gun for some people.

Comments:

The EKOL Dicle blank gun is a nice addition to our growing number of legal blank guns in Canada. EKOL offers a nice variety of models to choose from with an assortment of finishes. I was not expecting to like the Dicle as much as I did, in photos you just can't fully appreciate how solid this gun really is. The quality and finish is pretty good overall with the usual few minimal cosmetic imperfection found on many Turkish blank guns. This gun test fired without incident, I shoot several rounds through it and had no miss fires, failures to load or eject.
