My Umarex Walther PPQ CO2 Pellet Pistol Adventure

Related Posts:

I had a little adventure today. I needed to pick up an Umarex PPQ CO2 Pellet Pistol sent to me for review purposes by Umarex USA. The reason it was such an adventure was because Umarex USA was only able to send the PPQ Pellet Shooter to an address in the US and I live in Canada! No problem as I am very used to this No-Canada ship-to policy with many businesses. My work around is to ship to a warehouse in the US that specializes in shipping and receiving products for Canadians just like me.

I recently picked myself up a little 250cc Kawasaki KLX250SF Super Motard for doing my running around and today the weather was actually pretty good so I called up a riding buddy and out we went to pick up my Umarex Walther PPQ. The hardest part is actually getting into the US, if you say anything about business or picking "going to get something", you open yourself up to a hailstorm of questioning so you're always better off to go with the standard "I'm going shopping at the mall" or something like that. I have tried to be honest and every time it ends up being a three hour interrogation...

So I made it across into the US and picked up my PPQ, stuffed it in my backpack, grabbed some Mexican food for lunch (it's always way better in the US), went for a joy ride, and then we headed back to Canada with my airgun tucked away securely in my backpack.

I know my airgun laws so I was not worried about crossing back into Canada, the worst that could happen at the boarder was getting pulled aside and asked to pay some duty and/or taxes. It was actually kind of funny because the boarder guard asked me to pull the gun out and hand it to him so he could check it out and make sure it wasn't a real gun or "Replica" non-shooting gun.

As I put my hand in the bag I said "do you want me to hand it to you", I wanted to makes sure I had not misheard him, that would have been an uncomfortable situation all around! I was thinking the whole time "I wonder what the people behind me are thinking" as we pass back and forth what looks like a real hand gun and then I just drive off like nothing happened.

Anyways, I have to say the Canadian boarder guards are generally really good about this kind of thing as long as you are honest with them and stay within the law of course.

So now I have this rather nice little pellet shooting Walther PPQ Replica to review for you all tomorrow! Make sure to check out my review! I plan on doing a full review complete with Chronograph fps and an accuracy shooting tests.

Cybergun Mini UZI CO2 BB Gun Chronograph and Full Auto Shooting Test

Related Posts:

Today I got my Cybergun Full Auto CO2 powered BB shooting Mini UZI out for a Chrony Chronograph test. As stated by the factory, this BB shooting Mini UZU is supposed to shoot right around 344 fps which is not bad for a true blowback airgun. And what I mean by true blowback - it's when an airgun uses some of the CO2 power to cycle the action of the gun, which cocks the firing mechanism and loads a BB all in the blink of an eye - just like a real semi auto shooter.

The Cybergun Mini UZI shot nicely between 350 and 360 fps - again, another impressive result even on a not too warm day! (10 degrees Celsius - 50 degrees fahrenheit)

<!-- google_ad_client = "ca-pub-9036472715040282"; /* Replica Airguns Content */ google_ad_slot = "1487049688"; google_ad_width = 468; google_ad_height = 15; //-->

I also took the opportunity to film the Cybergun Mini UZI shooting in full auto, at target while I used my high speed Casio camera to slow down what was actually happening. The result is you can really see all that's going on while you fire this dynamic air gun.

Keep in mind that the Cybergun Mini UZI does not come from the factory with the full auto feature. It is an easy mod however, and I have a video here on how to do it.

Zoraki 914 Full Auto Product Review by NicFitNation

I don't post a lot of other people's video here on the site but from time to time when I see a really good one, I'll feature it. This video is from a YouTuber named NicFitNation. What I like about this video most of all is the way VST sums up the reasons for getting a blank gun to begin with. I know most of you already understand the reasoning behind owning a blank gun, but for some reason I seem to answer this question a lot on my YouTube channel.

Make sure to watch the video right to the end as there is a nice demo of the Zoraki 914 shooting in full auto!

Marlin Cowboy Lever Action BB Rifle Chronograph Test

I don't know if a lot of people out there are going to be interested in the feet per second performance of what some might call a kids BB gun, but I know I was. And since I already had my Chrony chronograph setup I thought it would be just as easy to put my Crosman Marlin Cowboy Lever Action BB shooter through the paces.

<!-- google_ad_client = "ca-pub-9036472715040282"; /* Replica Airguns Content */ google_ad_slot = "1487049688"; google_ad_width = 468; google_ad_height = 15; //-->

The Cowboy has a claimed feet per second rating of  "up to" 350 fps so I wasn't expecting too much. Right off the bat it hit around 300 fps and kept climbing till it hit just under 320 feet per second. I even went back later after shooting it for a bit and hit got to the mid 320's! I think it just needed a bit of breaking in to hit it's full potential.

Anyway, The Crosman Marline Cowboy Lever action rifle is a really fun BB gun to shoot and my son is going to love it when he gets it for his birthday one of these years, when he's ready...

UMAREX S&W M&P 45 SPECIFICATIONS AND PHOTOS

Sorry, I only have the one photo I could find of the Umarex Smith & Wesson M&P 45. This CO2 pistol shoots both BB's and Pellets and looks like it uses some of the design elements from other rotary magazine Umarex guns like the CPSport and CP88. Again I am not sure if the slide is metal or plastic because of the lower weight factor?

Specifications:

  • Uses 12 gram CO2
  • 4.5mm steel BB's and .177 caliber pellets
  • 380 fps
  • Double action
  • 8 rounds
  • 1.37 Pounds
  • Picatinny Rail

Guess we'll have to see when it gets here?

Specifications:

  • Uses 12 gram CO2
  • 4.5mm steel BB's
  • 427 fps
  • Double action
  • 8 rounds

Umarex S&W 327 TRR8 SPECIFICATIONS AND PHOTOS

I don't have too much in the way of specification for the Umarex S&W 327 TRR8 but I can say it pretty much looks like an ASG Dan Wesson that has been re-skinned! Something I found a bit funny with this gun si that it is supposed to be a TRR8 replica, and the real S&W 327 TRR8 is an 8 shooter and the Umarex copy is a 6 shooter! Maybe they though nobody would notice?

Specifications based on Photos and similar Dan Wesson:

  • Uses 12 gram CO2
  • 4.5mm steel BB's
  • 400-450 fps
  • Single & double action
  • 6 rounds
  • 2.25 - 2.5 Pounds
  • All metal

Added the Umarex Beretta PX4 Storm to the Store

A few more Store product updates... I just added the Umarex Beretta PX4 Storm to go along with the PX4 Storm Recon we have in our Replica Airguns Store.

The Beretta Px4 Storm Recon air pistol is not only a BB gun, but a pellet gun as well. It will shoot either projectile from its revolutionary dual-ended magazine. This 16-shot repeater will have you shooting as fast as you can pull the trigger. There's an 8-shot rotary clip on one end of the stick mag, and another one at the other end. Since it shoots BBs or pellets, you'll have more flexibility with ammo choice.

A 12-gram CO2 is easily loaded into the grip and gives you plenty of shots before you need a refill. There's even an accessory rail under the barrel. Like the handgun, it has real blowback action, it really kicks, giving you a feeling of power that most airguns only hope to achieve! Once you start shooting, you won't want to stop, so get lots of RWS pellets, BBs and Walther CO2.

  • .177 Pellet & 4.5mm BB
  • CO2 Powered
  • 16 round magazine (8 on each end)
  • 380 fps
  • 1.6 pounds
  • 4.5 inch steel rifled barrel
  • Single and double action
  • Blowback
  • Metal slide - polymer frame
  • Tactical Rail Mount

Added the Umarex HPP Blowback BB gun to the Store

I just added the excellently priced and well made Umarex HPP Blowback BB Pistol to the Replica Airguns Store.

The Umarex High Power Pistol (HPP) BB Repeater pistol has a 15-shot drop-out magazine for quick reloading. The 410 fps velocity is quite high for the class of pistol. The crisp blowback action simulates a real firearm. The heavyweight construction of the pistol and integrated accessory rail give it the look and feel of realism. A housed CO2 cartridge in the pistol grip provides the power for the this Sig Sauer looking heavy duty gun.

  • 4.5mm BB
  • CO2 Powered
  • 15 round magazine
  • 410 fps
  • 1.8 pounds
  • 3.6 inch steel non-rifled barrel
  • Double action
  • Blowback
  • Metal slide - metal frame
  • Tactical Rail Mount

EKOL ES 55 CO2 BB Pistol Chrony Chronograph Test

Related Posts:

Another airgun I have been really curious about the actual fps, is the EKOL ES 55. It's one of my only BB pistols that can shoot clean though a soup can. Some of the other BB shooter almost make it but just not quite, even with ratings as high as 480 fps!

The EKOL ES 55 is an overall really nice BB gun with a heavy duty all metal build and it even sports a rifled barrel, another feature not often found in BB shooters.

<!-- google_ad_client = "ca-pub-9036472715040282"; /* Replica Airguns Content */ google_ad_slot = "1487049688"; google_ad_width = 468; google_ad_height = 15; //-->

Now that I have my Chrony chronograph, I am able to actually test these guns and find out their true feet per second ratings and from what I'm seeing, most of the guns come in under their rated fps. My EKOL ES 55 actually did pretty well, the manual claims 120 M/S which translates to 396 fps but interestingly, they actually claimed 360 fps?

So I really needed to get to the bottom of it! I took 15 shots (a full magazine) with the EKOL ES 55 with a few seconds gap between each shot and the gun stayed pretty consistently right around the 420 fps mark. Not bad at all and actually above the claimed feet per second rating!

So if your looking for a good quality BB pistol with 400+ fps, look no further then the EKOL ES 55!

Crosman 1088 Silver CO2 Pellet - BB Gun Review

Type: BB air pistol.

Manufacturer:Crosman.

Model:1088S.

Materials: Mostly plastic.

Weight: 1.1 pounds.

Barrel: 3.8 inches, metal rifled.

Propulsion: CO2 x 1.

Action: Semi auto, double and single action.

Ammunition Type: .177 cal. pellets - 4.5mm BB's.

Ammunition Capacity: 8 round rotary magazine.

FPS: 430.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the Crosman 1088 is pretty good in both single and double action modes, obviously a bit lighter in single action then when in double action. When I was using single action mode, I found the gun would accidentally de-cock its self if I was too tentative right at the break point, I did get used to the break point and was able to shoot in single action mode very effectively with just a bit of practice.

Accuracy: I shot the Crosman 1088 air gun at a target from 20 feet away in a free standing position, and it performed well getting a 1.25 inch grouping right close to the center of the target while using .177 pellets. The rear sight is adjustable for windage which is nice in an entry level pellet gun, the rifled barrel definitely helped this pistol to shoot while using pellets, when using BB's it may not be as accurate.

Build Quality: The 1088 is not going to win any wards for quality of build as it's pretty much an all plastic gun, but Crosman did use metal where it counts the most, in the rifled barrel, the hammer and the CO2 screw and tab (of course there are some metal internal parts).

Realism: The Crosman 1088 is not an actual replica gun, but it does closely resemble the Ruger P345 (.45 Auto). The 1088 does not have any of the Ruger's trademarks or licensing but it does share the basic shape and design of the Ruger P345.

Purchased From: The Replica Airguns Store.

Pros:

  • The price is right!

  • It has a rifled barrel.

  • Can shoot both pellets and BB's.

  • Has an adjustable rear sight for windage.

  • Has good accuracy and decent power.

  • CO2 screw and tab are hidden in the handle.

  • Is both a single and double action shooter.

  • Has a modern look with an under barrel accessory rail.

  • Made in the US.

Cons:

  • This gun is almost all plastic.

  • Trigger in single action mode can sometime de-cock the gun when slowly activating the trigger.

Comments:

There is no doubt that if this pellet shooter had more metal, it would appeal to a lot more people and would probably fetch a lot more money! That said, the plastic does not actually take away from the shooting experience and if you can get your mind around the plastic build quality, you will find this is a great little diverse pellet pistol with many excellent features like a rifled barrel, single and double action mode, ability to shoot pellets and BB's all with an adjustable rear sight.

EKOL Major 9mm P.A.K. 007 PPK Blank Gun Review

Related Posts:

Type: Blank Pistol.

Manufacturer:EKOL - VOLTRAN.

Model: Major.

Materials: Mostly Metal.

Weight: 1.25 pounds.

Barrel: Semi plugged - front firing.

Propulsion: Gun powder.

Action: Semi auto single action.

Ammunition Type: 9mm P.A.K. blanks.

Ammunition Capacity: 7+1 rounds.

FPS: N/A.

Trigger Pull: The EKOL Major is single action only, the trigger pull is relatively light as would be expected.

Accuracy: N/A.

Build Quality: The build quality is similar to that of my Zoraki blank guns. The EKOL Major is well built and uses good quality materials, this gun is almost all metal. The finish quality is typical of other Turkish guns - good but not perfect, the satin finish on the Major looks really good giving the gun a nice two-tone look. I can't say I like the grips all that much as they are a bit shinny, but they do the job and don't to be brittle or anything. The gun seems solid and the fit and finish are also respectable.

Realism: The EKOL Major is a copy of the Walther PPK pistol most notoriously used by Agent 007 in many of the early James Bond movies. It is a fairly accurate PPK copy other than the magazine release which on the EKOL Major is located on the bottom of the handle just behind the magazine, whereas on the real Walther PPK it is located on the left side of the frame just behind the trigger.

Purchased From: the Replica Airguns Store

Pros:

  • In Canada you can only get this gun in a blank version unless you have a prohibited gun license.

  • If you're a James Bond fan, would make a great addition to your 007 collection.

  • Performed well - no loading, ejecting or misfires.

  • Even though it's small it still can take 7+1 rounds of 9mm P.A.K. ammo.

  • One of the lower priced blank guns.

  • Nice Satin two-tone finish.

<!-- google_ad_client = "ca-pub-9036472715040282"; /* Replica Airguns Content */ google_ad_slot = "1487049688"; google_ad_width = 468; google_ad_height = 15; //-->

Cons:

  • Magazine ejector is on the bottom and not the side like a real PPK, but it's still effective.

  • No slide release but this is true to the original design.

  • I wouldn't of minded the grips to be more of a matte finished, not a big fan of shinny grips

Comments:

The EKOL Major is a nice overall 9mm P.A.K. blank shooter, it has a very simple design and the classic semi auto compact pistol look. It is one of the easier guns to filed strip making it easy to clean if you plan on using it regularly. If your a James Bond fan and want the Agent 007 sidearm without the hassle of actually purchasing a real Walther PPK then the EKOL Major might just be right for you.

EKOL ARDA 8MM P.A.K. BLANK POCKET REVOLVER REVIEW

Related Posts:

Type: Blank Pocket Revolver.

Manufacturer:EKOL - VOLTRAN.

Model: Arda.

Materials: Mostly Metal.

Weight: .55 pounds.

Barrel: Semi plugged - front firing.

Propulsion: Gun powder.

Action: Semi auto single action.

Ammunition Type: 8mm P.A.K. blanks.

Ammunition Capacity: 5 rounds.

FPS: N/A.

Trigger Pull: As the Arda is single action only, the trigger pull requires pre-cocking of the hammer before each shot, just like the old west six shooters.

Accuracy: N/A.

Build Quality: The build quality is similar to that of my Zoraki blank guns. The EKOL Arda pocket revolver is well built and uses good quality materials, this gun is almost all metal. The finish quality is typical of other Turkish guns - good but not perfect, the gloss black finish on the Arda looks really good and seems to have filled in most of the imperfections. You will get some powder burns in areas that the gasses escape such as between the cylinder and the beginning of the barrel.

Realism: The EKOL Arda is fairly unique, I don't know of an actual gun that it resembles? It's kind of a cross between a Derringer and a tinny snub nosed revolver.

Purchased From: the Replica Airguns Store

Pros:

  • In Canada these guns are some of the few blank guns available for purchase that are not prohibited.

  • Would make a good training gun animals (retrievers - guard dogs - police dogs) or a compact starter pistol.

  • Revolvers are always dependable, no loading or ejecting problems like you can have with some semi-autos.

  • Extremely compact blank shooter.

  • Nice gloss black finish.

Cons:

  • 8mm P.A.K. Blank ammo is expensive.

  • Only holds 5 rounds

  • Single action only with pre-cocking required.

  • The powder from shooting will wear the finish a bit between the barrel and the cylinder.

Comments:

The EKOL Arda blank pocket revolver is a nice addition to our growing number of legal blank guns in Canada. The Arda is a very interesting looking blank pistol and it may not appeal to everyone? I found it so unique looking that I just had to have it as it's just nothing like any other blank gun I own. If you want an ultra compact pistol with revolver reliability then pick yourself up an EKOL Arda and get a small gun with a big bang!
