OK to start things off, this is a review of the Daisy Red Ryder Lever action BB Rifle but the Vimeo Video also compares the Red Ryder to the very similar Crosman Marlin Cowboy Lever Action BB Riffle, If you have not checked my Marlin Cowboy review out, you can see it here.

So for the most part I am going to focus on the Red Ryder in this text version but I will refer to the Marlin Cowboy when comparing the two BB air rifles.

FPS: Up-to 350.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull is pretty good, not super light but predictable. (the trigger area is much larger then the Crosman Marlin Cowboy which may be more suitable for adults with thick fingers)

Accuracy: When I originally tested my Marline Cowboy I thought it performed well but the Daisy Red Ryder definitely has the advantage in the accuracy department, at least in my testing. I got about a 1.5 inch 8 shot group from a free standing position 20 feet away from the target.

Build Quality: This is a pretty much all metal and wood gun with a build quality almost exactly like the Crosman Marlin Cowboy. Daisy has even made some improvements like upgrading the lever to metal from plastic, most likely to compete with Crosman on this feature. The only plastic I found was the trigger, safety and front sight assembly.

Realism: Even though this BB gun is styled after the classic lever action Cowboy Rifle, it's not a close replica to any that I know of. You have to keep in mind the purpose of this gun - meant primarily for younger first time shooters. There are some nice touches like the leather tassels and the Red Ryder name burned into the stock .

• Inexpensive introduction to the sport of Airgun shooting.

• Made out of Mostly Metal and Wood - Now including the Lever.

• Large capacity internal barrel magazine (650 rounds).

• Adjustable rear sight for height.

• Decent 300+ fps velocity.

• Excellent accuracy and consistency.

• The original maker of this style of BB rifle - great track record!

Cons:

• Plastic trigger, safety and front sight assembly.

• Some people may find the non removable metal loop for the leather tassel a bit intrusive.

Comments:

I think this is a wonderful little BB rifle and even though it's intended for the young entry level shooter it can make a great back yard plinker that anyone can join in and enjoy - adults included! I plan to be shooting either the Red Ryder or my Marline Cowboy side by side with my little guy when he is old enough to shoot one of these fine lever action BB rifles. When it comes to picking between the Daisy Red Ryder or the Crosman Marlin Cowboy Lever Action BB Rifles it comes down to a few points: Both have almost the exact same build quality so it may come down to which look you like best? The Daisy was more accurate while the Crosman had a bit more power. The Red Ryder had the lighter but longer lever action pull while the Marlin Cowboy had a heavier shorter lever pull.

If you can't decide just buy them both because they are dirt cheap to buy and tons of fun to shoot, so when your friends come over you can always pass them one so they won't feel left out!

Another filed test video in the series. This one is of the Umarex Walther PPK/S CO2 4.5mm BB pistol, I show you both my regular unmodified all black PPK/S and shoot it through my Chrony Chronograph with an averaged reading of 282 FPS, not bad considering the manufacturers claim is 295.

I also shoot 8 rounds with my stock Umarex PPK/S at a target to see what kind of accuracy I get, and just for fun I shoot a 15 round magazine into the same target with my modified fully-auto sliver slided PPK/S.

To finish things up, I slowdown the action just a bit using my high speed Casio camera to capture the blowback action of both my stock and modified Umarex Walther PPK's.

Another popular CO2 Blowback BB pistol is the Umarex SA177. It looks very much like a Glock but without the Glock licensing. I also reviewed this Umarex product a while back before I had my Chrony Chronograph and so as with many of my guns I put this well priced CO2 BB replica to the Chrony test to find out its real world feet per second rating.

The Umarex SA177 had a claimed FPS of 400 and when I shot an 8 shot test through my Chrony Chronograph I got a 392 FPS average reading! Very close to the manufacturers stated FPS, and my testing was not on the warmest of days so this CO2 air gun may even do better on a warm summer day.

I also took another 8 shots on a target from 20 feet back in a free standing position to see what kind of results I would get with the Umarex SA177 and it did surprisingly well, the first 7 shots got a nice tight 1.5 inch group but the last shot got away on me just a bit.

Near the end of the YouTube video I bring out my Casio High Speed camera and shot my Umarex SA177 in action at 210 frames per second, you can really see the blowback of the slide and realistic recoil effect a blowback gun offers.

I reviewed this nice little compact Blowback CO2 BB pistol a while back , but I didn't have my Chrony Chronograph or my Casio High Speed Camera, so with all this new technology I thought it was time to revisit my Umarex HPP and see what it could do.

I shot 8 rounds through the Chrony and got an average of 385 FPS which is not too far off the manufacturers claimed 410 FPS. Keep in mind the weather could be a lot warmer!

I also put 8 more rounds into a target from 20 feet away in a free standing position and got a bit of a scattered grouping but I think it was partially my fault because I was a bit surprised at how smooth and light the trigger was. I didn't remember it being so nice and I just wanted to keep pulling it with not too much aiming going on :)

Lastly I shot 10 rounds while capturing the blowback action with my high speed video camera at 210 frames per second, so you can really see the heavy blowback of this snappy airgun.

First off, you may have noticed this Henry Lever Action Rimfire .22 Caliber Rifle is not an airgun or a blank gun! So why am I reviewing it? This isn't going to be a review as much as it's going to be an overview.

I just really wanted to share this awesome little .22 caliber rimfire shooter with you because if you're like me then you may also appreciate the Henry Lever Action Rimfire .22 Caliber Rifle like I do. One reason I like airguns is because they are generally lower cost to purchase and lower cost to shoot then your average powder burner. My Henry .22 only set me back $269 and I have probably paid more for some of my airguns so this was not to bad on the pocket book. Another bonus is I can shoot this gun all day long because .22 caliber rimfire ammo is about 1/10th or less the cost of regular powder based ammo. I can buy a box of 500+ shells for under $20!

When purchasing a rimfire .22 caliber gun, you have to also consider what ammunition you are going to be using as not all rimfire .22 caliber guns will shoot all types of .22 caliber ammo. You can get .22 rimfire ammunition in "Long Rifle", "Long", "Short" and even "Buckshot". Keep in mind that not all .22 caliber guns will operate properly with all kinds of .22 caliber rimfire ammo. For instance, autoloaders generally require the "Long Rifle" ammunition to cycle properly. What I love about the Henry Lever Action Rimfire .22 is that it can shoot pretty much any .22 caliber rimfire ammunition you through at it except for the magnum loads which is a totally different gun altogether.

Another bonus to using the .22 caliber short ammo is that it is about as loud as a standard airgun, at least when using a rifle. So if you don't want to draw attention to yourself then pickup some shorts and plink away! Depending on what manufacturer of shorts you purchase they tend to shoot in the 700-1000 FPS using around a 20-30 grain bullet, so they are still perfectly good for small pest control. Just make sure to keep in mind what is beyond your target as a 20-30 grain bullet will penetrate objects and travel farther then a much lighter .22 caliber pellet even traveling at the same speed.

As this is just an overview I want ot cover some of the main points about the Henry Lever Action Rimfire .22 Caliber Rifle...

As promised, here is my Vimeo video Chronograph test along with some more shots on target for an idea on the accuracy for the Cybergun GSG 92 Beretta 92FS copy.

My Chronograph results where very good with an average 8 shot FPS result of 314, right in line with the manufacturers specifications! I also took some extra time to do some more target testing and shot the GSG 92 BB shooter at a target from 20 feet out in a free standing position and I didn't get the best grouping from it today but hey, it's got full auto too so how important is accuracy?

Lastly a pulled out my Casio high-speed camera and took some video of the blowback action of the Cybergun GSG 92FS Beretta replica at 210 frames per second.

Now that I'm making dedicated Chronograph videos of my air guns, I have been asked several times now to also Chrony my Cybergun Sig Sauer P226 X-Five and Cybergun GSG 92 CO2 Blowback 4.5mm BB guns. Well, here is the first video of the two very popular Cybergun pistols.

My Chronograph results where very good with an average 8 shot FPS result of 328! I also took some extra time to revisit my target result testing and shot the Sig Sauer BB shooter at a target from 20 feet out in a free standing position and it got about a 1.5 inch grouping which is very respectable for a blowback BB shooter.

Lastly a pulled out my Casio high-speed camera and took some video of the blowback action of the Cybergun Sig Sauer P226 X-Five at 210 frames per second.

Ammunition Type: 4.5mm BB's.

Ammunition Capacity: 19 round magazine.

FPS: 410-450.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull weight on the ASG Steyr M9-A1 is pretty typical of a double action trigger, in about the middle of the spectrum. The action of the real Steyr M9-A1 is also DOA (double action only) as it uses a hammerless stiker-fired trigger setup.

Accuracy: I shot the ASG Steyr M9-A1 air pistol at a target from 20 feet away in a free standing position, and it performed respectfully, getting about a 2.5 inch grouping fairly close to the center of the target - just high and to the left. The rear sight is non-adjustable so if you find you shoot a bit off with this airgun then you will need to adjust your aim-point slightly. My Chrony testing with an eight shot averaged result was a very consistent 425 fps - right where the claimed manufacturer fps said it would be for this air pistol!

Build Quality: ASG has not let me down so far with their guns and the ASG Steyr M9-A1 is no exception, it may not be the most complex or have a bunch of metal parts, but it does get the job done and with a lot of style. The plastic/polymer parts look well made and the airgun has good overall weight for being mostly plastic. Fit and finish is also very good.

Realism: The ASG Steyr M9-A1 BB shooter is a really close replica to the ractual 9mm ASG Steyr M9-A1 semi auto 9mm pistol, the only real giveaway is the safety, a "real looking" one is molded into the frame, but the actual usable safety (just below it) borrows from some other gun technologies and is a bit of a give away. Other than that the ASG Steyr M9-A1 with its Steyr licensing and trademarks looks pretty much bang on to the original pistol.

• Good power.
• Good CO2 efficiency - 7 magazines - 133 shots.
• Excellent quality control. Very well made, fit and finish is excellent.

The ASG Steyr M9-A1 air gun is really made to be a BB shooter and so it does it really well by getting consistently high fps and lots of shots per CO2, the fact that ASG was able to make it look so much like the real ASG Steyr M9-A1 is an added bonus and even better is that this gun will not break the bank. Sure, it's nice to have blowback, a full sized drop out magazine and lots of metal parts but then the extra price tag that goes along with the extras adds up and can make an airgun unobtainable for some. So if your looking for an affordable really nice looking BB plinker you're going to get lots of good shots out of, the ASG Steyr M9-A1 may be just right for you!

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the ASG STI Duty One 1911 is nice and light due to its true blowback operation that cocks the hammer back with each shot taken. The pull is rather long but nothing really happens till you get right to the end and then there is just a slight bit of pressure and a quick release.
Accuracy: I shot the STI Duty One 1911 air gun at a target from 20 feet away in a free standing position, and it performed well getting a 1.5 to 2 inch grouping right in the center of the target. The rear sight is adjustable for windage which is always nice to have just in case you are shooting a bit to the left or right. For me there was no need to adjust the sights. My Chrony testing with an eight shot averaged result was 373 fps - very decent for a blowback pistol!
Build Quality: ASG did an awesome job designing and making the STI Duty One 1911 Blowback BB gun, they didn't really compromise on anything other than the polymer frame! With that said all that important parts like the Slide, Slide Catch, Safety, Mag Release, Hammer, Barrel and Magazine are all metal. The fit and finish as with all the ASG air guns is excellent!
Realism: The ASG STI Duty One 1911 Blowback is a really close replica to the real steel STI 1911, the only real giveaway is the trigger design, as a true 1911 trigger is not your typical lever type. Even with the different type of trigger the STI Duty One is a very good replica complete with all the STI licensing and trademarks.

I am quickly realizing that ASG is a company that makes not only some really nice air pistols, but also ones with excellent quality control and design. The STI Duty One 1911 Blowback CO2 BB gun is no exception to this and I found it a blast to shoot because it felt great in the hand, shot hard and on target, performed flawlessly and I was able to get a lot of shots from a CO2 even with the blowback and high fps for a blowback shooter. If you're a 1911 fan or you simply like full size guns that mean business, then take a look at the ASG STI Duty One 1911 Blowback CO2 BB pistol. If I had to pick one BB shooter to take out for a day of plinking, this would probably be the one!

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the Umarex Walther CP88 is extremely nice in both single and double action mode with the single action having the lightest pull making it really easy to shoot on target with accuracy.

Accuracy: I shot this air gun at a target from 20 feet away in a free standing position, and it performed very well getting about a two inch grouping close to the center of the target and staying in the two inch sweet spot even with 3 magazines or 24 rounds shot, I shot just a little bit high and to the right. The good news is the sights can be adjusted for windage if you are shooting a tad bit to the left or right. My Chrony testing with an eight shot averaged result was 360 fps using 6.9 grain RWS pellets.

Build Quality: This is an almost all metal air gun with great fit and finish and a nice dense 2.25 pound weight to it. It's made in Germany, so you know it's made right? The only plastic parts to speak of are the grips which are a hard matte black plastic which matches the rest of the airgun nicely. All the mechanical parts operation are as smooth as butter.

Realism: The Umarex Walther CP88 is a licensed replica of the real Walther P88 semi auto pistol. It looks very close to the real steel with the exception of the break in the slide where the rotary magazine is accessible and the extra "C" in the name.

Pros:

• Almost all metal construction - good weight and very solid feeling gun - 2.25 pounds!

• German made!

• Comes in a nice hard-shell case.

• Very nice looking gun with in the Matte black - Blued finish.

• Adjustable rear sight for windage.

• Double and Single Action trigger, very smooth and light.

• Ambidextrous safety just like the real steel.

• Very good accuracy, decent FPS for a pellet shooing pistol and good usage of CO2 (12 magazines).

• More expensive then many entry level guns but much higher quality.

Comments:

I have to say I pretty much like everything about this airgun; Its size, its looks, it's German build and quality and the way it shoots. The Umarex Walther CP88 air pistol is one of those airguns I think everyone should save up for just to have the pleasure to own and shoot. It may not have blowback or a full size drop out magazine like some of the other newer styled flashier air pistols but I can tell you it is a real joy to shoot. When you hold it in your hand and point it at the target, all you can think about is how much fun you are having with this fine air gun.

Ammunition Capacity: 14 round rotary magazine.

FPS: 394.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the Valtro Airgun 92 has a medium weight in single action mode making it easy to place your shots on target. Double action shooting is also possible but does have a much heavier trigger pull, I found it on the heavy side but still had no problems shooting rapid fire in double action mode.

Accuracy: I shot the Airgun 92 at a target from 20 feet away in a free standing position, and it performed well after I figured the gun out and tried a few pellet variations. In the end I was able to get the Airgun 92 to shoot about a 1.5 to 2 inch grouping just to the left of the center mass on the target. The sights are non-adjustable, but for me there wasn't really a need to adjust them since I was well on target. My Chrony testing with a six shot averaged result was 330 fps.

Build Quality: The Valtro Airgun 92 is another air pistol that utilizes Polymer in many of the parts of the air gun. Valtro did not cheap out and put plastic where it could effect the performance. The barrel, trigger, hammer, CO2 screw tab, Magazine ejector and the majority of the working parts are all metal with the exception of teh external shell being made form polymer plastic, and even then the polymer is nice and thick and meant to last.

Realism: The Valtro Airgun 92 is a close copy of the Beretta 92FS styled semi auto pistol which is one of my favorite old school pistol designs. You will not find any Beretta branding on the Airgun 92 as it is not a licensed replica but from a few feet away it would be hard to tell them apart.

• One of the few airguns these days that comes with a hard shell plastic case!
• Quality made in Italy.
• Comes with an extra set of rotary magazines.
• Uses duel CO2s' for more shots and better consistency.
• Single and double action.
• Rifled barrel

• Good usage of metal components where needed.

Comments:

I definitely recommend the Valtro Airgun 92, especially if you are a Beretta fan! This pellet shooter is a mid-range priced gun that has a lot going for it: Italian built, high capacity pellet magazine, unique CO2 system with never ending shots, double and single action, rifled barrel, hard shell case, and overall great looks and performance. If you're looking for an air pistol with a bit more accuracy over a BB shooter (especially at longer ranges), then take a look at the Valtro Airgun 92 for your next air pistol purchase.

When I got my EKOl Firat a while back with a bunch of other fine EKOL products, I decided to not do a full review on it as it is essentially the same gun as my EKOL Jackal. Well, the people have spoken and I have given into the pressure and made a short comparison video on the differences between the EKOL Jackal and the EKOL Firat.

The Blank EKOL guns in this video are represented in both the Magnum (EKOL Jackal) and Compact (EKOL Firat) sizes which will also help you get an idea of the size difference when ordering as both guns can be purchased in Magnum and Compact versions.

Here are the main differences:

• The EKOL Jackal can shoot in both semi auto and full auto while the EKOL Firat is semi auto only.

• The EKOL Jackal's rear safety is non-functioning for all intents and purposes as the semi-full auto selector switch is also used as a safety switch. The EKOL Firat uses the rear safety as its safety and it is fully functional.

• The EKOL Firat can be shot in single action or double action mode while the EKOL Jackal is a single action only gun meaning you have to either cock the hammer or rack the slide to shoot the first round in this gun. (Once the first shot is fired the blowback of the slide will automatically re-cock the action for you)

• The EKOL Firat is about $60 less expensive as it does not have the full auto feature.

I did a full review of the ASG CZ 75 P-07 DUTY a while back but I didn't include any actual footage of the CZ 75 shooting. This BB shooter has a nice blowback action so I wanted to show you how this semi auto air pistol cycled in regular speed and then slowed down to 420 frames per second with my Casio high speed camera.

I wanted to go back and do a full Chronograph Chrony test for my Umarex PX4 Storm and I thought I may as well do a live target shooting test while I was at it. I also thought I would try out my under barrel laser sight and see how it worked and what it looked like while filming it shooting in action. The PX4 shot an average of around 340 fps using 6.9 grain RWS pellets.

And lastly, I pulled out my Casio high speed camera and shot the blowback action of the PX4 Storm, first in real time and then also slowed down to 420 frames per second.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the Umarex Colt Government 1911 A1 is extremely nice in both single and double action mode with the single action having the lightest pull making it a joy to shoot at targets.

Accuracy: I shot this air gun at a target from 20 feet away in a free standing position, and it performed excellent getting just over a one inch grouping close to the center of the target, just a little bit high. The sights can be adjusted for windage if you are shooting a tad bit to the left or right. My Chrony testing with an eight shot averaged result was 383 fps.

Build Quality: This is an almost all metal air gun with great fit and finish and a nice hefty 2.5 pound weight to it. It's made in Germany, what more do I need to say? The only plastic parts to speak of are the grips which almost feel like a mix between rubber and plastic. All the mechanical parts opperation are as smooth as butter.

Realism: The Umarex Colt Government 1911 A1 is a licensed replica of the real Government Colt 1911 A1 45 auto pistol. It looks pretty much bang on with the exception of the slight break in the slide where the rotary magazine is accessible.

Pros:

• Almost all metal construction - good weight and very solid feeling gun - 2.5 pounds!

• German made.

• Comes in a nice hard-shell case.

• Very nice looking gun with the two-tone Nickel and black finish.

• Adjustable rear sight for windage.

• Double and Single Action, very smooth and light.

• Accurate trigger design and working back-strap safety

• Very good accuracy, decent FPS for a pellet shooter and good usage of CO2

Cons:

• A bit on the pricy side $200+.

• The sights are a bit hard to see on certain darker backgrounds.

• The engravings on my airgun where a bit hard to see.

Comments:

The Umarex Colt Government 1911 A1 is a pleasure to own and shoot, you can really tell this is a quality gun from how smoothly it operates and the confidence it gives you even just holding it in your hands. This well made airgun has been around since the late 90's and even today holds it's own. It may not have a working blowback design or drop out magazine but as far as being a top notch airgun made for shooting and enjoying for years to come, it definitely succeeds in that category.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the Umarex Walther PPQ is a bit on the heavy side with most of the effort at the beginning and middle stages, right near the release point it does seem to lighten up a great deal making it easy to put pellets on the target. Just don't expect the PPQ to be the quickest rapid fire gun on the block because of this.

Accuracy: I shot this air pistol at a target from 20 feet away in a free standing position, and it performed well getting an impressive 1.5 inch grouping very close to the center of the target. The sights can be adjusted for windage if your aim is off to one side or the other. My Chrony Chronograph testing using 6.9 grain lead pellets fluctuated between 300 and 360 fps.

Build Quality: This is an almost all external polymer air gun with a good deal of metal components on the inside giving the Walther PPQ a decent overall weight and heft. Some of the external metal parts worth noting are the safety switch, slide release, and trigger. The fit and finish is very good on the PPQ and the plastic is the good stuff - there is a difference!

Realism: The Umarex Walther PPQ is a licensed replica of the real Walther PPQ semi auto pistol. It is a very close looking copy with the exception of some of the trade marks (P99 Q instead of PPQ). There is a lot of attention to detail that helps make this gun very believable!

Pros:

• Very reasonable price for a well made full featured airgun.

• Excellent reproduction of the real Walther PPQ semi auto pistol.

• Shoots both pellets and BB's.

• Rifled barrel.

• Easy to use yellow dot sights adjustable for windage.

• Slide catch and safety are realistic and functional.

• Well designed CO2 access both hides the CO2 and makes it easy to install.

• Good combination of power, accuracy and CO2 efficiency (I got 80+ shots)!

• Even though there is a lot of plastic on the outside, there is a lot of metal on the inside giving this airgun some weight and heft.

Cons:

• The plastic exterior may put off some customers looking for metal guns.

• The trigger is a might bit heavy making rapid fire something you have to work for!

• The small .177 caliber viewable barrel port is a bit of a giveaway in terms of realism but may help a bit with fps.

Comments:

The Umarex Walther PPQ Pellet and BB CO2 air pistol took me a bit by surprise. Because the PPQ resides in the lower end price range, I was not expecting it to be as nice of an airgun as it turned out to be! The PPQ has a lot going for it: Shoots both Pellets or BB's, a rifled barrel, adjustable sights, good accuracy, decent power, efficient CO2 usage and good looks. These qualities make it very easy to overlook the mostly plastic exterior!

Today I got my Cybergun Full Auto CO2 powered BB shooting Mini UZI out for a Chrony Chronograph test. As stated by the factory, this BB shooting Mini UZU is supposed to shoot right around 344 fps which is not bad for a true blowback airgun. And what I mean by true blowback - it's when an airgun uses some of the CO2 power to cycle the action of the gun, which cocks the firing mechanism and loads a BB all in the blink of an eye - just like a real semi auto shooter.

The Cybergun Mini UZI shot nicely between 350 and 360 fps - again, another impressive result even on a not too warm day! (10 degrees Celsius - 50 degrees fahrenheit)

I also took the opportunity to film the Cybergun Mini UZI shooting in full auto, at target while I used my high speed Casio camera to slow down what was actually happening. The result is you can really see all that's going on while you fire this dynamic air gun.

Keep in mind that the Cybergun Mini UZI does not come from the factory with the full auto feature. It is an easy mod however, and I have a video here on how to do it.

I don't post a lot of other people's video here on the site but from time to time when I see a really good one, I'll feature it. This video is from a YouTuber named NicFitNation. What I like about this video most of all is the way VST sums up the reasons for getting a blank gun to begin with. I know most of you already understand the reasoning behind owning a blank gun, but for some reason I seem to answer this question a lot on my YouTube channel.

I don't know if a lot of people out there are going to be interested in the feet per second performance of what some might call a kids BB gun, but I know I was. And since I already had my Chrony chronograph setup I thought it would be just as easy to put my Crosman Marlin Cowboy Lever Action BB shooter through the paces.

The Cowboy has a claimed feet per second rating of  "up to" 350 fps so I wasn't expecting too much. Right off the bat it hit around 300 fps and kept climbing till it hit just under 320 feet per second. I even went back later after shooting it for a bit and hit got to the mid 320's! I think it just needed a bit of breaking in to hit it's full potential.

Anyway, The Crosman Marline Cowboy Lever action rifle is a really fun BB gun to shoot and my son is going to love it when he gets it for his birthday one of these years, when he's ready...
