Crosman M4-177 Pellet-BB Rifle & Old West M1873 Blank Revolver Update Video

It's always good to start the week off with an update video so everyone knows what's happening short-term and long-term...

I recently acquired a couple new items that I will be reviewing in the near future (along with several other reviews that I will be trying to get to ASAP!) First off is the Crosman M4-177 which is basically a multi-pump pellet and BB shooting replica of an AR or M4 styled carbine used by the US military. The Crosman M4-177 is mostly plastic on the outside but on first inspection seems to be built fairly well. It has removable metal sights and the magazine is also detachable but is not used as a magazine but rather a compartment for storage. The unit I have is the Canadian detuned version which shoots .177 caliber lead pellets and 4.5mm steel BB's at under 500 fps.

I don't currently sell the Crosman M4-177 in the Canada Replica Airguns Store but I do have it available for purchase in the US Replica Airguns Store for my US customers.

I also received my first old west blank shooting revolver (M1873), I have wanted one of these for a while and finally got my hands on one :) Unfortunately this one has a plugged barrel so it vents out of the cylinder area which may get a bit messy. I may see about making this one a front venting gun if possible and of course as long as it's within the law as I plan to make sure the cylinder stays semi plugged so no actual rounds could ever be shot out of it. The Old West M1873 Blank Revolver holds six .380 crimped blanks and is an all metal and wood construction. This should be a fun review!

I also touch upon a few other guns on the list of items I need to review and by the way in an attempt to get caught up I will be doing my Table Top and Shooting reviews combined.

Here are some of the guns that I will be reviewing over the next while...

Browning Hi-power Mark III CO2 BB Pistol Table Top & Shooting Review

Type: BB air pistol.

Manufacturer:UmarexUSA.

Model:Browning Hi-power Mark III.

Materials: Plastic (polymer) and some metal construction.

Weight: .92 pounds.

Barrel: 4.5 inches, metal smooth bore.

Propulsion: 12 gram CO2 x 1.

Action: Semi auto, single and double action.

Ammunition Type: 4.5mm steel BB's.

Ammunition Capacity: 18 shot full size drop out magazine.

FPS: 410.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the Umarex Browning Hi-power Mark III is not too bad but has more resistance when the BB magazine is full as the first part of the trigger pull is dedicated to advancing a BB into the BB chamber, this is true in both single and double action. Shooting the Browning Hi-power in single action mode is a bit smoother but also has some resistance right at the beginning. Overall I would say it has a medium pull and as you can see in my shooting results the trigger did not effect the accuracy negatively at all!

Accuracy: Excellent for a BB shooter I shot a 1 inch 7 shot group from 20 feet out in a semi-rested position and this is was with open sights! I also shot freehand in double action, shooting quickly and also got a very respectable 2.5 inch pattern that represented an additional 36 shots. When it came to FPS performance the Umarex Browning Hi-power Mark III was a bit lower than claimed which is not unusual with most airguns (369 fps averaged 8 shots). The Umarex Browning Hi-power did get well over 100 shots per CO2 but I would have given up a few shots for a bit more power.

Build Quality: I would have liked to have seen this air pistol replica use a lot more metal and perhaps some more working parts. As is it is mostly plastic and very light weight but the fit and finish are good overall and the gun should work just fine and hold up over time.

Realism: The Umarex Browning Hi-power Mark III is a licensed replica of the actual Browning Hi-power Mark III semi auto pistol. It is a very close "looking" copy in almost every way. I like the fact that there are no side screw holes that you find in many plastic moulded BB pistols and the Browning Mark III has a working ambidextrous safety and magazine release just like the real Browning Hi-power Mark III. The let down here is in the .92 pound weight of the Browning BB version, it just doesn't have that "gun like" weight to it which makes it feel a bit cheap. I would have really liked to see this BB pistol in all metal and with a working slide, and I would not have minded to pay extra for the upgrade in materials.

Available in the:Replica Airguns Store

Pros:

  • Non of those side assembly screw holes which are a dead giveaway that it's an airgun.

  • Feels well built even though it is a bit light weight.

  • Inexpensive but has good fit and finish.

  • Trigger and hammer are metal.

  • Excellent accuracy and decent power.

  • Full size magazine that is very easy to load.

  • Very good replica of the actual Browning Hi-power Mark III.

  • Single and double action trigger.

<!-- google_ad_client = "ca-pub-9036472715040282"; /* Replica Airguns Content */ google_ad_slot = "1487049688"; google_ad_width = 468; google_ad_height = 15; //-->

Cons:

  • Mostly plastic which makes the gun feel kind of light weight.

  • No working slide.

  • Could have just a bit more power even at the expense of less shots per CO2.

  • No white dots on the sights?

Comments:

The Umarex Browning Hi-power Mark III BB CO2 pistol is a very good replica of the real steel version of this gun and in terms of "looks" alone does a good job making this pistol very believable. Now once you pick it up, you know it's not the real deal because of the plastic build and much lower weight. So with that out of the way, let's talk a bit more about what I did really like about the Browning Hi-power Mark III! I liked the excellent accuracy, easy to load and use full size drop out metal magazine not often found in a low price airgun like this, and I also like the fact that there are no screw holes on the side of this gun found in so many plastic and even some metal BB guns. So overall the Browning Hi-power Mark III is a good overall replica, has excellent accuracy and is really the only Browning Hi-power available in an airgun that I know about.

Kimar M85 & Lady K - Webley Tempest - Daisy Powerline 5501 Update

I wanted to make a quick video to showcase a few items I will be reviewing and some of which are also for sale in the Replica Airguns Store.

First off we have a few of the new front firing Kimar Model 85's (Orange Slide) left in Canada. I stated out with 9 and I am not down to 3 so hurry on this one if you want one in Canada. If you are in the US, I also have them for sale in my US Replica Airguns Store in both Black and Nickel.

Next up I just wanted to show you a Kimar Lady K that will show up some time down the road in a video review, this item is now in my personal collection and sorry it is not for sale in either my Canada or US store at this time.

I have had lots of requests to review the Daisy Powerline 5501 and to be honest I have wanted to get this one for some time and even though it is available for sale in our US Replica Airguns Store I have not had the opportunity to pick one up until now so look forward to that review again some time down the road...

Last but not least I wanted to give you a closer look at the new Turkish made high powered Webley Tempest I have available in the Canada Store, these ones shoot as hard as legally possible within our Canada limitation to be classified as uncontrolled firearms and they make  great compact pest control pistols that you can keep handy for when required.

OK, so that's it for now and be sure to watch the full reviews of these guns when I get to them shortly!

Higher FPS Webley Tempest Now Available in Canada Store

The classic Webley Tempest is now available in the Replica Airguns Canada Store and let's set the record straight right from the start. This is a the latest made in Turkey version and it really smokes! From most peoples reviews the fit and finish are comparable to previous versions and we will just have to take their word for it as I have never had a Webley Tempest to compare one to? I can tell you the new Turkish made Webley Tempest is very well made air pistol and when it comes to power this gun take it right to the edge in terms of what is legal as an unregulated airgun in Canada.

I tested both the .177 caliber and .22 caliber Webley Tempests and they both shot very hard, keep in mind, with added velocity there is also added cocking effort and the .22 caliber definitely uses a stronger spring as it also has more energy behind the fast moving .22 caliber pellets. The .22 is not for everyone because it take a lot for work to cock this bad boy!

These are the results I got shooting the Webley Tempests using my Chronograph:

  • .177 Caliber
  • 6.9 grain pellets used
  • 499 fps
  • 3.8 foot pounds
  • 5.2 Joules
  • .22 Caliber
  • 11.9 grain pellets used
  • 400 fps
  • 4.2 foot pounds
  • 5.7 Joules

Here is some more info on the new Turkish Webley Tempest:

This is the latest and most powerful (made in Turkey) version of the original barrel over cylinder design that made Webley pistols world famous. Positively locked barrel using the famous Webley revolver type stirrup.
The Webley Tempest is a spring-operated, single shot; break barrel air pistol fitted with a precision-rifled barrel primarily suited to waisted lead pellets. The gun is available in either .177 or .22 caliber. The gun incorporates many additional design features, which include: adjustable trigger, manual safety catch (i.e. selective use), adjustable rear sight with vertical and horizontal adjustment. Handle is designed to fit the hand, with a thumb rest and checkered grips.
  • .177 or .22 cal. pellet versions
  • Spring-operated, break barrel
  • Single shot
  • 400fps .22 - 499fps .177 (REALLY!)
  • 2 pounds
  • 6.89 inch steel rifled barrel
  • Adjustable sights & trigger
  • Manual safety
  • Comes with manual
  • Strong Cocking Effort!!

Type: Blank Gun.

Manufacturer: Zoraki - ATAK Arms

Model: Zoraki M917

Materials: Metal slide, Polymer frame.

Weight: 1.91 pounds.

Barrel: Semi plugged - front firing.

Propulsion: Gun powder.

Photo of Zoarki 917 Removed by Request from Glock "Renzulli Law Firm"

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull has a medium pull and also has the built in trigger safety found on the real NAME REMOVED. There is also a grip safety that is used in combination with the trigger safety giving the Zoraki M917 a double safety system.

Accuracy: NA.

Build Quality: The overall build quality of this gun is excellent. The design and materials all seem to be of good quality as is true with all of the Zoraki blank guns. Out of all the blank guns I have reviewed the Zoraki gun materials and workmanship are closest to what you would find on real steel guns.

Photo of Zoarki 917 Removed by Request from Glock "Renzulli Law Firm"

Realism: This gun is not "supposed" to be a replica of any gun in production but it does look amazingly similar to a NAME REMOVED semi auto pistol. The Zoraki M917 is different in that it has the double safety system with the extra grip safety on the back of the grips. The take down switch is also more like what you would find on a Walther series pistols but it makes for very easy field stripping!

Supplied on loan for review.

Photo of Zoarki 917 Removed by Request from Glock "Renzulli Law Firm"

Pros:

  • Excellent construction, built pretty much just like a real NAME REMOVED.

  • Front firing and flawless performance.

  • Interesting double safety system.

  • Super easy to field strip.

  • High capacity magazine.

  • Come with a very nice hard shell case and accessory package.

Cons:

  • Not available in Canada at this time:(

  • NAME REMOVED users may not like the double safety system.

Comments:

The Zoraki MOD 917 is another very fine blank gun from Zoraki (ATAK Arms) which is exactly what I expected it to be! It is a real shame we can not import blank guns in Canada at this time and also the recent prohibition of several of the Zoraki blank gun models like the R1, M914 and M925. Make sure to watch my YouTube video on the Zoraki M917 for more information on what is happening in Canada with blank related importation. If you're are lucky enough to live in an area like the US or other parts of the world where your government does not treat you like a small child, then you can have one of these beautiful blank shooters!

Kimar Model 85 8mm P.A.K. Front Firing Blank Pistols for Sale

As most of you Canadian blank enthusiasts are aware, blank guns are next to impossible to find in Canada right now, let alone a brand new blank gun! I have acquired "at substantial cost" 8 brand new Kimar Model 85 8mm P.A.K. Front Firing Blank Pistols that I will sell to the first 8 buyers, I will not be getting any more of these as this was purchased from a suppliers back-stock inventory.

As is with all rare items - they will not be sold cheap, this version also only comes with the orange painted slide which by the way is fairly easy to paint black or strip to a nickel finish. I stripped mine and I didn't even have any paint remover around - I simply used some paint thinner and my dremel for the stubborn areas, followed up with some Autosol metal polish to brighten it up.

The Kimar Mod. 85 Blank Pistol closely resembles the Beretta Cheetah hand gun in looks, and functionality. The Kimar Mod. 85 comes with an 8 round single stack magazine and has an orange painted slide. This model is perfect if you like the look of the Beretta 92 FS but want something just a bit smaller. The Kimar Model 85 comes with a flare adaptor and cleaning rod.
  • 8mm P.A.K blanks
  • 8 round magazine
  • Solid 2 pounds
  • Semi auto
  • Single & double action
  • Front firing!
  • Come with flare adaptor & Cleaning rod

Zoraki M917 9mm P.A.K. Blank Gun Review Coming Soon

Photo of ZORAKI 917 Removed by Request from Glock "Renzulli Law Firm"

All references, photos and video claiming that any item in this Review/Video looks like a Glock or is a Replica of a Glock in any way shape or form have been removed from this post as requested by Glock"Renzulli Law Firm"

You may wonder how I got my hands on a Zoraki M917 front firing blank gun, this one does not belong to me but was sent for review by one of my viewers which was very generous! Not only is it near impossible to get any new blank guns in Canada these days, but many of the Zoraki blank guns are now considered "prohibited", like the Zoraki R1, 914 and 925, thankfully there rae still a couple Zoraki blank guns that are not on the hit list like this M917 Glock inspired blank shooter and also the Zoraki M906.

Photo of ZORAKI 917 Removed by Request from Glock "Renzulli Law Firm"

I plan to talk more about some of this in my full review so make sure to watch that review if you want to know more about what is going on with blank guns in Canada these days.

Enough politics for now, here are some more photos for you to enjoy till I do my full review which I plan to do very soon since this blank firing Zoraki M917 is on loan to me...

Umarex Browning Hi-power Mark III CO2 BB Pistol Preview

I received another airgun from Umarex USA, this time it was the Browning Hi-Power Mark III in a 4.5mm CO2 BB Pistol. (Thanks for sending it Umarex!) I did have to cross the boarder and bring it back which always adds to the excitement because you never know what to expect and how educated the CBSA guard will be? It did go pretty smoothly this instance so I had some time to make this short Preview video for you.

Here is some of the basic info about the Umarex Hi-Power Mark III CO2 BB Pistol and by the way it is available in our US Replica Airguns Store, sorry my Canadian customers will have to wait a bit...

If you're a Browning collector, this gun belongs in your vault. The Browning Hi-Power is such a sought-after firearm, so it's about time someone made an airgun replica! This lightweight pistol shoots 4.5mm steel BB's and will deliver hours of shooting fun for only pennies per shot. Since it's a copy of the real steel firearm, you can use this air gun just about anywhere to maintain firearm proficiency without the exorbitant ammo costs or range fees.

  • 4.5mm Steel BB

  • 12 gram CO2 powered

  • 18 round full size drop out magazine

  • 410 fps

  • .75 pounds

  • 4.75 inch steel smooth Bore barrel

  • Single & double action

Swiss Arms Sig Sauer GSR 1911 CO2 BB Pistol Table Top Review

Type: BB air pistol.
Manufacturer: Swiss Arms.
Model: Sig Sauer GSR 1911.
Materials: Mostly plastic construction with a few metal parts.
Weight: 1.3 pound.
Barrel: 4.5 inches, metal non-rifled.
Propulsion: CO2 x 1.
Action: Semi auto, double action.
Ammunition Type: 4.5mm BB's.
Ammunition Capacity: 20 round magazine.
FPS: 398 claimed - 450 real world.
Trigger Pull: The Swiss Arms Sig Sauer GSR 1911 has a double action trigger with about a medium weight pull to it. It does feel somewhat long as the break point seems to take a while to get to but once you master where it is, you can shoot this BB gun with surprising accuracy.
Accuracy: Once I sorted out the laser sight which took some MacGyvering (as explained in the video), this gun shot a nice tight pattern! For my quick test I shot free standing from 20 feet away and put 8 rounds into my target taking my time. I got about a 1.5 inch group which was very good and another note worth mentioning would be the Chronograph results I got, even though the Sig Sauer GSR 1911 CO2 BB pistol has a claimed fps of 398, mine came in consistently right around 450 fps!

Build Quality: The Swiss Arms GSR 1911 is mostly plastic and has very few actual moving parts, I'm personally not too worried about it, in fact the lack of moving parts means there is less to go wrong with it! I found the fit and finish to be good overall and as long as you are OK with the plastic this gun should be just fine for you. The only thing that would have been nice to see improved would be the laser and how it is adjusted. As is out of the box without modification, you will find that it easily moves out of aim. (I do explain how I fixed this problem in my video review)
Realism: The Swiss Arms Sig Sauer GSR 1911 in terms of size and looks, is about what the real gun would look like, with the exception of the trigger which is kind of a strange looking combination of triggers mashed into one. Of course being a moulded plastic airgun, it is much lighter then the real steel 1911 and has the telltale screw holes on the right hand side. The magazine ejector does work but the real steel safety, slide catch/release, hammer and grip safety are all moulded into the plastic so they do not function. On a good note the barrel muzzle is large like a real 45 caliber adding to the realism.
Purchased this gun from: The Replica Airguns Store.

Pros:

  • Much better than advertised FPS and good CO2 usage. (up to 200 shots).
  • Good accuracy once you get the laser working with the gun it adds to the ease of targeting.
  • Inexpensive and comes with lots of extra stuff that ads value. (Safety Glasses, Laser Sight, Starter BB's)
  • Well hidden CO2 tab and 45 caliber sized muzzle.
  • Full Sig Sauer licensing, decent replica in terms of looks
  • Drop out metal magazines, compatible with other airguns (Umarex Beretta Elite II, S&W M&P)

Cons:

  • Pretty much all plastic and not many working parts (less to go wrong)
  • light weight makes it feel a bit on the cheap side.
  • Trigger action is long and takes some getting used to.
  • Laser sight needs to be MacGyvered a bit to make it stay sighted in (again watch my video on how to fix this).

Comments:
The Swiss Arms Sig Sauer GSR 1911 is pretty much what you would expect from a low cost airgun in terms of build quality, lots of plastic, with less working parts. This does not take away from the performance however as the GSR 1911 performed well in both accuracy and power. It also comes with the laser sight, safety glasses and starter BB's as an added bonus for about the same price as many entry level airguns on their own. If you like ultra realistic guns then this is on may not be for you, but if you want a good performer with the replica look and combined with a value package then I think you will be more than happy with the Swiss Arms Sig Sauer GSR 1911.
