In this Vimeo video, I go over a common question I get pertaining to the recoil effect of Airguns and Blank Guns. Many people want to know if Airguns and Blank Guns have similar recoil effects to a Real Guns and if so, how much recoil will you feel from an Airgun or Blank Gun?
The short answer is yes, there is some recoil with both Airguns and Blank Guns since whenever there is a force in one direction there will be a somewhat similar force in the opposite direction creating what we feel as recoil. With Airguns since the force from the CO2 or compressed air is rather small in comparison to that of the gun powder blast from a Real Guns or even a Blank Gun, the recoil is very slight. Blank Guns have similar gun powder charges to a Real Gun and so the recoil is more noticeable but unlike a Real Gun, a Blank Gun does not really push against a sizable object like a bullet, a Blank Gun only pushes against the air in front of the barrel which has very limited resistance and so there will be much less felt recoil from a Blank Gun than the recoil from a Real Gun pushing on a heavy grain bullet.
With semi auto Guns like Blowback Pellet and BB Guns and semi auto Blank Guns, there is also the momentum and mass of the slide to consider as it moves backwards and forwards which also gives the effect of recoil and in the case of an Airgun accounts for most of the recoil felt by the shooter.

Some of you may have already watched my Tanfoglio Gold Custom Field Test Video which is basically the same gun but with a sight rail and a compensator up front. In theory both guns should perform very similarly depending on the outside temperature and of course the shooters ability that day :)
During this field test for the KWC Mdoel 75 Tac BB Pistol, I put 5 shots through my Chronograph using a brand new CO2 and 5.1 grain Umarex zinc Coated BB's. I averaged just a slight bit under the factory claimed 325 fps but not by much coming in at 315 which was pretty good considering it was far from a warm summer day, perhaps about 15 Celsius?
Stepping back to my 30 foot mark, I shot 10 rounds at a paper target using a semi rested position (Sand bag up front and standing in the back). There was a 7 shot noticeable 1.5 inch group with 3 of the 10 shots hitting just outside that tighter group stretching it out to a bit over 2 inches. I was shooting a bit high and the left wiht the KWC Model 75 Tac Blowback BB Pistol but this could easily be corrected by trimming up the full adjustable rear sight.
Just like the Cybergun Tanfoglio Gold Custom, the KWC Model 75 Tac Blowback BB Pistolhas a very smooth, short and light single action trigger along with a nice crisp blowback action and a great overall balance. With this none sight rail and compensator version you do get the rear fully adjustable sight along with a more compact overall pistol that performs in much the same manor as its larger brother. Either version will allow for very quick and accurate shooting none the less.
I like shooting 1911 styled pistols, the KJWorks KP-06 1911 HI-CAPA Blowback Airsoft Pistol is no exception, it's a bit beefier in terms of overall size and even handle grip thickness but held well for me.
So let's get right to the test results! I started off by shooting 5 rounds through my Chronograph using a brand new CO2 along with .25 gram plastic Airsoft BB's. My 5 shot average velocity was 329 fps and the temperature on this day was not too warm, perhaps around 15-18 Celsius. So on a warmer day you can expect to get higher fps out of the KJWorks KP-06 Airsoft Pistol.
Moving on to the Target accuracy performance, I shot 10 .25 gram rounds using the KJWorks KP-06 from a 30 foot distance using a semi rested position (Sand bag in the front, standing in the back). I was able to place the bulk of the shots within a 1.5 inch group but one shot came out extending the group to about 2 inches. Overall the placement was fairly well centered on target, just a hair to the right but one could easily adjust the green dot sights for both windage and/or elevation as required.
The single action 1911 type trigger is exactly what you would expect from a 1911, short, light and crisp. The blowback action is very solid and this pistol settles down after each shot very quickly. If you don't mind a 1911 styled Airsoft pistol with a bit bulkier size than the KJWorks KP-06 1911 HI-CAPA may just make a good choice.
This Field Test Shooting video is not going to have any big surprises but even so I really like shooting these KWC made CO2 Blowback BB 1911 Replicas and the Umarex Colt Commander is no exception.
So let's get right to the test results! I started off by shooting 5 rounds through my Chronograph using a brand new CO2 with Umarex 5.1 grain zinc coated 4.5 mm Steel BB's. My 5 shot average velocity was 306 fps and the temperature on this day was fairly average at 22 Celsius (72 Fahrenheit). So on a warmer day you can expect to get a bit higher fps out of the Umarex Colt Commander CO2 Blowback 4.5mm BB Pistol.
Moving on to the Target accuracy performance, I shot 10 rounds from the Umarex Colt Commander from 30 feet back using a semi rested position (Sand bag in the front, standing in the back). I was able to place the bulk of the shots within a 1.5 inch group but three came out extending the group somewhat, overall the placement was fairly well centered on target and the white dot sights make sighting the Umarex Colt Commander CO2 Blowback 4.5mm BB Pistol really easy on just about any color background.
The single action 1911 type trigger is exactly what you would expect from a 1911, short, light and crisp. The blowback action is solid and like a real 1911 almost has that delayed sluggish feel to it.

In this official Field Test Shooting Video, I do my standard Chronograph test where I shoot a series of .25 gram 6mm Plastic Airsoft BB's using a brand new CO2 cartridge to see what kind of real word Feet Per Second performance I can get out of the KWC Mauser CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol. On this medium temperature day I averaged a very quick 415 fps which may be a bit hot for most Airsoft matches. The temperature was fairly cool at 14 Celsius or 57 Fahrenheit so the fps will only get faster on a warmer day.
During my Accuracy Shooting Test, I set myself up 30 feet away using a semi-rested stance (Sand bag up front, standing in the back). I did have to adjust my rear sight to the lowest position and even then I found that I needed to aim at the lowest ring on the target to get my shots close to the center and even then they placed a bit high. Even though the KWC Mauser Airsoft Pistol shot high the results where very good, resulting in a 10 shot grouping in the 1.5 to 2 inch range!
Overall I really enjoyed shooting the KWC Mauser CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol, the trigger is super nice and short with a light single action release. The blowback action is very quick and snappy which really makes the full auto rate of fire very high. You will go through a 21 round magazine in a hurry! It is a sample or prototype pistol and I would imagine that KWC could work on getting the FPS juts a bit lower so it would be more usable in an Airsoft Game, and while they're at it they should bring the shot placement down just a bit. Other than that it's a really great Airsoft War pistol replica worthy of addition to anyone collection.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed shooting the KWC P-08 Luger CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol, the trigger is nice, short and light and the blowback action reminded me a lot of the more sluggish blowback you get from a 1911 styled pistol. You can't help but notice the toggle popping up with every shot which can be distracting at first but it sure comes in handy when it locks back on the last shot clearly indicating that the pistol is empty of rounds. The KWC P-08 Luger CO2 Blowback Pistol is for sure an Airsoft replica any war pistol enthusiast will want to have.

On this day I averages right around 390 fps which was very close to the claimed 360 fps form Umarex. The temperature was right around 24 Celsius or 75 Fahrenheit so it was neither cold or hot.

During my previous pretest, the Umarex Revolver did well but seemed to spread out a bit vertically, this may have been due to the plastic tips on the shells needing to break in for a more consistent BB fit.
The Umarex Colt Python 357 has taken it up a notch by adding just a bit more overall weight than most comparable shell loading BB revolvers, a smother trigger and hammer mechanism and styling this revolver on the Classic Colt Python platform. If you're a revolver fan, make sure to grab one of these and if you're not a revolver fan, this pistol may just change your mind :)

On this day I averages right around 370 fps which is not bad considering it is claimed to have 360 fps. The temperature was right around 24 Celsius or 75 Fahrenheit so it was neither cold or hot.
Moving on with the Accuracy Shooting Test, I set myself up 30 feet away using a semi-rested stance (Sand bag up front, standing in the back) I did not get my best grouping in this test, with my 10 shot group spreading out to almost 3.5 inches. During my previous pretest, I was able to shoot a tighter 2 inch group with 10 well placed shots using the Umarex Walther PPS.
Even with my less then best results in the accuracy department, I still love this pistol, it has a reasonable trigger with a nice snappy blowback that is a bit surprising from such a tiny BB pistol, FPS is also good considering its size and I know this gun is able to shoot much tighter than I performed during this test.
Action: Semi & full auto, single action only with full blowback.

Trigger Pull: The Single Action Only trigger pull on the KWC Mauser CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol is what you would expect from a full blowback, true single action only pistol, it has a little bit of take-up and then a smooth fairly light release. Of course when in full auto mode, just press and hold the trigger till the ammo is gone, but don't hold the trigger too long since when the BB's run out, the gun will keep firing as there is no bolt lock back on empty.
Accuracy: It took me a while to figure out exactly where this pistol was actually shooting, but once I realized the KWC Mauser was shooting way high and I adjusted the rear sight all the way to the bottom, I started getting shots at least on to the paper, I did have to hold really low to get near the bulls eye but keep in mind this is a sample pre-production model so some modifications may be in order to correct the rather high shot placement. Over all the accuracy at 30 feet out was very good with about a 2 inch group from 10 shots. Full auto was as you would expect, more of a spray and pray. I do have to say I was surprised by the feet per second performance, even with .25 gram Airsoft BB's I still shot well over 400 fps on a new CO2 cartridge.
Build Quality: The KWC Mauser CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol is well built being that it is pretty much entirely metal. It weighs in at a whopping 3.15 pounds so be prepared for a heavier gun but you can choose to hold it two handed by using the forward magazine as a sort of fore-grip. Again this was a pre-production sample but even so the fit and finish looked and felt good. I really liked the dark grey finish and very believable plastic wood grain grips.
Realism: The KWC Mauser Airsoft Pistol is spot on replica of the M1932 / M712 Schnellfeuer with as far as I can tell all the same working parts including the semi and full auto selector switch. The KWC Mauser also has a full working bolt, hammer, safety, adjustable rear sight and of course full size drop out metal magazine that holds the CO2 and Airsoft BB's.
Lots of metal and good overall weight - very heavy
Very high fps and good accuracy.
Very good replica of a real Mauser (M1932 / M712 Schnellfeuer) with all working parts.
Nice short single action light trigger.
Shoots in both semi and full auto selectable.

Overall the KWC Mauser CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol is that all metal version we kind of hoped Umarex had made, and from what I can tell in the KWC product brochure, this one should be available in both 4.5mm Steel BB and 6mm Plastic Airsoft so this should make everyone pretty happy :) Other than the rather high shot placement I really liked the KWC Mauser especially the super high fps and ultra fast rate of fire in full auto mode. Another must have classic war pistol to add to the collection!

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the Colt Python 357 CO2 BB Revolver is good in both single and double action, even better than the Dan Wesson and S&W 327 TRR8 shell loading revolvers, most likely because the spring tension that pushes the inner barrel to make contact with the cylinder is noticeably lighter on the Umarex Colt Python 357. Even the hammer is smoother and has less wiggle, just a better trigger and hammer mechanism overall.
Accuracy: The results I got shooting my 6 round group from a 30 foot out semi rested position where good overall. Vertically there was about a 2 inch spread while horizontally there was about a 1 inch spread. I did find the plastic tips on the brass shells seemed to be a bit tight at first and this is when I did most of my Chronograph and target shooting. I believe the tightness effected the consistency of the FPS which also effected the accuracy especially up and down. I did get one shot out of the Umarex Colt Python 357 well over the claimed 400 fps but again the fps was rather erratic most likely because of the snug BB fit due to shell break-in.
Build Quality: The Umarex Colt Python 357 being mostly metal, you would expect it to have a decent build quality and I am happy to say it does, perhaps again even better than the Dan Wesson and S&W 327 TRR8 shell loading revolvers, even the weight of the Colt Python came in close to a half of a pound more! The only real plastic I could find was in the grips and the shell tips. Fit and finish was also good with no noticeable paint wear or sloppy workmanship.
Realism: The Colt Python 357 CO2 BB Revolver overall is a close copy of the real steel Colt Python 357. I did notice the rear portion of the receiver (between the rear cylinder and hammer) to be a bit longer perhaps to accommodate the CO2 valve length, but other than that this pistol is super close to the original revolver it is based and licensed on. Agin being all metal gives this CO2 BB revolver very realistic weight and feel and the loadable brass shells make using this gun almost exactly like using a real shell loading revolver but for much less cost per shot and of course a lot less recoil on the hands.
It's a revolver with actual shells! Give you the feeling of loading and shooting a real revolver.

The ASG Dan Wesson shell loading revolvers reintroduced me to the joy of loading and shooting a revolver which up until that point was not that realistic of an experience when using a BB or Pellet revolver. The Umarex Colt Python 357 has taken it up a notch by adding just a bit more overall weight, a smother trigger and hammer mechanism and styling this revolver on the Classic Colt Python platform. And all of this for even less than the cost of the original Dan Wesson shell loading series CO2 BB revolvers. If you're a revolver fan, make sure to grab one of these and if you're not a revolver fan, this pistol may just change your mind :)
My Vimeo Table Top Review for the Umarex Colt Python 357 CO2 BB Revolver:
Ammunition Capacity: 18 round drop out metal stick magazine.
FPS: 360 claimed.
Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the Umarex Walther PPS is pretty good overall. This pistol mechanically is very similar to the ASG Bersa BP9CC so it shares a similar trigger system that picks up a BB during the first part of the trigger pull allowing the BB to enter the barrel and then on the second part of the trigger pull the internal hammer is released. The hammer is set in the cocked position from the blowback action so the actual trigger pull is fairly light. You can feel a bit of friction when the BB is being moved into the barrel but it is not drastic. Overall trigger pull length is about medium with a very predictable release point.
Accuracy: I did my pre-test of the Umarex Walther PPS CO2 Blowback BB Pistol from 30 feet back shooting at a paper target using a semi rested position (sand bag up front and standing in the back). My 10 shot grouping was just a bit below the center bulls eye and very well centered left and right All 10 BB's stayed within 2 inches with a nice even spread. The Umarex Walther PPS also shot right around the 360 fps range on this not so warm spring day so I would expect it to hit significantly higher than the claimed 350 fps on hot summer days.
Build Quality: The Umarex Walther PPS for it's rather low retail price is very good quality, again comparable to the ASG Bersa BP9CC since I believe both guns are made in the same factory. Fit is very good, everything works well and the slide has next to no wobble, I especially like the way the allen key is built into the CO2 hatch which allows for no need to a CO2 tab to have to accommodate with a bulkier but plate. The finish is also very nice, I did not see any wear mark appear with use and the plastic used in the frame seems to be very high quality.
Realism: The Umarex Walther PPS BB Pistol is a fully licensed replica of the real steel Walther PPS compact cary pistol. It is an extremely close copy in both looks and feel, has a nice snappy blowback action and has a working slide catch release that hold back when the magazine is empty. The slide movement is shorter than expected but this does allow for better power and CO2 usage, it also would have been nice to have a full size drop out magazine but the stick magazine with it's full size but plate does a nice job of still making this replica Airgun look very believable.
Well priced for what you get in our Canada Store, less cost than the ASG Bersa BP9CC.
Nice accuracy, power for such a small short barreled pistol.
Really nice replica of the original Walther PPS and fully licensed.
Great small size weight and feel to it.
Fit and finish is very good.
Decent blowback action for such a small pistol.

I really liked the ASG Bersa BP9CC when I review it because it was such a well rounded gun in a very compact and well built design. The Umarex Walther PPS perhaps exceeds the Bersa BP9CC since it is even more compact, seems to have a bit more blowback recoil while still retaining decent fps and accuracy, and the Umarex PPS has a superior design when it comes to the built in allen key for tightening the CO2. You even get all of this for less cost then the ASG BErsa BP9CC. Don't get me wrong, I would not be without either gun, but if I could only have one it would be the Umarex Walther PPS.

The Umarex Walther PPS is a full licensed CO2 BB Blowback replica of the real steel super compact Walther PPS and it compares well to the ASG Bersa BP9CC that I reviewed earlier and by the way ended up being one of my favorite compact air pistols. That said I think the Umarex Walther PPS is the new king! It is even more compact yet has great fps for a super small CO2 pistol, shot very accurate even from 30 feet out and has more blowback recoil than the larger Bersa BP9CC!

Umarex added another shell loading revolver to their collection, the fully licensed Colt Python 357 and again this revolver uses CO2 and shoots 4.5mm Steel BB's that are preloaded into 6 included brass shells. Out of all the 4.5mm shell loading revolvers to date, I have to say the Colt Python 357 is the heaviest coming in at just under 3 pounds. The trigger hammer combination is also very smooth and it has a fully adjustable rear sight for windage and elevation.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the KJWORKS KP-06 is what you would expect from a true 1911 single action only trigger, it has very little take up with a smooth crisp and super light release to it.
Accuracy: I shot the KJWORKS HI-CAPA KP-06 from 30 feet out in semi rested position and got very good test results. I was able to place 10 rounds in the 2 inch range with most of the shots being very well centered (sights can be adjusted for windage and elevation if need be). The KJWORKS HP-06 1911 styled HI-CAPA Airsoft Replica shot right around 331 fps range on this mid temperature day while conducting my 5 shot average chronograph test. The blowback recoil is very heavy heavy due to the large full length blowback slide and the green fiber optic sights are a joy to use.
Build Quality: As expected, the KJWORKS KP-06 build quality is just like all the other KJWORKS Airsoft guns I've tested so far, excellent the fit and finish is the best in my opinion even when compared to my my 4.5mm steel BB shooters. When using these guns regularly, areas that are painted like the metal friction areas show very light wear which is rarely the case with metal built blowback airguns. Again the tolerances between the moving parts like the slide and frame are very tight showing excellent workmanship and machining from KJWorks.
Realism: The KJWORKS KP-06 6mm Airsoft Pistol is a replica of a Tactical High Capacity styled 1911 45 Auto and is a great looking and functioning replica. You will not find any actual licensing on this pistol and the CO2 magazine does stick out a bit to accommodate the 12 gram CO2 but other than that this Airsoft pistol looks and works near exactly like a real 1911 tactical semi auto and is fully field strip-able.
Pretty much all metal pistol with good weight to it.

Excellent fit and finish as always with KJWorks pistols.
High capacity full size drop out magazine that holds 28 rounds.
Very accuracy and well centered on target.

The KJWorks KP-06 1911 HI-CAPA is another excellent full blowback Airsoft pistol from KJWorks. It is a rather large Airsoft pistol, overall wider, longer and thicker than a standard 1911 so small hands may not be suited to this pistol but if you can manage the KJWorks KP-06, you will be treated with a very responsive and highly reliable Airsoft gun. I really like the updated more tactical add ons like the super long tactical lower rail, machined trigger and hammer, fiber optic adjustable sights, textured grips and ambidextrous safety. The quality on all KJWorks Airsoft guns is top notch so yes they do cost a bit more but you really do get what you pay for here, the KJWorks HI-CAPA KP-06 will look good and perform well for a very long time so your return on investment is well worth it!

Accuracy: I did take the opportunity to do a quick Field Test for the KWC Model 75 and I can tell you it shot an average of 325 fps on a not all that warm day and I also got a fairly tight 2 inch 10 shot group form my standard 20 foot rested position. The single action only trigger is nice, short and crisp followed by a snappy hard blowback action.
Build Quality: The KWC Model 75 Tac Blowback BB Pistol is well built being that it is pretty much entirely metal (even the grips), It weighs in at a stout 2.5 pounds so be prepared for a heavier gun, the tolerances are very good with very little slide slop and the seems are virtually non existent on this air pistol, the dark golden brown color is unique but as per typical KWC / Cybergun air pistols, the rather thin powder coating is probe to wearing off on the high spots and metal on metal areas..
Realism: The KWC Model 75 Tac BB Pistol is a stripped down version of the Cybergun - KWC Tanfoglio Gold Custom Blowback BB Pistol I reviewed earlier, basically it is the same gun but with a rear sight and no sight rail or compensator. In terms of functioning and looking like a real gun it has it all, full size drop out metal magazine, full blowback operation, full slide lock back and of course it can be field striped if need be.
All metal construction - Good weight and very solid feeling gun.
Heavy and snappy blowback action.
Good fit and finish but the paint does wear off pretty easy.
Well balanced in the hand, so even with heavy blowback the gun stays on target.
Light, short and smooth single action trigger, good quick followup shots.
Fully adjustable rear sight for windage and elevation.
Easy to load magazine.
Ambidextrous safety.
Cons:
Paint does wear off pretty quickly in the high spots and metal on metal areas .
No white dot sights so may be tuff on dark targets.
Don't expect a lot of shots per CO2 because of the heavy full blowback but worth it.

Overall the KWC Model 75 Tac Blowback BB Pistol is a really nice all metal airgun to shoot, I found it to be really well balanced which allowed me to shoot this blowback BB pistol really quickly and yet stay right on target even with the heavy snappy blowback operation. If you already like the Cybergun - KWC Tanfoglio Gold Custom Blowback BB Pistol I reviewed earlier, but perhaps want something a bit more compact and without the need to add an additional red dot to it then check out the KWC Model 75 Tac.

Some "not so new" CO2 Blowback 4.5mm Steel BB Pistols from Umarex, but still popular Replica BB guns that have received a lot of attention and to be honest have to date not had a real "proper" Field Test. So why not put the Umarex SA177 and Umarex HPP side by side for yet another installment of Head to Head Shootouts!
Right off the bat I have to say that one of these very fine Blowback Air Pistols has been retired by Umarex. Word on the street is that some suits from a company that sell real steel semi auto pistols that kind of share a similarity to the Umarex SA177 may have applied some pressure to Umarex and somehow the mold got broken and guess what... No more Umarex SA177's :(
Getting back to this Field Test Head to Head Shootout for the Umarex SA177 and HPP CO2 Blowback 4.5mm Steel BB Pistols. I tested them both out on the Chronograph shooting 5 rounds in each gun using a brand new 12 gram CO2 in combination with 5.1 grain Umarex Zinc Coated Steel BB's. The SA177 average a bit higher at 395 fps while the HPP came in just a hair lower at a respectable 372 fps average.
In terms of accuracy from 30 feet out using a semi rested position (sand bag in the front, standing in the back), Both guns wanted to shoot just a bit to the left and they both had a definite internal tighter group that was about 1.5 inches with some strays that came outside opening the groups up to around 3 inches or so. Both BB Air Pistols worked flawlessly with no problems, again the Umarex HPP for me was more enjoyable to shoot with it's heavy blowback and lighter trigger over the SA177. You can also expect to get around 100 or even more shots out of a single CO2 cartridge.
I was waiting for a magazine for my ASG STI Duty One 1911 to show up so I could finally do this "Head to Head" Field Test Shooting Review Video for the ASG STI Duty One versus the ASG CZ 75 P-07 Duty versus the ASG Bersa BP9cc. All of which are Blowback CO2 4.5mm Steel BB pistols.
This Shooting Field Test went fairly well and all guns performed as expected, I did have one slide lock back on a loaded magazine with my ASG STI Duty One 1911 and one failure to lock back on the last shot with my ASG Bersa BP9cc, but it did eventually lock back.
During the Chronograph 5 shot per pistol test I got fairly similar fps from all three guns with the STI Duty One getting the highest of 372 average fps, the Bersa BP9cc getting runner up with 353 average fps and the CZ 75 P-07 Duty trailing the field just a bit with a 346 average fps.
During the target portion of this Field Test Shooting Review from 30 feet back in a semi rested position, again the pistols shot fairly similarly with all of them getting pretty close to 2-3 inch groupings. I did have a double shot right after my slide lock back on the STI Duty One as I pressed the trigger twice, once when the slide was locked back and again when I released it, this chambered two BB's into the barrel making the gun shoot a bit low for that double shot. With that negative one against the STI Duty One 1911, I did however find it the most pleasing to shoot! It had the best blowback action and the smoothest trigger, plus I just like holding and sighting in 1911's :)
The CZ 75 P-07 had the next hardest blowback with the Bersa BP9cc coming in second in the trigger department. All of these CO2 blowback BB pistols should get somewhere around 100+ shots pre CO2 if you take your time a bit between reloading magazines.
My last CO2 Blowback 4.5mm Steel BB Pistol Field Test Review from my latest acquisitions of New Umarex Air pistols. For many people that already liked the Umarex Makarov CO2 BB pistol, the Umarex Legends Makarov blowback version may just have everything you where looking for that was missing from version One? Well let's see... It has blowback - check! It has a working slide catch/release - check! It has a full size dropout metal magazine - check! And it's still all metal, field strip-able and has single a single action trigger!
As per usual, I tested the Umarex Makarov Ultra out shooting 5 rounds through my Chronograph with a new CO2 to find out the real world fps performance. Umarex claims 350 fps and I got pretty close to this at an average of 333 fps and I would have to say the temperature was no more than 10-15 Degrees Celsius (50-60 Fahrenheit) so there is definite room for improvement on a warmer day.
Next I stepped back 30 feet and shot 10 rounds at my paper target using a semi rested position (Standing in the back, rested on a sand bag in the front). After review of the video I noticed that the first shot was a double shot and both of these rounds hit a bit to the right compared to the remaining single shots, so my grouping ended up being more of a 2 inch group rather than a 1.5 inch group when discarding the double shot from this test.
I have to say I really like shooting the Umarex Legends Series Makarov Ultra, it has really solid blowback, a pretty decent single action trigger even if it is a bit long travel. I also found the accuracy to be very respectable from 30 feet out and the fps even though it could be a bit higher is more than enough for plinking purposes. And all of this from a really eye catching all metal licensed Makarov replica. Another nice Legends Series CO2 BB pistol from Umarex.
Today I bring to you my shooting field test for my second new Umarex Blowback 4.5mm CO2 BB Pistol and this one is part of the Legends Series, it's called the "Pistol C96" and is a variant of the Mauser C96, all though more so like the M1932 or M712 Schnellfeuer. The Umarex version is not licensed but none the less is a very good replica with lots of working parts including the blowback metal bolt, metal hammer, metal safety and adjustable metal rear sight. The single action only trigger is also metal along with the internal barrel and full size drop out metal magazine giving this otherwise all external plastic gun good overall weight of around 2 pounds.
Getting to the performance aspect of the Umarex C96 Mauser CO2 Blowback 4.5mm BB Pistol, I can say it is even more fun to shoot than admire it's beauty! I first put 5 rounds through my Chronograph hoping to get somewhere near the 380 fps claimed rating and actually exceeded it with an average of 390 fps even on this slightly cool day.
Lately I have been stepping back to my 30 foot mark even for pistol field tests and so I tested the Legends Mauser C96 with 10 rounds at 30 feet out using a semi rested position and got a very respectable 1.25 inch shot group. I did have to adjust the rear sight up a few notches to get it a centered on the target but it is very easy to do on the fly with this Replica Blowback BB pistol.
I am very impressed with the single action only trigger on the Umarex C96, it is nice and short and not too heavy with a predictable release, combine that with a very snappy fast blowback and you have yourself a very quick shooter on your hands! You can expect to get somewhere around 100 shots per CO2 and this gun is very backyard friendly as it is one of the quieter CO2 BB guns I have tested.
Yes there is a a lot of plastic on the outside but everything else is awesome about this pistol so don't let a few molecules turn you off of this little treasure...
Finally, a field test video for you and I thought I would start off with the new Umarex Beretta Mod. 84 FS CO2 Blowback 4.5mm BB Pistol. This replica BB pistol is fully licensed and is a very decent operational replica to boot. It has a full size drop out metal magazine with blowback operation, a working slide catch/release and safety along with the ability to be easily field striped. Did I mention it's pretty much an all metal gun?
So this video is mainly about the performance and overall I was very happy with how the compact Umarex Beretta Mod. 84 FS shot for me. Even on this somewhat cool day, my average fps came in just a smidgen higher than the claimed 360 fps from Umarex. I was a bit surprised at the slightly heavy single action trigger but it didn't seem to effect the accuracy at all as I got about a 1.5 inch 10 shot group from 30 feet away using a semi rested position. You can even coax out around 100 shots per CO2 if you space your shooting out a bit and let the CO2 warm up between magazines.
All in all, if you like the Beretta 92 FS styled pistols but perhaps want a more compact version with good overall fps and accuracy along with licensing and quality build. Then for sure pick your self up an Umarex Beretta Mod. 84 FS CO2 Blowback 4.5mm BB Pistol.
Moving on to the head to head comparison of the Tanfoglio Gold Custom versus the Sig Sauer X-Five Sight Rail (Open version). Again like my previous video of the KWC Model M1911 Tac A1 versus the Cybergun-KWC GSG 92-M92, these two Air Pistols feature full size drop out metal magazines that hold the CO2 and 4.5mm steel BB's, along with full blowback with working slide catches, safeties and magazine releases. Both are field Strippable and both have the addition of sight rails with red dot sights for quick target acquisition.
I did not find either sight rail pistol to be all that much more accurate than similar open sight pistols like the KWC Model M1911 Tac A1 and Cybergun-KWC GSG 92-M92, but I did find that target acquisition was much quicker and even when I accidentally double tapped the trigger, the second round was right on target.
In this field test comparison I shoot both guns through my Chronograph to see what kind of feet per second performance each one shoots, I also take them back 30 feet and shoot 10 rounds on a paper target using a semi rested position for true accuracy results.
